We are back again at Punggol plaza for late dinner. Hubby wanna eat Curry fish head, so we ordered a Claypot curry fish head and two dishes to share.Claypot curry fish head $20Today's fish head is quite thick and meaty. The curry gravy was good, spicy and creamy. Veggies were fresh and I love the generous serving of taupok!Prawn paste mid wings $9This is a safe dish, it is always served piping hot and crispy and has a nice prawn paste aroma.Fried HK Kailan w/ oyster sauce $9 Ordinary dish, fresh and crunchy though. continue reading

it was 10pm and was searching for a dinner place so decided to eat near home instead. Most of the koufu stalls were already closed by now so i'm left with ci char. Ordered the fu jian mian (black hokkien mee) at the counter outside and went back in to wait to be served. waiting time was around 5min, it cost $3.80 actually, quite a funny price. Pretty standard fare with fish cake, lean meat and chye sim, they do used quite a fair bit of small fried pork lard bits though. I was thinking it could have added some sliced fish to enhance this dish. Anyway at 10+, several tables were filled with senior folks drinking beer. continue reading

FoodPorks ribs, S$15.00, was marinated, fried and coated with sweet sauce accompanied by Coriander.Every piece was served boneless with a standard taste like a lot of "C'zzar" stall.Redsnapper fish was sliced and placed neatly on a place for our hot pot session. It costs S$44.00 and was the main dish for the night. The soup comes with lots of vegetables and yam. Fried oyster egg was rather oily, S$13.00 to share among the 8 of us.We were asked if we wanted the cereal prawns without shells and decided to other them. Cereal prawns S$24.00. The lackluster portion of the dish is its fragrance. The traditional type of hand written receipt by the "Czzar" stall.ServiceThe waiting time for food is very long, we waited more than 30 minutes for the food to be placed in front of the table.AmbienceLocated outside Koufu's foodcourt, we are luckily to get a table of 8 as many of the seats are already reserved. Place is quite airy and cooling especially after the rain. However there are houseflies flying around and we have to shoo them away.PriceS$100.80 to share among 8 pax comes up to about S$12.60 per person is rather standard pricing for Czzar food. continue reading

Merlion Wayfarer settled for a zichar dinner recently. She was at Punggol Plaza's Hao Xiang. Choosing simple fare, she ordered a hor fun. Now, hor fun is a basic dish that is very hard to go wrong. And she was glad that Hao Xiang's version tasted just right. In the mood for soup in this cold weather, she also ordered a Fish Maw Soup. For those who are not used to this delicacy, fish maw or the swim/gas/air bladder is an internal gas-filled organ that contributes to the ability of a fish to control its buoyancy, and thus to stay at the current water depth without having to waste energy in swimming.Sounds kinda gross, but the soup served on her table was surprisingly sweet and surprisingly delicious. There were huge chunks of fish slices and a few token slices of fish maw. It was only after a few unbelievably tasty spoonfuls that it dawned on Merlion Wayfarer that the sweetness could have come from MSG lacing. And yeah, she was right. Soon after her meal, she was gulping down mouthfuls of water to quench her thirst. Sigh, no more soups from zichar stalls... continue reading

I ordered a mee goreng for dinner, as i have not had meegoreng for the longest of time. The standard of the food was inconsistent.I was disappointed as the meegoreng was overspicy and the taste was a tad too bland, they could have added more seasonings. The portion was big though, they had prawns, sotong and eggs in it. continue reading
