Being a lover of blackforest cakes, it is not easy to find the "authentically-flavored", childhood type blackforest cake in local context - fluffy and full of whipped cream, with dark cherries within the cake layers. If there is one thing Hanis / Hans is consistent about, it is the Blackforest Cake (SGD$4.20), something I would always order when I am at Hans.

Yeah, eat your heart out, but I have always enjoyed their blackforest cake - very affordable and retaining the originality of my childhood memories. You know, those blackforest cakes sold at your estate bakeries, the kind your parents would order and collect three days later or buy over the counter?
The blackforest cake here tastes like that exactly - spongy and fluffy in its thick chocolatey layers, loaded sinfully with loads of cream on top and in between layers, filled with juicy tarty black cherries, topped with chocolate shavings and bright red maraschino cherries. I could probably eat the entire cake (the small one) but I know I won't.

there are lots of cakes at this place. very well presented. all very pretty to look at and very attractive. the place is always full. there is also an ala carte menu with sandwiches and burgers and pastas and drinks. this strawberry cheesecake is a bit dry but the bright red strawberries are what attracted us. it is quite sweet and very creamy. the biscuit base is not thick enough. costs about $5

My aunt bought a chocolate cake from Hanis. The cake the flavor, the taste was there. but if it's only a little more moist. the cake was a little bit dry. what i really like because it is a chocolate cake. Anything to do to with chocolate i like. If you were to eat with an ice-cream i would say it would taste wow! do try out the cake.. i believe it's wouldn't taste the same in different outlet..

Went to Hanis at NLB for dinner last night. Ordered dory fish set meal that comes with a soup of the day and tea/coffee. The portion is well managed and with a generous amount of salad. Soup is tomato soup and taste qute all right. All for $9.80 for the set meal available through the day. Very valuable for the amount.Just to take note : they serve only western meals, sandwiches and others but no chinese meal at the outlet.

We arrived at around 6.10pm at the national library building and it was drizzling so we decided to have our dinner at Hanis, many will know them by Han's. The local delights are not available at this outlet so we settled for the set meal that comes with coffee or tea or soft drink, the main course, soup and dessert. I had chicken chop with mushroom sauce. The texture of the chicken chop was tender but the sauce was a bit salty. Overall the portion was good as there was alot of small carrots and fries.

The soup was salty too but it was creamy. What about dessert...it was watermelon.

The price was very reasonable. Can give it a try.
