Recently the causal Japanese restaurant has re-opened after been closed for upgrading. The restaurant is known for its deep fried pork cutlet. There is 50% off the items in the menu for the first 3 days. However the well-known sandwiches and side dishes are not available during the promotion period. Although there is a lot of people queuing up for the promotion, one can find a seat easily as food is served quite fast and the turnover is fast too. After making payment at the cashier, one would be given a number tag where food will be served to you at your table.Tonteki (pork steak) ($22)Served with Gonzalez bairin's special sauce, pickles and deep fried garlic slices.Plus a bowl of miso soup. The dish is one of the new dishes in the new menu. The meat is juicy and goes well with the wasabi like sauce. However the garlic slices are not crispy and texture too chewy.Ton Kara ($2.50)Available in 3 types : pork, chicken and chicken wing. Battered with Bairin's way of battering, then cooked with CONFIT cooking method which involves cooking the meat in its own fat.The pork version is too fatty with the thick layers of fat, while the chicken version is too salty. The chicken wing fares slightly better.Overall the food is average with improvements needed. Service is not bad with staffs clearing the tables swiftly.

I was never good at taking very spicy but I figured Japanese spiciness is usually not that spicy so I decided go ahead and ordered a Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen for lunch. The Spicy Tonkotsu Raman ($16.20) came with a ball of chilli and mince pork ball. Just by looking at the ball of Chili meat, I knew it would be too spicy for me. Usually I would take out some of the chili so my soup wouldnt be so spicy but because the chili and the mince pork are rolled together, you will have to give up some the meat if you want to remove the chili. A very stupid idea in my opinion. In the end I mixed the whole ball of meat into my soup. A decision which I regretted immediately. The Ramen is chewy at just the right texture, however the soup is now so spicy that I could barely continue eating.I might come back for some of their other items next time, but I will definitely not recommend Spicy Tonkotse Ramen unless you can really take very very high level of heat.

Taste: The food has a unique taste compared to other Japanese restaurants. It is addictive and makes me want to have it again.Environment: Environment was alright. A bit crowded.Service: Service experience was mostly positive. Except that the pinoy staff at the cashier was slightly rude and slow.Clean: No problems with cleanliness.Price: They had a 1 for 1 promotion when I ate this. Otherwise, the price is quite expensive, and everything costs a few dollars more than the Jcube branch.

Once again, I was back at OpenRice office to collect contest prize (The Hungry Games) with fellow OpenRicers midas400, y_lyn & happybaby03. After collecting our prizes, we went Ginza Bairin @ ION for dinner. Concept here is similar to MOS Burger where you place your order at the counter, get a table & your food will be served to you when it is ready.Chicken Katsu Set comes with rice, pickles & miso soup. Chicken evenly breaded & tender. However, they do not refil the cabbages here. We also add-on some sides like Oyster, Prawn, Scallop & Cheese. All are items are very fresh & nicely breaded.
