A good spread of food and lots of seafood. Just the pictures alone make it seem attractive isn’t it? Indeed an enjoyable meal but the quality of food could be improved. Love the jap desserts – mocha etc. Price is not too expensive and rather affordable for buffet. Trying once is enough though. continue reading

Seen all the bad reviews of their service and decided to try them out. More importantly, it was the promotion that attracted us. From 10 Sep 2011 - 10 Oct 2011, simply 'like' their facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/fishermans.market.SG) and show the page from our phone to the cashier, we get 20% off. Actually, we were suppose to quote '20% discount' when we called in to make the reservation but we didn't do that. The cashier was nice enough to let us off when I showed the page on my iphone. Contrary to what others claimed of the bad service, I thought the crews were quite good. Clearing of tables and oysters station might need a little improvement but nothing to get angry about. I stood near the oysters station to watch why there is always a queue. I realised that he only open 3 oysters at one go. So if there's no customers there, the crew will not open any. I guess this is done to maintain the freshness of the oysters. Special commendation to the crew at the drink station with super powerful memory. Even though it was a one man show (ie. juices, hot drinks and soft drinks all done by the same person), his memory is amazing. I watched as people started ordering drink. They only need to recite it once and the crew didn't ask a second time. 8 glasses of different type of drinks. How'd he do that?? On top of that, we brought in our own little cake to celebrate a friend's birthday. One of the service crew assisted to hide the cake and it came out at our coordinated time. For all these, I don't really think service is as bad as what others claimed it to be. Maybe we arrived on a good day.On the other hand, if choices of food can be increased, it would be awesome. I mean, for that price....we would definitely be expecting more. Here's a look at some of the spread. For more pictures of the spread, please visit their facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/fishermans.market.SG). And here's what I ate.... My favorite would be the black pepper crab, cream brulee and oysters that were pretty fresh. Remember to try those cute mochi in different flavors too. The chicken wings/drums though are a little soggy. Might have been left in contact with air for too long.We paid $44.90++ less 20% discount. It comes with free flow of drinks.Being new in Singapore, I'd say....give them a little more time. continue reading

We arrived at 6.10pm but they didn’t let us in cos it wasn’t 6pm on their clock yet -_-About 10 minutes later, the service staff standing at the reception of the restaurant told us we could go in. Having a large group of 12 of us altogether, it took us some time trying to gather everyone. What surprised me was when she rudely barked at the few of us standing nearby saying, “are you all going up? If not, i cannot let other people in (pointing to a couple standing in front of her).”I don’t know if my friends sensed her tone, but it did bother me for that few minutes after. However, I managed to close one eye to it. A great night awaited and I wasn’t going to let the poor service ruin my night. We took an escalator to the second floor of the restaurant where the dining are was. We were all in awe of the restaurant, which looked really spacious and minimalist. The buffet spread was varied, consisting of cold appetisers, sashimi, sushi, finger food, pasta, macaroni & cheese, pizza, soup, oysters, chili crabs, shrimp, etc.The food was generally well prepared. But of course, it isn't comparable to what you'll get at let's say a hotel or fine dining restaurant. Everything was overall well-marinated and very tasty. Food was enjoyable, but sadly, I cant say the same about their service. They were slow to respond and forgot to serve my coffee twice.I would say it was a nice experience, but I don't think I'll be going back there again. When I pay that price, I would hope to get see service of at least a certain standard. continue reading

Went with my friend on national day eve. The speed of replenish of food is not fast enough. Since it was a public holiday eve, the restaurant was quite pack. Order the drink from a waitress, wait for 30 mins.. But still did not arrive. Order from another waitress again, she told us to order more because there was alot of drinks being ordered. But after waiting for 30 mins more, still did not arrive. In the end, go to counter and order the drinks myself. It seems like the restaurant has a shortage of staff and cannot handle the weekend crowds. The food is fresh, especially the oysters. The staff only open the oysters when customers order. The sushi rice is firm, sashimi serving is quite thick and fresh.. The dessert section is woah! Got fruits, marshmallow, chocolate fondue, cakes and etc.. The fruits like watermelon is quite sweet.Overall, the price is quite steep especially during weekends. The price will worth while if going during weekdays. continue reading

A new seafood buffet place situated near the heart of Singapore's nightlife scene. With the wide variety of fresh seafood and other delectable spread at a much affordable price, I'm sold. Besides, we've got a spectacular view of the Singapore River and adventurous goers on the Bungee ride. For a seafood lover like me, $39.90++ was a value worth price for unlimited servings of fresh oysters, sashimi, crabs, prawns, mussels and etc. Other items on the buffet spread included cooked chilli and pepper crabs, pizzas, sushi, tempura, pasta and etc.Generally, everything was tantalizing except the crabs which were just so-so to me. The flesh of the crabs felt a little 'old' and clammy. I love my oysters squeezed with lemon juice topped with Tobasco sauce. Fisherman's Market was not stingy for both the oysters and lemons were replenish quickly. Here's my plate of oysters and prawns that spells HEAVEN. The Cheese Fondue came as a surprise as I didn't expect it to be available in a Japanese-Western fusion buffet place, Melted cheese was a tad on the sweeter side, complemented well with the croûton and veggies. Clips with your table number were available for patrons to place their orders for tempura, cheese fondue and other food that requires time to be served.A great alternative for hotel buffets! continue reading
