I love Grandma's nasi lemak the best. Their nasi lemak rice is different from others. The rice here is very soft and have a rich milky coconut fragrance. The chicken is well cooked until soft and the curry paste is more like nonya dry type of curry.I love their ahchars that comes along with the rice, slightly sourish and crunchy.Their sambal chilli is must try too,not too spicy and slightly sweet. continue reading

Grandma's is a local restaurant that sells local food in a restaurant setting. The place has a wide variety of local food for you to choose from. I ordered a Nasi Lemak which was pretty good, but not outstanding. The rice was pretty fragrant, having a nice lemak coconut flavour, and it was also paired with many different sides. The main side was a curry chicken which was flavourful and moist. Not a bad choice for an average meal. continue reading

The honey chicken here at Grandma's is really delicious. Each piece of chicken is fried to perfection such that is remains crisp and crunchy while still being juicy and slightly fatty. Each piece is coated with their signature honey sauce, and the dish goes perfectly with plain rice. The crunchy noodles at the bottom of the chicken pieces kind of get in the way though. continue reading

Came trying this outlet with groupon voucher - $19.95 for 2 Nasi Lemak + 2 Drinks + 2 Desserts at Grandma's worth $42.10. First lets talk about the ambiance and setup of the restaurant, Semi open concept whereby shoppers can see the fellow diners from outside, nice ambient lighting using metal conical lamp shades and just a single bulb, nice wall paintings to give that old nostalgic feel as well, wooden tables. Two condiments were offered, sambal chilli and chilli padi. The nasi lemak set is supposed to be the signature of the place, the first impression it gave me when its served is the fragrant rice and the nice dish presentation, small portion of ikan bilis onion, 2 pieces of curry chicken, achar, half an egg on top of another sambal chilli paste with cucumber slice. The chicken pieces was too small though, the gravy is nice thick type like rendang curry, that's a plus. Drinks we had barley and dessert we tried gula melaka sago and cendol. The dessert bowl is too small for the amount served with contents almost over spilling. Pretty satisfied with the dessert with lots of red beans and not overly sweetened taste but really they could have done better with a slightly bigger bowl with same quantity served. Overall a good eat, if only the chicken pieces were a bit bigger or at least offer 3 instead of 2. But at full price of $42, i may not have come here for my nasi lemak fix. continue reading

This fried kway teow from this restaurant is really fragrant and full of different types of fresh seafoods in it. The kway teow is very smooth and easy to chew. This version here is not as dark in colour as those fried kway teow bought from most of the food center, but the taste is definitely still remain the usual fragrant taste of the dark soya sauce, except that their chilli used in this dish is even more spicer than the other. Love those large pieces of sotongs in the kway teow as they are very chewy and blend in well with the kway teow too. continue reading
