Didnt know they make fruit tarts but bought it anyway for a friend's birthday. I trust their tarts more than other brands. It didnt disappoint. Most bakeries fill their tarts with custard cream only, while this pear fruit tart has generous thin slices of pear in it. Every bite is filled with layers of pears. The friend was impressed as she has not eaten such quality tarts in Singapore before. The tart cost about $16 and its 5cm in diameter. Its an awesome breakfast! Filled the tummy for 2 girls w

Flor opened by a japanese pastry chef at Duxton Hill. Gives you a very clean and fresh feeling upon stepping into the shop. There's only a few seats so most people choose to take away. Earl Grey Choco - Light and delicate earl grey cream piped onto soft vanillia swiss roll, wrapped with dark chocolate meringue and filled with sweet banana. SUPERB !

Tucked upon the hilly outpost of Duxton is Flor Patisserie, a little dessert cafe made famous for their Japanese-inspired French pastries. Manning the shop is Chef Yamashita with years of experience crafting desserts and I have to say, their desserts almost never disappoints me whenever I pay them a visit.

Napoleon ($6.95) is Flor’s rendition of the crumbly mille-feuille. It looks unassuming and messed up for something labelled “best-seller” right? Boy I was wrong when I had my first bite because I can’t find a single word in my ever expanding dictionary to describe every spoonful of strawberry joy! If I dare say which I will say. This is my benchmark for future mille-feuilles. I dare say this is the best I can find in town.

The cake dressed in white also known as Formage Blanc ($6.60). A banana and chocolate mousse based dessert housed above a coconut dacquoise base. It was light. It was wonderful and a true beauty to behold. Now we know where to find her!

Patisseries like Flor are the trend in Singapore now. There’s one every corner but if you want good ones, Flor is one to consider. After all, it’s good to enjoy the life of a Parisian once in a while…

A generous amount of strawberries used, the looks of the sweet-looking strawberries drew me to it in the first place. Perhaps it wasn't the season of berries; it turned out rather disappointing with sour strawberries with every bite. The crumbly bits added more texture to the otherwise boring cake. It could have been better if the strawberries weren't limited to the top layer and were interspersed throughout for it to taste like a strawberry soufflé instead of a light lemon pound cake with strawberries.
Still okay

Mont Blanc is a really pretty cake to have for a birthday. The best part is it tasted just as good as its look. Flor Patisserie has been a trusted brand for a while to order cake for different occassion. One of my favourite cakes among all is Mont Blanc. The sponge cake is soft and topped with yummy french chestnut cream and the whole sweetened chestnuts all the way from Japan. The cake is further decorated with strawberries and blueberries. Strongly recommended.

- The Shop
Flor Pâtisserie is set up by Chef Yamashita that was previously from the popular Patisserie Glace.

The little cosy place is located in a shophouse along Duxton Hill. They have few small tables indoor & outdoor that is not able to serve a crowd.

Their Japanese-Styled Patisserie are entirely made of natural and fresh ingredients. They emphasis on using only the freshest and best quality ingredients without any preservatives/raising agents/stabilisers in their patries.

‘Flor’ is a Portuguese word for flower, and is pronounced in Japanese as ‘fu-ro-ru’. Widely recognised and accepted as a symbolic representation of love, passion, and beauty, the flower embodies the delicate balance of nature and beauty. All their cakes look very pretty and are mostly filled with tropical delights.

Using traditional French method of aeration which does not use any chemical leavening, Chef Yamashita creates his signature strawberry shortcake, which consists of naturally soft sponge filled with fresh strawberries and luscious cream, topped with summer berries.

Original Ice Cheese Tart @ $3.20

In a tartlette of an almond cookie and FLOR's signature creamcheese filling, there is a flurry of tastes and textures; featured most prominently is the melt-in-your-mouth lightly salted creamcheese filling, followed by the incredibly fragrant crunch of the almond cookie. Lucky you if you like this cheese tart as it can be kept in the freezer for up to 3weeks!

- My Opinion
The sponge cakes are soft & moist and I believe they use the same sponge cake as the base for all their cakes because they taste alike to me.

Don't be deceive by the thick white cream. You won't get sick of it even you have to finish the whole slice of cake by yourself. I suppose they are made of egg white and sugar instead of whipping cream therefore it's so light.

However the French chestnut cream from Waguri Millefeuille are too sweet after a few mouth, but the overall is still good, infinitely better tasting than those overly sweet, crusty, gritty frosting made with shortening and powdered sugar.

I will definitely be back to try other mouth-watering cake!

Ordered a high tea set and an individual tart. I definitely enjoy the cakes and the afternoon. The cakes still lingers in my mind and I would like to try the rest of its selections.

All of us love the mango pie ($6), I am especially impressed with the flaky pastry and dense almond-laced filling. The mango pie was the sweetest and heaviest amongst everything we tried but it wasn't cloying at all. Baked creme d’amande tart filled with pastry cream, and topped with fresh ripe mango and blueberries. This has a superbly moist and buttery tart base and is so darn good that I had it on both of my visits.

This place serves yummy French pastries with Japanese influence. It is baked by a Japanese Chef Yamashita. Located at Duxton Hill but they just open a branch at Takashimaya last Oct.This Patisserie shop has limited seating with a few tables & chairs. A glass display shows their cakes available. Note that they only accept cash in the shop, no credit card facilities in the shop.

Was at the Duxton area with my friends for brunch and we HAD to try out Flor as we love Glace (Chef Yamashita, the man behind the yummy cakes at Glace, opened Flor). The cakes were all about $6-7. The Cacao Royal was good, chocolate was rich and dense, but nothing special. The Earl Grey Chocolat was surprisingly sweet (I had expected a tea cake to be not-so sweet), but my friends loved it. Its a green tea sponge/mousse cake, and it was sooo good. The green tea is flavourful but not overpowering, and its neither too sweet nor bitter, given a really fragrant aftertaste. The combination of sponge and cream makes this an easy cake to eat. Really interesting and recommended! Will definitely be back to try their other cakes, especially the much raved about strawberry shortcake.

The cakes here are quite unique and many have tried to copy them. I like that now they have little takeaway individual packs of muffins, cookies, macaroons and madeleines. It's priced reasonably and it's very well presented. I love the simplicity of their individual takeaway snacks. The macaroon was very delicious! Everything is baked to perfection. The service is nice and friendly. Love their big cakes in the window display. It's all very pretty and would make great presents!

Love this little cake shop. Everything is so neat and pretty and presented so wonderfully. It's not very expensive considering it's not a mass-market bakery. The little madeleines and cookies and macarons are wrapped individually and you can buy them in single portions. They taste great! Very moreish and not greasy. You can taste the premium ingredients being used. They have other colourful cakes in the display case but I haven't tried those yet. Service is nice and friendly.
