It is a way too salty dish, especially for the smoked salmon.

Beef Pot Pie ($18++)
Indulge in a tantalizing beef stew ladled into a bread pot, topped with scrambled eggs.
The dish is served with a bit of greens by the side. The scrambled egg is not creamy and I feel it is a bit overcooked. It is not the usual braised until tender beef stew. Instead it is beef steak strips in brown sauce. The meat is a bit tough. The worst is the oversalty sauce which I have to drink lots of water in order to make myself finish the meal.

Cheese Fries ($12++)
Chunky steak fries smothered with cheese sauce, sour cream, jalapenos and bacon bits. Good for sharing.
The fries is not crispy and tastes a bit hard. It looks drown in oil with its dull colour.

Overall it quite a cozy place to be in and we stay quite awhile in there. Iced water is served free and the staff refilled them regularly. Plates are cleared quite swiftly. The place is quite quiet at night. Through out the whole meal, there is only 4 tables filled with about 11 customers around. Hi guys, if you have dogs, you will be able to dine in here. There is a customer who dines in the outdoor with his big sized dog by him.

The café is conveniently accessible via walking distance from Holland Village MRT station. Hatched is an egg-inspired, all day breakfast place to chill out. The eggs here are served in many different forms such as boiled, poached, baked, scrambled and more.
My sisters and I decided to have our brunch here on of the weekend. The exterior of the restaurant with its floor to the ceiling length glass window and yellow criss-cross bars snaking across the surface gives a creative feeling of the place set up. It has different exterior and interior designs from the one at Evans Lodge.
Sir Benedict S$13.00 (1 egg) or S$19.00 (2eggs) served classic with ham, poached egg and the hollandaise sauce on top of a breakfast muffin. Poached egg was well done as the yolk was done just right as it just flow out smoothly right upon cutting it.The combination of sour and slightly creamy sauce was perfect to enhance the taste of the egg and ham. It comes with 1 or 2 option so sister ordered 1 only and it is quite filling.
Salted Egg Ranch on Potato Spuds S$12.00 beautifully served in a plate.Potato spuds dressed with an Asian twist of salted egg dressing..
Croque Madame S$16.00 served in grilled ham and cheese sandwich with a fried egg on top served with steak fries. Fried egg was nicely done with the yellowish yolk lying on top the sandwich makes the whole dish looks appetizing. Not to mentioned that the steak fries was thick and filling too.
Serving time was within 20 minutes and service staffs are quite attentive to customers. We do get their attention when we need to place order and also refill water. Overall dinning experience is pleasant with the food quality, service and of course companion.
Total Bill was S$63.60 which inclusive of 10% service charge and 7% GST. We didn’t order any drinks as it comes with free flow of plain water. If you are craving for breakfast dinner, you might want to drop by for a filling craving.

This share is quite large, I took it from one side thus it looks very little.
I love the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs! The eggs were so fluffy and buttery! And I polished off the whole pesto sauce.
But the sauteed potatoes were such a disappointment. Really hard and tasted burnt.
We didn't finish it at all.

Maybe I had too much expectations of Hatched, I don't think it's really worth the price at all and the food's standard was rather disappointing.

My sunny side up were done just right with runny yolk. The sausages, baked beans and sauteed potatoes were quite tasty, toast was crispy...overall, a satisfying 'Big' breakfast.

The hot chocolate drink on the other hand just tasted ordinary.

The service here was decent, no complains. However, I find the menu items here pretty limited and prices were a tad high for just breakfast. I will only recommend this place for fans of ang moh breakfast..

The menu starts off with different categories of the cooking style of eggs. There are a couple of options each under ‘Boiled Eggs’, ‘Poached Eggs’, ‘Scrambled Eggs’, ‘Baked Eggs’ and ‘Omelettes’. Then comes the starters, some desserts and beverages. Whilst there, we were also presented with some ala-carte items that are well, not so hatch-y and egg-y.

Burly Benedict ($19++): Whether you are opting for Poached Eggs with Smoked Salmon, Streaky Bacon and Smoked Ham, or in this case, Corned Beef, it costs the same. The same steep price, which I thought to be really ridiculous, when the Poached Eggs we were served with were not even slightly runny. I wasn’t the most pleased, because just like fries is the staple of Everything with Fries, eggs should be the forte of Hatched.

Rosti Delight ($16++): The Rosti was slightly more comforting. The slightly peppered rosti went well with the Smoked Salmon; the right intensity of saltiness. The Poached Egg had the same problem I had given up hope on. The same question goes on the worthiness of the course.

Turf N Cluck ($22++): In simple terms, this Steak and Eggs was more like it. Though served in a not-my-favorite style of Eggs, I was more relieved, as how wrong can a Fried Egg be right. The Steak was done to my liking – slightly on the chewy side. However, for the minority gamey meat lovers like myself, you would be disappointed. If you do dine here (for whatever reasons best known to yourself), place your bet on this. Or you can throw a dice and shift your cash to their Scrambled Eggs. I’m only hoping it’s done better than their Poached Eggs.

I strongly do not believe that getting the Poached Eggs right is a trial-and-error affair for a functioning restaurant like Hatched, not mentioning a few years old one. Hatched should get their act together, and before that happens, I’ll not be returning for sure.

Baked firm potato topped with pureed spinach look weird but tasted really good; homemade smooth and buttery mash potato with lightly seasoned meat sauce was delightful.

The decor of the store was really cozy and channelled a really adorable vibe. Pictures of eggs were scrawled onto the blackboard where diners could check out what's on the menu quickly and decide on the specials of the day. The menu that was given was also really cute, i felt like i was reading a children's story book as it was smaller in size than other places and has a lot of cute egg pictures around!

I finally settled on the Shrooms Overload ($18.00)

I changed the bacon to zucchini instead as I wasn't a fan of bacon. I loved the egg as the egg yolk oozes out as you cut into it! Perfection!

There were also pickles inside which i HATED which made the bread a little sour and I didn't like it. But the huge portobella mushroom which sat right at the bottom of the burger was a delight! It complemented very really well. The zucchini was fantastic, (I might be bias due to my addiction to zucchini) it was soft and was really unique as I've never eaten it with in a burger. I also love their big thick cut of fries and the light olive oil that was sprinkled onto the salad at the side was a nice addition to the burger.

I love the whole concept of this cute little cafe but as most would know, the prices at cafes are usually a little pricey and one would usually grumble at the price for simple and cheap things mashed up together. I would hope that in due time, albeit wishful thinking, the prices will start to decrease so as to cater to a wider audience who would appreciate their egg-tastic food!

Oh! And we can actually choose either 1 or 2 poached eggs for our dishes and all the 3 of us opted for 2 poached eggs (hehe typical greedy us). I had the Sir Benedict where my muffins were topped up with smoked ham, bacon streaks and of course poached egg. Frankly speaking, i find that their poached eggs tasted normal. Not super nice but not too bad either. haha so my stand for their poached eggs would have to be on the fence. However, i like the muffins, smoked ham and mashed potato
They were all very tasty! haha. I also tried the sauteed potatos from my friend's Burly Benedict and it is very nice!!

And for our dessert, we ordered french toast fingers to share! hahaha and it tasted average to me. Overall, I enjoyed dining here even though poached eggs aren't my type of food but i guess it's okay to try out new food once in awhile. In addition, I really like the ambience here
Will definitely come here again to try out their other courses which looked good on the menu. Price wise, their prices aren't on the cheap side (Eggs Benedict served with 2 poached eggs cost $19!!) But i guess it's okay to indulge once in awhile

There's indoor and outdoor seating, during lunchtime the inside can be quite packed but we didn't really mind sitting outside because the ceiling fan was adequately breezy and it was rather pleasant to sit outside and people watch too.

Utterly spoilt for choice but forced to come to a decision (:/), we ordered the Popeye's Salute -Double ($19), Sir Benedict -Single ($13) and the Croque Madame ($16).

The Croque Madame is essentially a fried ham and cheese sandwich topped with a fried egg, thick-cut fries and a side salad. Even though Hatched's rendition of Croque Madame is less cheesy than what I would have liked, the bread had a deliciously sweet flavour (it was possibly brioche!) akin to french toast. The sandwich wasn't too oily and the portion was just right. The fries weren't overly oily and the thick cut ensures you really taste the potato. You would want to try this if you aren't a huge fan of eggs!

The salad is uniform throughout and it's a mixture of greens and rocket with aoli. I liked the flavour of balsamic vinegar, lemon juice and olive oil but some may not be used to such flavours. In my opinion, the flavours were well-balanced, not too oily/sour.

The Popeye's Salute is perhaps my new favourite egg dish with a spinach, poached egg and hollandaise (not too sure about this but we're pretty certain hollandase sauce is used) sauce on top of an English muffin. The spinach has a tinge of cheese mixed into it which is lovely! The sauce isn't overly sour too, and the poached egg is beautifully done -the yolk isn't completely runny and the whites aren't dry. -In comparison to the eggs ben, the yolk is less runny here (the way I like it!) I believe that this is a matter of perception though, how you'd like your eggs. I like my poached eggs with a half cooked yolk, and the other half runny. People who enjoy the entire yolk to be liquid would very much prefer the eggs ben.

The mash is slightly dry for my liking, I would have liked it creamier, but the sauce with it was fantastic! A mix of chicken and mushroom, the flavours were drawn out subtly. The mushroom taste is strong in this one, surprisingly.

The Eggs Ben (or rather, Sir Benedict!) is classic -with ham, the poached egg and the hollandaise sauce on top of a breakfast muffin. Delicious pairing of the ham and the sauce -I really liked how it wasn't too sour and the taste had a slightly creamy/cheesy aftertaste that wasn't at all cloying. I would have liked the yolk a bit less runny though

Side note: Certain dishes come with a 1 or 2 option, such as this one, and the spinach dish. One portion goes for $13 while 2 are at $19...We say go for 2 anyway. They're too good to stop at just one!!

Service here is fantastic, because we were seated outside, I feared that it would be difficult to catch their attention for ordering etc. The staff is attentive and even our water was filled
Pricewise, while I disagree with eating staple breakfast eggs items such as scrambled/fried eggs at such a steep price of $16 (if you go for the Usual Suspects, which includes two eggs done in your choice, with a range of other add ons such as sausage/bacon and carbs), the items such as poached egg and the croque madame are well worth your money!

If you are arriving by MRT, exit through exit B and turn right facing Wendy's, and walk all the way down (past Starbucks, OCBC) and its just before D'Good Cafe! Definitely recommending the Popeye's Salute, chockfull of spinach. They also have sweet dishes such as waffles with eggs. A great selection!

Instead of ordering Pancakes which we wanted to, we changed our mind & ordered The Sleepover since there's so many good reviews online. Honestly, the only thing I like about this is the crispy bacon! I don't eat banana cos it makes me constipate. Evelyn says it's not caramelized properly. As for the french toast, I think my helper at home can do it better!

El Chorizo ($16)

The dish is actually scrambled eggs cooked with Chorizo sausage, served with toast and homemade mash. The scrambled is really nice. It has beef sausage in it, and the scrambled eggs is a little watery, not dry and hard at all. The toast is quite crispy, and the homemade mash consists of potato mash topped off with salty minced meat, but it tastes rather salty.

Sir Benedict ($13)

The classic breakfast of all time - eggs benedict. It comes with a half-english muffin, topped with smoked ham, bacon, poached egg and Hollandaise sauce, and also served with homemade mash. The egg is just right, Not too cooked nor undercooked.

AMBIENCE

It can be quite noisy where it's crowded, like a high class coffeeshop. But I like the decor of the shop. One side of their wall has a blackboard, and the highlights of the menu are written on the blackboard, which brings back many memories of our old school days!

SERVICE

They are abit slow, and take quite long to refill our glass of water, even after we have requested to refill our glass of water.

More established in their first branch at Evans Lodge, they've recently opened one at Holland Village, conveniently located near the exit of the MRT station, right beside Swensen's.

It was my first time at Hatched, bearing high expectations since they were rather established and there has been many good reviews going around. Stepping into the place, it gave a cosy and relaxed feeling, adding on to our lazy Saturday afternoon, perfected with the background music playing Bruno Mars' The Lazy Song. It was still rather packed, considering that we were there at about 2pm and 90% of the seats were taken up.

I personally like the use of chalkboards as it gives a very old-school touch to the cosy cafe. The colours also made it cheery and somehow added on to the fun image that Hatched portrays.

Cute salt and pepper shakers shaped like eggs. Different tables have got different designs, and thankfully, we've got the cutest one of all!

Their classic of eggs benedict. Poached eggs with half a muffin, black forest ham, topped with Hollandaise sauce and with homemade mash. According to my friend who's rather expert in poached eggs, Sir Benedict has managed to withstand the test of poached eggs and has been certified well done. The yolk was done just right that it oozed out right upon cutting it, having cooked just nice. It was a slight pity that the egg wasn't exactly warm enough and tasted like it had been left out in the open for a while before serving it. The homemade mash was quite good too, with me being a fan of potato. I like how you could really taste the potato bits used, giving a mixture of texture instead of the ultra smooth kind like KFC's mashed potato.

A choice of two eggs of any style, choice of two meats (bacon, ham or sausage), waffles and toast. We chose omelette and scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage for our meal. It was quite a disappointment as the eggs weren't done very well and the other sides were just as bad. Just like the poached egg, both the omelette and scrambled eggs tasted rather cold. Only thing that wasn't too bad was the bacon and the potatoes. The sausage came cold, was a tad too skinny (it seemed more like a hotdog sold in supermarkets) and overly salty, overpowering the taste of the entire dish.

The waffles, though it looks enticing, was pure disappointment as it tasted more like bread than lightly whisked waffles. It was abit too heavy for the meal and the only redeeming factor was perhaps the bottle of maple syrup that came along with it, allowing free flow of maple syrup to mask the taste of it. But oh well, being a die-hard fan of maple syrup, it was slightly more acceptable and made me a happier customer.

Overall, I felt that it wasn't a very good experience, especially when they pride themselves upon an all-eggs specialist. I felt that it was slightly overrated as there are definitely better breakfast places that can do eggs better, especially when there are more brunch places sprouting up. However, I do give them credit for its slightly more affordable price range and convenient location, plus the really chillax ambience! That said, my review of Hatched is solely based on its HollandV outlet and not its flagship store at Evans Lodge, hence I'm not too sure about quality control standards across. I will definitely visit the one at Evans to try out in the future!

This small little cafe is located near Holland Village MRT Station is rather cozy. The cafe is within walking distance from the MRT station. I went with the convention since it was my first time there, I tried their Sir's Benedict and I found it rather pricey. 2 eggs for $19, only 1 egg would be $13. It was served with veggies and mashed potato. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs matched suitably with the entire dish.
