The BBQ meats were of good quality and I especially enjoyed the jjajangmyeon. We also ordered the Kimchi Jjigae is great for sharing. It is a tad pricey but the food is well worth. You should Book in advance or you’ll find yourself waiting in a long line!Read More

Visited the korean restaurant at Heartlands Mall in Kovan. Have always walked past it during weekends lunch and dinner time and always saw long queues outside the restaurant. Decided to try it for myself today. The restaurant itself is quite small with what seened like less than 20 tables. Ordered Spicy Grilled Mackerel, Korean Ginseng Soup and Korean pancake. The mackerel turned out to be spicier than i thought! The fish meat itself was not too dry and has a nice flavour to it. The korean ginseng soup was delicious. It was thick and felt as though it has been boiled together with many ingredients. The pancakes were the best! Mildy spicy, it jas kimchi flavour in it and the texture is perfect, not too hard to bite or soggy. Addictive! They serve complimentary rice barley water too. Overall, not too bad but a tad pricey!Read More

Met up with sista at Kovan Heartland mall who is passing her homemade CNY goodies to me. She suggested dinner at this tiny Korean restaurant located at level 2.Space between tables are pretty tight, I would not recommend this place for large scale gatherings. This place is more suitable for intimate groups of 2-6pax max. Some of the waiting staffs are Koreans, they speak good english. They have chinese speaking staffs as well. This place provides complimentary Korean barley tea..We ordered a Korean Army Stew and 3 smaller dishes to share among 3 persons. First up, the usual serving of assorted homemade appetizers. They were a refreshing start to the meal. I love to eat the Korean bean sprouts, mashed potato and spicy kimchi.BBQ spicy pork belly $20++, marinated pork belly were prepared by staff and freshly grilled before serving to our table. Probably cos of the space constrain, customers are not required to cook the meats themselves. The freshly grilled pork slices were cut on the spot upon serving. I kinda like this arrangement. The pork belly weren't exactly very spicy but certainly well marinated and full flavored. They were cooked just right with fragrantly charred exterior and tender juicy center...I enjoyed munching this delicious meat with and without the provided lettuce.Seafood pancake $12++, pan fried to perfection with crisp edges and soft center, enveloping generous serving of fresh prawn, squid and veggies...wonderful dish!Kimchi kimbap $7++, this was delish too. The rice was firm and had a nice chew to it, and the spicy kimchi has got the right amount of flavor to spice up the rice rolls...yums.The main dish, Korean Army Stew Budae Jjigae hotpot $36++. This was cooked on the spot by skillful staff and left to stew for a couple of mins before serving. When the wait was finally over, we dig in and discovered the myriad of ingredients inside this hotpot dish. There were pieces of pork, hotdog, luncheon meat, nian gao, noodles, baked beans, tofu, kimchi and other veggies...so much goodness in a single pot! All the ingredients were fresh and well flavored by the thick and spicy broth. An extremely satisfying dish.We love dining at Hansik, this tiny eatery has quite a bit to offer for the discerning diners. No wonder meal times are always crowded, they have snaky queue even on weekday evenings. Staffs are all well trained and prompt with attending to diners need. Food is of good quality and reasonably priced. I would recommend this place for all Korean food lovers. For detailed review - http://midas400.blogspot.sg/2014/02/dinner-at-hansik-korean-restaurant.htmlRead More

Mum stumbled upon this restaurant one day and it has been one of our favourite korean restaurants every since. I love the kimchi seafood pancake most! The bbq chicken states for 2 people to share but is actually more than adequate for 3 people. Love how the BBQ chicken comes with a lot of golden mushrooms that I super love! The place is rather small though and the queue gets rather long after 7pm on Friday nights and weekends. Read More

Hansik Korean Restaurant is located at Heartland Mall Level 2.. nearest mrt is Kovan MRT Station. Most of the staffs working here are Koreans and they have good working attitude. A nice place for Korean food in the heartland..they also offer a range of appetisers for us, I like their kimchi, the braised potato, the chili pickles and the pickled shredded radishseafood pancake, not oily and it taste nice with the special soya sauce they provide uswe ordered a Korean hotpot to share, nice kimchi soup base with huge range of ingredients in it.. cabbage, golden mushroom, luncheon meat, chicken meat, green vegetable, topoki, maggi mee...bbq pork belly, its already cooked when they serve and we do not have to bbq it ourselves.. the pork belly is well marinated, just a bit overcooked and so abit tough..P/S: Great place for Korean food, but waiting time can be a little long at times, during peak hours as the restaurant do not lots of seating..Read More

My aunty bought me for dinner in this neighbourhood Korean restaurant in this shopping mall. The restaurant may not be big and spacious, but is still quite comfortable and cooling. Several side dishes are served to us, which are all equally fresh and yummy. The hot pot was quite big and the soup base was thick and spicy. Especially the fresh vegetables in it are really crunchy and good! I was really surpise that even though I have soaked the instant noodles inside for more than half an hour, it is still not soggy and still chewy. As for the different types of side dishes served to us, I especially enjoy the cold spinach and preserved cabbage. The spinach is crunchy and really fresh and sweet, which I suppose the chef may have marinate it with some sweet light sauce. Preserved cabbage was also very crunchy and spicy, which is very appetitizing and great to go along with their fragrant plain rice. The restaurant supervisor was friendly and helpful too. Read More

If you are craving for korean food in the Hougang area, you can check this restaurant located in Heartland Mall. This is the Korean cold tea being served to each table, it tastes pretty plain like the rest of the teas of other cuisines. This can of white grape juice is really nice. This is my first time trying out this drink, and I love it. When being poured out from the can, there are really bits of real white grapes fruit in the drink. It just makes the whole drink much tastier, wish it comes in a bigger can though. As usual, the Korean side dishes are served before the main dishes arrived. I find the side dishes are pretty not bad for a restaurant located in the neighbourhood area. The Korean Seafood pancake is just alright, the pancake was not as chewy though there is a generous serving of seafood bits such as squid as well as prawns. This beef bimbimbap is a slight disappoint, this dish was not served very hot that night. It might be a better choice to choose the stone bowl one instead. However, the beef slices are rather tender with the eggs and crunchy sliced carrots. This Korean restaurant may not be the best choice, but I guess the food served there is slightly above average. It is still worth a try for diners around the area! Read More
