The ice cream shop is located just across the street from the public library, under the HDB block. At first look, one would thought that it offers the usual ice-cream, waffles and drinks. The ice cream is on sale at $3.90 a scoop for standard flavours, and $4.50 a scoop for premium flavours. One of the interesting flavours which I try is Butter Beer ice-cream which has buttery taste that reminds me of peanut butter but with a hint of beer aftertaste.Besides that the outlet also offers ice cream sticks at $6 a piece. It also offers dessert wines and beers. For each day, it also offers a limited number of plated desserts whose flavours vary from day to day. Today there is 3 choices available.Lime Mojito Sphere ($4.50)It looks a jelly that is going to burst anytime soon. With a single bite, it easily bursts open, filling the mouth with lime flavoured liquid touched with a hint of alcohol.Lychee Martini Dessert ($16)The first part of the dessert consists of a pink chocolate sphere sitting on yuzu sorbert, served with tomatoes, kiwi berries, grapes and charcoal sauce. The sorbert is refreshing but melts rather fast. Interesting having tomatoes in dessert, but it goes quite well with the charcoal sauce. Inside the sphere is a light pink souffle mixture, with a jelly like purple colored mixture at the bottom. In a mouthful, it tastes sweet, a hint of sour, with popping effect in the mouth. So exciting. The second part of the plated dessert is a green grape cum blackcurrant ice cream stick, served with sour tasting powder. The powder reminds me of the sour dried plum powder that is usually served with guava fruit but in a finer texture. The green grape part of the ice cream stick is light in taste with bites of the fruit fibre. The blackcurrant side is stronger in taste and melts rather fast. Together they create an explosive taste in the mouth.Lastly is Lime Bomb Bomb which looks like a green colored chocolate ball, but bursting with lime flavoured liquid when bites into.Overall the plated desserts served are very interesting and impressive. The service is quite good too with the staffs reminding me where to get the iced water. The place is not as crowded as I thought to be.

Full FatCat Ice Cream Bar review here: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2015/10/fatcat-ice-cream-bar.htmlOpening their doors on 1st January 2015, it's safe to say that FatCat Ice Cream Bar is among the hottest dessert cafes of 2015. Known for their chef made (made from scratch!), creative ice cream flavours, and unique, whimsical plated desserts, FatCat Ice Cream Bar is so named because its founders are explorers of gourmet food; sophisticated, playful, curious, mysterious, adventurous.Ambience at FatCat Ice Cream Bar has a modern industrial feel, with its low lighting, dark coloured walls, rustic chalkboards, and sturdy furniture of metal and wood. The biggest eye-catcher here is their large, brightly lit ice cream display, showcasing all the daily flavours. As FatCat Ice Cream Bar is almost always constantly packed, expect ambient noise levels to be high.Service at FatCat Ice Cream Bar is partial self-service. Sampling, ordering, and payment is done over the counter, which results in the entrance getting very cramped with people. Staff do serve orders to your table, and they also introduce and describe the nuances of each dish, so thumbs up for their product knowledge! Not everything is available daily, as FatCat Ice Cream Bar changes its menu everyday, so check with the staff before ordering.Food at FatCat Ice Cream Bar is all about modern, creative desserts, in particular, ice cream and waffles. Generally, I find all their items here pack good flavour, and have pretty, photograph ready presentations. Only fresh ingredients are used, and the founders regularly introduce new items. Note that limited quantities are produced each day, so visiting earlier in the day is recommended. Portions are designed for sharing, and prices are typical of a dessert cafe, budget about SGD $9 per person. The Lime Mojito Sphere (SGD $4.50) are delightful bites that burst with flavour in the mouth! A bubble of lime juice and rum, garnished with lemon peel, lime zest, and edible herbs, this incredible 1-bite dessert is perfect as a start, and just as good to finish a meal here! The Deconstructed Strawberry Shortcake (SGD $12) is a creative, whimsical, playful dessert experiment. A bowl of soft Japanese sponge cake and sliced fresh strawberries, topped with sour strawberry gel and soft marshmallows, sitting on a bed of curry crumble with popping candy, with garnishings of strawberry compote, edible elderflowers, and strawberry crisps. Mix it all, and try to get every component in 1 bite for best flavour results, as eaten separately, it's rather average. Love the combination of textures and tastes, good dessert!

What has greatly set FatCat apart from other conventional Ice Cream parlors, is their creative alcoholic pairing of flavors and the availability of fine dining style plated desserts. Being conveniently situated just a stone throw away from the Bedok Town, the crowd gets really bad on weekends.Upon entering, these trays of colorful and yummy looking ice cream will simply steals all your attention away. Taking a closer look, you’ll be enticed by the different quirky flavors they got to offer you. It’s nothing like your single flavored Vanilla, Strawberry, Mango etc but expects flavors like their signature Butter Beer, Watermelon Soju Sorbet and many more.We decided to try out one of their finely plated desserts and of course their highly recommended gourmet charcoal waffle with salted egg sauce. We had their Banana Nutella ($9) which comes with Hay & Honey ice cream, laid on mixture of nutella – peanut soil and lightly caramelized bananas. Subtle sweetness from the smooth and a little creamy Hay & Honey with flavor enhanced by the nutella-peanut soil. Overall it’s quite a light dish with a little trick played on it’s presentation. It’s a definite must try Gourmet Waffle with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce ($6). Well, their salted egg yolk sauce was a big disappointment. It hardens upon cooling down on the waffle and it did not complement the waffle as well. Neither does it bring out the salted egg taste, in short, I can simply make do without it. But nonetheless, the charcoal waffle was fluffy and light, unlike those dense and heavy ones which will make you ge-lard after a few mouthfuls. Paired with 2 scoops of ice cream ($9) -Watermelon Sorbet & White Peach Sangria. Both flavors were light and refreshing with tint of alcohol taste that is not too overwhelming. A delightful marriage of fruity and alcoholic flavors. If you’re thinking of heading down for a try, you’re advisable to head down soon and early as their desserts in fact comes in limited quantities. (PS: I only manage to get my hands on this Gourmet Waffle on my third try to the cafe!) Their quirky ice cream flavors are definitely worth your try.https://poohlovesfood.wordpress.com/2015/04/04/fatcat-ice-cream-bar/ for full review with pics

For more pics and thoughts: http://lepakwithyaops.com/fatcat-ice-cream-bar-seriously-waffle-licious/Follow us on Instagram and Facebook @lepakwithyaopsDon’t be mistaken by the name as this ain’t your typical “cat” cafe. So why “Fat Cat Ice Cream Bar”? Simply because everything is made from scratch, get it? Tubs of artisanal ice cream, crispy waffles and gourmet desserts are all made in-house, daily! The brainchild(s) behind Fat Cat Cafe are my secondary classmate and her brother! Many a time, waffles are part of a cafe’s extensive menu, but here at Fat Cat Ice Cream Bar, waffles are their specialty and focus. The quote above aptly portrays the quality of their waffles.Waffles are available in Gourmet ($6) and Original ($4) style, without ice cream. While Ice Cream are available in Standard ($3.9) and Premium ($4.5).Their hot seller will be the gourmet Charcoal waffle with Salted Egg Yolk sauce. You are probably salivating even before any further description! We ordered the Original waffle as well, Latte ($4), Tea ($3.5) and 4 Ice Cream flavours (Espresso, Hay Honey, Earl Grey Lavender and Pistachio). It’s amazing how thinly crisp the crust was, yet so uniquely light and fluffy on the inside. That’s probably the reason why I had to and bothered to wait 35-40mins for them on a Sunday afternoon.Do check out their gourmet plated desserts too. To keep you hooked, these tantalizing desserts changes daily/weekly.Not coffee centric, thus explains the standard of their latte. Beans are from major supplier, Santino Coffee. Apart from coffee and tea from Twinings, craft beer and alcohol are available as well.In essence, if you are looking for waffle, THIS IS THE PLACE!
