this came after half an hour with a side of buttered rice and coleslaw.

the sauce, to be honest, made the entire dish look terribly unappetizing.

it was much too sweet to be spicy and well, i'd rather just have my cod without any sauce.

tragically, i couldn't even stomach it towards the end because the sauce was just too cloyingly sweet.

Ordering the classic fish & chip at fish & co. can never go wrong. The batter layer was so crispy than you could even hear the sound when you take a bite. The fish itself was sweet and fresh together with the cheese sauce, it was just too awesome. The fries come in thick cut and it was not oily as well. However, you might have to turn up early during their peak period, as their waiting time can be up to 20mins.

Personally, I prefer the fish & chips from Fish & Co compared to the Manhattan Fish Market, in terms of taste and varieties. For our gathering of around 8 people, we tried going earlier (first one arrived at 6.30 pm) since fish & co. does not accept reservations after 6 pm. Well, luckily we had the table early because the place was filled up by 7 pm. Since we were here for a birthday celebration, we thought of signing up for their privilege card ($50) as on their promotional flyer, you can get $80 fish points available immediately to offset the bill which seemed like a great deal. Plus, there's an offer for the birthday month for the cardholder. However, when we approached the manager to find out more, he told us that they were out of cards which means he cannot issue as one straightaway. Also, he says that even if we got the card today, we cannot use it to offset our current bill!! He says its the fault of the management for not stating the conditions properly. Now, I don't know who is at fault here, but definitely this does not work out well for fish & Co. as it only made us think that they were not sincere at all in getting customers to sign up for their privilege card.

Staff was short on that day (guess we should have seen it coming, there's a sign outside the restaurant indicating immediate vacancies for staff) and it was really hard to get any attention from the wait staff (who seemed quite flustered and new at their job). When we requested for a candle to be put onto our cake slices, we were a bit flabbergasted that they did not light the candle...we had to spend quite a while trying to get the staff's attention again.....
Well, to give her the benefit of the doubt, she thought we wanted the manager and her to sing the birthday song and she will light the candle then. Anyway, we declined her kind offer and we sang our birthday song ourselves discreetly (we are kinda too old for over-the-top birthday songs)

Ok, enough griping over the service and let's focus on the food.

The classic fish and chips is still the best. Standard has remained all through these years. Can't really go wrong with their signature dish.

- Classic fish and chips

However, standard for the seafood platter seemed to have dropped. The prawns and mussels were quite fresh and good but the rice beneath was too hard. It was made more palatable only if we ate it with the butter sauce that came with the mussels. The grilled calamari did not taste as nice as I recalled...the fish was also just ordinary, nothing special.

- Seafood platter for 2

The chocolate layer mousse cake looked good but was not actually nice at all. Kind of a let-down for a chocolate cake. Think the caramel taste in it overpowers the chocolate.

- Chocolate layer mousse

The hot fudge chocolate cake fared better. The cake was moist, which went well with the hot fudge and vanilla ice cream.

Well, I will not say that I will not come back again, but next time I'll just stick with their classic fish & chips.

Calamari rings here are not bad and the freshly fried calamari rings goes really well with chilli sauce or the sauce that is provided. The evenly covered batter around the calamari rings adds a nice crunch to the springy squid rings and this could unknowingly have you eatibg more than you know as the dish is really very tastly and fragrant. A good side dish great for sharing.

Still, I went for their good old "The Best Fish & Chips in Town" which consist of deep fried fish, fries with their lemon butter sauce. The batter is really crispy, I can hear the crunch as I bite into the fish. Also, I love the soft and flaky fish fillet which is very fresh tasting and sweet. The lemon butter sauce is also quite alright, it helps to add more dimension of flavours to the fish.

The coleslaw dressing is a little bit salty to me but fine to my other friends.
The rice is ok, not too hard and well flavored.

Cheesy baked scallop It has been a long time since i ate scallop, somemore cheesy baked scallop which is so fragrant and nice and sinful. Fresh scallop and nice sauce.Fish and chipThe most common but authentic dish in Fish & co will be their fish and chips. It's not easy to make a perfect fish and chip though it seemed easy. This fish fillet is nice, quite thick and perfectly deep fried, not too oily. I love the cheesy sauce on top of the fish.

Ordered the Fried calamari from fish and co. It wasnt very awesome because the dish contains too much of the rough side of calamari. It lacks the smooth side of calamari which I personally prefer over. In addition, it was too oily even for fried making it a bit distasteful especially if you have completed a meal already. Too much salt and oil was added. I would not order this again.

Again, it was my first time and I didn't quite expect the restaurant to be so crammed, which is very unlike the other Fish & Co. outlets I have been to in the past. We were seated all the way inside, at the far end of the restaurant where the kitchen counter is.

I was quite taken aback by the mess of the area while walking towards our table. The place was lacking sufficient space for seating and both my boyfriend and I had to slowly fit ourselves into our seats without knocking into the neighboring tables.

Also, where we were seated, the staff from the kitchen and the wait staff were talking so loudly, it felt like we were at the coffee shop. I was not very happy with the ambience at all.

I must also bring up the issue of customer service. I don't know how many of you have taken notice of the exceptionally good service Fish & Co. used to have. They usually have a specific waiter who would introduce him/herself to each table and the service would be very personal. However, I have noticed that it has all disappeared along the way somehow. On top of that, the service staff never smiled once and there was no sense warmth in the way they talked and served us.

But apart from that, the food is good as usual. We ordered the Seafood Platter for 2 ($39++) and topped it up for a complete meal with an additional serving of Fish Chowder and Cola Tonic.

I will definitely return to Fish & Co., but most likely never step into the outlet at AMK Hub again. For the same price, I'd rather pay for an outlet that has at least a more decent dining ambience and friendlier service.

I ordered their Spaghetti Pomodoro which was the cheapest lunch set at $9.95. I immediately regretted this choice, because for one or two dollars more, I would definitely be more satisfied with another set like their seafood items or fish and chips. The spaghetti is decent and the portion isn't very small, but it's really just spaghetti tossed in plain tomato paste with no other ingredients. So you could get a way much better item if you pay a little more. I was really envious of my eating partner who made a better choice with the Artic fish and chips.

I had the soup of the day which was mushroom soup which was decent with creamy mushroom bits, but I felt it was a little watery. You can choose coffee, tea, soft drink or their in house tonic drinks for your the complimentary drink. I had kola tonic which was very refreshing and a personal favourite at fish & co. The dessert served was chocolate mousse, served in this really small bowl. The chocolate was decent, but it's a really small portion and you shouldn't expect much.

Regardless of whether you order fish or seafood from fish and co, it will all taste good and delicious. I like fish and co as they do offer quite a lot of different cooking method with their fish. You can have the normal fish and chip, or the sambal fish, baked salmon, or even seafood platter. Their ingredient are generous and fresh. Prices are quite reasonable too.

Met up for shopping with my best friend, and decided to have dinner at Fish & Co. Ambience was decent, with a clean, minimalist type of layout and décor. We had the free-flow salad bar that night, and Fish & Co. has a decent range of options in their salad bar. The food was fresh, and it came complimentary with our choice of main courses. I chosen the baked rice seafood under the set meal. Some items on the menu come without the free-flow salad bar, although you could pay about $3 to include it.

We went to Fish & Co. AMK Hub for dinner where we ordered the seafood platter for two. It was really a good meal as we were very filling after finishing all the food. It costs around $50 after tax and service charge. The meal was value for money as the prawns, squids, mussels, fish were huge and fresh. The butter rice was very fragrant too.

It looks spicy from the picture isn't it? Indeed it was pretty spicy, more than my friend's black pepper sauce on her stingray. Nonetheless it was a really shiok experience for my tastebuds hehe. I had almost all of the sauce by making sure my grilled fish had enough of the peri-peri sauce.

Thankfully I decided to try a new item on its menu, if not I would forever be "stuck" with just its famous Fish & Chips and not know that there are other dishes worth exploring on its menu!
