Organic Granola and Muesli ($12): This was crunchy and good and I love the balance of the sweet berries and the yogurt! Don't think this is Greek yogurt but I'd like it better if it is.

Poached Eggs ($17): Essentially an Eggs Benedict, this was two poached eggs atop a bed of smoked salmon, gruyere and thick toast. The eggs were wonderfully runny and the smoked salmon was fresh and quite generous.

Bacon and Mushroom Aglio Olio ($16): It was very flavourful and they were also generous with the ingredients! The serving was big so it'll definitely fill up those hungry folks out there! But as with any Aglio Olio, this was rather oily too.

Linguine Bolognese ($16.50): This was another huge plate of pasta. It came with minced beef, onions, carrots, tomatoes herbs and parmesan cheese atop the heap of linguine below. My friend said it was good, but not extraordinary.

Steak and Cheese Pie ($16): The lean beef cubes were sufficiently tender, combined with the melted cheddar cheese... Mmm so good! Plus the shortcrust pastry was not too thick so you don't get full just on carbs. The serving may look small but my guy friend found it just nice. Oh and it comes served with a side salad and some chips.

Overall Group Therapy Coffee does its food well. Although it's not that cheap since most dishes are above the $15 mark, the portion and quality of food justifies the price. They have free Wifi too so if you come during off-peak hours, you'll have a conducive environment and nice ambience to do some work!

Overall, i feel this dish is so-so. Perhaps you should skip this and go for their waffles instead!

This is my first time at Group Therapy! It is a small cafe located at 49 Duxton Road, along the stretch of many shophouses.

For the opening hours:
Mondays: Closed
Tuesday - Thursday: 11am to 6pm
Fridays - Saturdays: 11am to 11pm
Sundays & PH: 10am to 6pm

*Taken from the website

The place has a really great ambeience, comfy and great for small group gatherings (2-4pax). However it is quite crowded as i went there during dinner time.

Service wise, once you entered the cafe, you will be ushered by the waiter to the seats and you will be given the menu. it is a self service cafe whereby you have to place the orders at the cashier and once your food is ready, it will be served to you.

Looking at the menu, it serves a wide variety of food such as all day breakfast, waffles, sandwiches, mains (Pasta) and drinks too.

Ice cream waffle with chocolate sauce.
It is a belgium waffle served with vanilla ice cream, fresh fruits (bananas. strawberries) and chocolate sauce. The waffle is made to order hence it was served warm to us

The waffle is crispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. It is a bit sweet due to batter. When eaten with the ice cream, it is indeed a great combination of cold and warm feel.

Overall, this is a great cafe for catch up session and desserts!

Affogato $7

It was my first time trying Affogato. Basically, Affogato is a beverage that contains a shot of espresso with a scoop of vanilla icecream or gelato. Some people consume it as a dessert while others consume it as a beverage. It has a very fresh taste and I actually like it but I still prefer my usual flavoured latte.

I love this! Cream cheese, smoked salmon and avocado are a winning combination. The bf said this reminded him of sushi lol. They were generous with the portion of the smoked salmon and the multigrain toast added a healthy touch to the dish. The salad was also well dressed.

Beef Cheese Burger with Sunnyside-up $19

beef patty, cheddar, lettuce, salsa, mustard & a fried egg, served with side salad & potato crisps

The bf could not stop having praises for their sauce which he said went really well with the burger. I, on the other hand, found it to be average tasting as mustard sauce was not my thing. The yolk of the egg flowed smoothly and the beef patty was rather thick. It was good but it did not make me want to have more. Omakase burger anytime!

It was quarter to three and there is no better time than this for coffee and waffle over a catch up session.

From the picture, it seems like it is not really a salad because the portion of meat to greens is almost like 3:1. I requested for my honey mustard dressing to be on the side so that I can easily control the amount of dressing over my salad. The chicken salad is made using chicken thigh – as such, the chicken meat is very tender. The seasoning used to marinate the chicken is slightly on the heavy side as I felt that the chicken is quite salty. Hence, it is fortunate that I had separated the dressing from the salad as I could control the amount. The salad also comes with cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and assorted greens. Overall, I think the dish would be better if they cut back on the seasoning used for the chicken.

Belgian-styled Waffle ($12+)
served with Vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, almonds & fruits
Since I am not very hungry (hi its my third within a short time), I decide on a which turns out to be a bad choice. Firstly the waffle is soft but not fluffy. Secondly it is not crispy on the outside too. Feel more like a stale wafffle, not a freshly made one. Maybe mass production on a busy day. Also topped up another $3+ to upgrade the ice cream to avocado gula melaka ice cream. It turns out to be a waste of money as there is barely any avocado or gula melaka taste in the ice cream. It just tastes creamy that all.

Ambience aside, the menu offers quite a wide variety ranging from all-day-breakfast items to mains like pasta and panini. Had Poached eggs ($15) served on thick toast with Smoked Salmon and Hollandaise sauce. The portion of Salmon was pleasantly generous. The eggs were done nicely. As to the bread, would have preferred to have sourdough rather than just plain white thick toast. While the amount of Hollandaise was kinda of an 'overkill' as it got fairly gelat after a while. Hmm overall it is still commendable since the highlight, the poached eggs were nicely done

My friend had the Croissants with scrambled eggs. The croissants was flaky and shatter-crisp with the lovely buttery taste, except that the dough wasn't tender enough and the portion could barely fill one's stomach. The scrambled eggs was alright. Hmm nothin fantastic

Tried the Roasted Almond Latte and it was quite a disappointment. Coffee was not strong and there wasn't any discernible roasted Almond taste at all.

In general, the place has good ambience and accessible via public transport. Some hits and misses with food but pricing is reasonable for its worth

It's located on the second floor, not too hard to find if you kept a lookout (see first picture and note that angle of Duxton Hill Apartments). Greeted with the neon "Fresh, Hot Coffee" - so enticing, hmm.

Obligatory menu shots to help you decide if this cafe fit your budget.

Belgian-Styled Waffle with Ice-Cream ($12+)
Switched my mind for the order from the one with maple-syrup and butter from the All-Day Breakfast menu when the boss alerted me to the sinful alternative - with ice-cream and fruits instead. The waffle is drizzled with chocolate sauce, sprinkled with almond flakes and topped with strawberry slices and blueberry! And of course, a generous heap of creamy vanilla ice-cream. The waffle is not as buttery as the kind in neighbourhood confectioneries. The baked fragrance is light, and generally moist than crisp. Overall it's pretty good though it would be better if there are more almond flakes and perhaps banana slices will be the perfect finishing touch to it. The portion is lovely for one pax.

Matcha Latte ($6.50+)
A cuppa that I fell in love with on first sight and pronounced as my new favourite coffee upon the first sip. Maybe even mocha has to take second place now. They do take their latte art very seriously - and partially the reason why I ordered this - just a superficial disposition when it comes to more-than-budget dining. The matcha taste is tenacious but not overwhelming; the caffeine undertones are subtle and consistent. Correct me if I'm wrong but the caffeine content in this cup is quite low.

Although Group Therapy Cafe is one of the more popular cafes around, I was surprised to see that it wasn't teeming with people or long queues - instead there was a comfortable seat turnover rate on a weekday afternoon (I'm sure it's much busier on weekends though).

There is also a electric point at my seat to revive my ever-dying phone. The service is attentive and non-intrusive, approaching only when needed. A beautiful cafe that is definitely listed as one of my favourites. Be, right back. ;)

My friend's Iced Mocha was surprisingly good! It didn't had the diluted iced coffee taste like most other places. The mocha and coffee taste was strong even with the ice cubes in it. I also like that they garnish it with premium ground dark chocolate!

We both love the Key Lime Crumb Cake! It consist of a layer of key lime curd on the lemon cake topped with lemon shortbread crumb, so yummy! This cafe is a must-go and I would definitely come back here again!

Another place which I’ve been wanting to try out for the longest time! tucked away on the second floor along the ubiquitous row of shophouses at duxton hill, this place is easy to miss with its small signboard! but it’s really a little haven that’s nice to chill Their menu isn't extensive, but there’s a decent all-day breakfast for those who want their brekkie at any time of the day, and also sandwiches and pies that are enough to fill you for a meal! I had the baked chili crab pie ($16) which was chunks of crab claw meat cooked in chili crab sauce and baked in a shortcrust butter pastry. i loved the pastry!! couldnt get enough of it ;) the interior was pretty tasty, but i would say, if you like chili crab, the real deal is still wayyyy better. i really liked the salad and crisps that came with it though!
the salad was topped with quinoa which provided a different texture and crunch, and the sauce that came with it was delicious.

The rest of my friends got the smoked salmon avocado sandwich ($18) which was mega huge! it honestly justifies the $18 price tag haha. and it was delicious! the way the flavours of the smoked salmon, avocado, cream cheese and rocket leaves complemented each other was just amazing. For a little hide-out time with your friends, this is definitely a good place to go!
