This is not the first time i go to My grandma's. In fact, this is my X times there and i developed a couple of must have dishes already. Usually i go there to curb my cravings for these dishes. lol. the restaurant actually gives you a very homely feel as they really serve home cooked style food.

So there is a peep to what are my must have dishes in my Grandma's

Balachan 's lady's fingers. this is definitely my favourite dish. every time i go to My Grandma's, this is a must order dish lol. the balachan chilli is not too spicy for me and is cooked just nice. Not too soggy and it is not too dry for me to go with the rice. i can finish my bowl of rice with this alone!

Next is the spinach toufu with shimiji mushrooms. this is also one of my favorite dish! the toufu is home made , topped with a layer of spinach. The sauce for the toufu goes very well with white rice too!

First of all, I must say this outlet is pretty big, easily see 25 tables in total. came by to utilize my Groupon voucher which gives me chicken leg set, one drink and 1 dessert.

For drinks, I chose grass jelly which is served with crushed ice instead of cubes and a small pot of sugar syrup is provided, add to sweetness as per desired.

The first impression for the chicken leg is better than the nasi lemak. The chicken leg was freshly fried as it was still hot when i cut it. It also comes with sides like cucumber of chilli onion, some achar, some nasi lemak onion chilli mix. The rice was surprising fragrant, much like the usual chicken rice that we eat. I also like the sambal chilli which is left on the table in the holder, though it does not comes with ikan bilis or anchovies in it, it actually compliments the chicken leg and the small side dishes very well.

The cendol is highly recommended as well. with lots of red bean, grass jelly and milk. Only gripe is the ice is not fine enough so you still hv to make effort to crush it. But actually letting it melt a bit more then drink it like a beverage is also as good.

I did not really like the staff service though, a little too passive, i walk out of the restaurant with them looking away and not even offering a greeting or goodbye.

We ordered char kway teow for lunch when we dined here recently. The char kway teow is pretty tasty having good flavour from the black sauce and not being too overly greasy. It was full of delicious and fresh seafood which added texture and contrasting flavour. However it was too small a portion which meant that I was not full after eating this. The high price of more than $10 is also a deterrent.

Steam Chicken with was abit cold but the meat is tender. Generous amount of crunchy bean sprout was given but prolong soaking in the sauce makes it salty and oily. Chicken rice was alright.
Would come back for the Nasi Bukhari again .

Grandma's is famous for their Nasi Lemak which my mom loves so much she has been constantly bugging me to bring her to eat it after I introduced to her months ago. Grandma's version has impressed me with its appetizing sauce and soft juicy tofu with a crispy yet not oily exterior. The dish is generously covered with mushroom and paired with blanched spinach which is both my favourite. I am sure I can polish 2 bowls of rice with this dish alone.

Thought the price can be on the high side, I really like Grandma's for their food has such a homely feel and taste.

I gotta agree that Grandma's serves one of the best Nasi Lemak in Singapore. A good portion of coconut milk infused aromatic rice was served with their highly recommended curry chicken. The must order drink right here is the grass jelly drink. The grass jelly was served with crushed ice in a glass with a jar of sweetened syrup for you to adjust the sweetness in accordance to personal liking.

A cosy place with comfort foods coupled with attentive service. These are the good enough reasons to get me to come back.

I quite like the char kway teow at grandma's. There is a slight wok hei taste and the noodles are all seasoned well so they are very tasty. The char kway teow also has tons of ingredients in it. However the price is quite high for the small portion given. Costing about 10 dollars for a measly plate of char kway teow seems rather expensive to pay especially when the portion is not big!

Grandmas has lots of local food of relatively high standard in a air conditioned restaurant setting. The food here is relatively good although it feels really expensive to pay more than ten dollars for a plate of char Kway teow. The noodle dish was pretty tasty though without being too greasy and having lots of fresh ingredients for more taste and contrast in texture. Also good is the chendol with its thick and fresh coconut milk and yummy gula Melaka

If you are like me who always love to eat desserts, then this chendol from Grandma's is a must try for you. The ice is really smooth and the portion is quite generous. The cooked red beans are very smooth and the greenish agar agar is very chewy too. The important ingredient in this dessert is definitely the coconut milk, which generous amount of it has been topped on it which make it really fragrant and appetitizing.

A visit to this oulet at Nex never disappoints, and this time was no exception.
It was a busy and crowded Friday evening and the tables were filling up fast at Grandma's.
We decided to order some of our ''úsuals'' and try some new dishes as well.

Our usual is always Grandma's specialty - Fried Rice!
The Fried Rice is prepared with a secret recipe that gives it a special Ooomph!!
It also has a generous amount of prawns - my favourite.

One of us tried the Assam Prawns with Rice.
The rice chosen was Chicken Rice. At Grandma's you have a choice of 3 types of rice -
Nasi Lemak, Nasi Bukhari or Chicken Rice. Of course, there's plain whit rice as well.
The Assam Prawns tasted good with the Chicken Rice.
The Assam Prawns were not too spicy and the onions were crunchy and added to the
overall flavour of the dish.

The two side dishes, Kailan with Garlic, and Bean sprouts with Dry Cuttlefish were
great complements to the main dishes.
The stir-fried Bean Sprouts-Dry Cuttlefish combination was awesome!
This was our new must have!!!
In addition to those two sides, The Foo Yong Egg- another specialty - also enhanced the dining experience.

The cold Grass Jelly drinks went well with the food - another good choice!

It seems like almost everything on the menu will not disappoint - true to the spirit of
Grandma's.

it would be better if more toppings were added. the few slices of fishes, shredded raddish and generous servings of onion makes the meal rather lacking. as a personal preference, i would prefer to have lesser onion due to the strong taste.

their excellent service ought to be complimented. the waiters and waitresses are efficient and polite. i waited less than 10 min for my food to arrive and is welcomed with a smile.

however, i'm still a little reluctant as to giving it an overall excellent rating as the price and quality of food isnt matched. paying $10.50 for a bowl of noodles that taste normal... my friends also tried the chicken rice and nasi lemak also $10.50 ( inclusive of GST). ratings given are similar. taste is ok but not worth the price.

it is a good place for gathering/ chilling out. will return for such activities but for a normal meal.. i guess cheaper alternatives are available.

This restaurant has become one of my favourites and I make it a point to go there at least once in two weeks.
Im also making it a point to try different dishes from their extensive menu.
For this visit, we tried the Nasi Bukhari -a relative of Nasi Briyani, but with a slightly different flavour, and, definitely less oily.
The set comes with a special pickle, achar, fried chicken and beef rendang.
We asked to change that to chicken rendang instead.
If you want more rice, you can order an extra serving as well.
We then ordered two made to order vegetable dishes - kai lan and lady's fingers - stir fried with garlic and minus oyster sauce.
That's the best part of the vegetable and seafood menu - you can have it your way.
To top that we had mixed fruit juice - green apple and orange - simply refreshing!
With a cozy ambience and great service, I will be back to see Grandma soon!
