This is probably and the only carrot cake which I fancy a lot since young when my mom used to always buy that back whenever she's at bugis! Thus I decided to settle dinner over at albert food centre for the famous carrot cake! $2.50 for the most fabulously awesome delicious carrot cake ever! Such a huge portion, especially for that amount. What makes their carrot cake good is the uncle with his skill and years of experience manning the flames. This is definitely what I call, a true local dish!

The carrot cake was fried to a delightful starchy crisp with a generous amount of eggs that covered most of the small pieces of carrot cake and is not oily. The eggs together with the garlic gave it a very strong aroma and with the sprinkled spring onions its even better. The chilli seems to be quite little amount but is nice. With all of it eaten together, the aroma it emits make you finish all up without realizing and will crave for more.

The FoodI ordered the black version carrot cake. The carrot cake texture was very soft and melted in my mouth. One good thing is the mixing of the eggs and black carrot cake was so perfectly well-balanced and had some nice crispy edge. I could taste the fried egg and chai poh in almost every bite.Taste wise is simply fantastic although the sweet sauce tend to be a bit overly sweet for my liking. The PriceReasonably priced at $2.50 per plateOverallI will definitely come back again to try the white

Reasonably priced at $2.50 per plate

Overall
I will definitely come back again to try the white version and highly recommended to try this!

I love eating fried carrot cake. I love both black and white version of fried carrot cake. And amongst all those that i have tried, this particular stall is one of my personal favourite. Long queue can be anticipated during lunch, dinner and weekends. But i think it is worth queuing up for. I always ordered the $3 and requested to have extra chai po added. It always came with a generous amount of egg added. The carrot cake tasted moist and nicely fried with the dark sweet sauce.

This is my all time favourite carrot cake. I like it so much to willingly queued up for 30 minutes just to order it. Though i get to choose between the black and the white but my choice has always been the black one. I enjoy the taste of dark sweet sauce using to fry the carrot cake with the egg. It was fried so well to give it a slightly crispy texture and fragrance. I always requested to have extra preserved radish added to my fried carrot cake. It goes very well with a cup of Kopi O.

This is one of the few famous stalls in the hawker centre and being a big fan of fried carrot cake, I decided to try even though there was a long queue.First of all, be prepared for bad service. The chef won't even acknowledge your order, or even ask if you want your carrot cake spicy or not.I think this stall is over rated on the taste. I think this stall is over rated on the taste. It's actually just average tasting; the only thing is the huge portion that makes it very worthwhile. Unlike other stalls where they cook up their white carrot cake in large pieces, this stall fries their white carrot cake in bits and clumps. I wouldn't say this method of frying isn't good, but I still prefer my white carrot cake in large pieces.

I recommend this for sharing as a side dish.

The chai poh was not too salty but went well with the dish. They were also very generous with the amount of egg added. it was indeed really good.

Wa sei, the portion is really wu hua man. Fit for a king. Cheap, tasty, bountiful; very satisfying meal. Their carrot cake is soft but got a little bit of chao ta smell, very fragrant. I think their white fried carrot cake is nice too because a lot of people ordered that instead of the black one.

The long queue attracted me to this stall with me waiting for at least 10 minutes.Worth the wait? I shall say that the carrot cake is of decent taste but it's really nothing to shout about. The kueh is not crispy but smells as good as one, the spring onions look like they have been at least 2 days old, not fresh at all. However, the amount given is humongous, fit for a king. The only thing is, sometimes, quantity does not equate quality.A hit for those trying to fill their stomach but a fair mi

This stall offers the black and the white version of fried carrot cake. I have always ended up ordering the black and the white at the same time as both are really nice. The black one has a nice taste of dark sweet sauce and the white is nicely fried with egg. I always requested for extra chye poh for both. There is always a queue during the peak hours but it is worth waiting.

The fried carrot cake tasted a little off today. It's still nice though just not as nice as i last tried. One thing to be commendable is the portion is definitely good for $2.00 but not as much egg as compared to the $2.50 portion.I still loved the taste of preserved radish that gives its the nicely salty taste. The carrot cake itself tasted soft and moist. I suppose they have it specially made as i saw rolls of it nicely packed with their stall name printed on the packaging. Still, if you want

Still, if you want a plate of nice fried carrot cake, you can still give this stall a try. They do have both the white and the black version. If you like the taste of black sweet sauce then black is the better choice.

Guan Kee Fried Carrot Cake is one of the nicest fried carrot cakes that i ever tried so far. You can choose from the white or the black version. Both are equally nice, but my personal favorite is the white one. I do not really like the sweet taste of the black one. The portion for $2.50 is rather reasonable.
