Was at a Marina Square and right end of one flooring towards city mall saw this Japanese restaurant. The was crowds inside so early 1145hrs. Ordered their signature Ishikari hotpot and Salmon Teriyaki. The hotpot like cold from refrigerator but lucky with a warmer. Possibly to let is boil will be another 10mins. My friend and I needed a place to chat for awhile, so we saw signs of free flow appetizers at this quiet japanese restaurant at Marina square. I missed the egg fuyong from NYP canteen so I ordered this, hoping it to be the same, but the egg wasn't as flavourful, probably because it didn't have the sweet sauce like the NYP one has.The rice was quite tasty, but it left me a bit thirsty. Went to the restaurant at about 12pm on saturday, we didnt have to wait to get a table for 2. Every main dish comes with the appetiser buffet which we found yummy and interesting. But last night for a friend's birthday, they suggested this place so i finally get to try it after all. Once I have reached the restaurant outside, I was immediate serve by the friendly and cheerful service staff and brought into the restaurant.  Is quite spacious and cooling here.  Furnishings were simple and comfortable.  Bought the Sanma Shioyaki, which is also known as the salt-grilled sanma fish set at merely $13.99, which comes with free flow salad bar.  Fish was fresh and soft in texture, with no stingy smell.  Onion soup, from the buffet bar, was thick and creamy, wasn't too bad. 

This restaurant sells Japanese cuisine. It is semi buffet style. You can order a main course and there is a buffet with various side dishes, appetizers, desserts you can eat all you can. We are given a plate with 6 small square to fill with items from the buffet table. I have not seen a lot of Japanese restaurants offering all-you-can-eat appetiser bar, so this was a pretty new concept to me. Most appetisers were Japanese-style. There are quite a handful of appetisers to choose from, but taste wise it's just average. For my main, I thought it could use a little more ingredients in the dish. The matcha dessert is to die for, though! Love the matcha soup and rice dumplings. A great way to end off the meal.

Hifumi was one of my favorite restaurant as it offer semi buffet style which you order one main course set and compliments with free flow appetizer on the bar, you may add on SGD1.99 for free-flow drink also. We were attracted by their semi buffet concept,where if you order a main course,side dishes would be free flow. There was a station for the side dishes where you can help yourself to any serving you like.I ordered a pork katsu rice set and was quite disappointed as the pork katsu was very hard and it was almost tasteless.The only plus point was the free flow side dishes which tasted better.I like the brocolli salad which was refreshing.
