Wanted to eat Char Kway Teow but I once came across this article saying fried prawn mee have lesser calories, so I went for it. Ordered a $3 Sotong Prawn Mee, can smell the noodles cooking while queuing for it. Strong nice aromatic fried noodles is moist and velvety; fresh squid was chewy and not overcooked; miserable 2 piece of crunchy sweet prawn but can’t be unreasonable as I ordered the cheapest. I didn't mix in the chili as it was too spicy for me.

The hokkien mee is not spectacular, but it is good enough to satisfy your craving and fill you up. The $3 portion I had was a good size, and plentiful in terms of noodles. The flavour was good with a nice prawn stock flavour and enough moistness such that it is not too dry. Fresh prawns have bite and remain succulent. Overall a good dish for a quick meal any day!

The hokkian mee here lived up to my standards. The noodles are pretty wet and are doused in a tasty gravy. generous use of fresh prawns and sotong pieces add tons of flavour to the plain noodles. The noodles are soft but not too mushy with still some bite to them for texture. Not expensive too with a large portion given for the three dollars paid. Waiting time was awhile though of about 15 minutes

Hong Heng Fried Sotong Prawn Mee is strategically located right next to the one and only escalator which lead up from the wet market below to the hawkers up on the second floor. Since I got a craving for fried sotong mee, I decided to order one plate to see how good it is (since there's a small queue of people) The sotong mee is fried in a "wet" style rather than those dried version which I quite like it. After trying food from other stalls in Tiong Bahru market, I went back to my favourite stall, which is this stall. I simply love their hokkien mee. The hokkien mee has just the right amount of moisture in them and the broth used is very good because it shows in the flavour of the noodles. The noodles is really flavourful with a good mixture of yellow noodles and beehoon. The ingredients are also very fresh, I like the sotong a lot. I'm a fan of hokkien mee, so once I saw this stall at Tiong Bahrun market, I couldn't resist ordering it For a $3 plate, the serving given was quite generous - plenty of noodles with prawns and sotong. The hokkien mee offered here is the "wetter" version. The broth used to simmer the noodles is quite flavorful. Definitely an above-average plate of hokkien mee. Personally, I will prefer if they used less of the yellow noodles. But still, considering that it's hard to find a really good plate of

It has been almost 4 months since i last eaten my favourite hokkien prawn mee at this stall thus i am back once again for it. Although it is very oily so i try not to have it too often but sometimes i still crave for it a lot. The owner is very generous with the portion and with $3, you are able to fill your tummy with one packet of this. I always request not to include sotong in mine as i do not like to eat sotong. This stall sells really delicious fried hokkien mee and it is one of my favourite place to go to for fried hokkien mee. It is really fragrant and the gravy complements the noodles very well. The chili also adds in the punch together with the noodles. They are priced in $3, $4, $5. I usually order the $3 portion as i feel that it is already rather full for me. During lunch and dinner time, there is usually a short queue.

I think I have found my favourite hokkien mee. It has been some time since I ate such a good plate of hokkien mee. The ingredients are all very fresh and tasty. The noodles are cooked with the right amount of seasoning and the noodles are slightly wet which makes it good for slurping it down your throat. This is the $3 portion that I ordered and I finished every bit of it.

This hokkien mee is one of the more popular stalls when I visited last saturday. Its portions are priced at $3/$4/$5. As I had ordered other dishes, I decided to go for the smallest portion which is the $3 portion. The hokkien mee is very fragrant indeed. Although not very visually enticing (as all prawns and sotongs are hidden from view), but it scores very well for its fragrance. And as for the taste, it is certainly as good as what its fragrance suggests. The yellow noodles and white beehoon

The hokkien mee is very fragrant indeed. Although not very visually enticing (as all prawns and sotongs are hidden from view), but it scores very well for its fragrance. And as for the taste, it is certainly as good as what its fragrance suggests. The yellow noodles and white beehoon has soaked up and absorbed all the gravy, making it very flavourful on its own. The chili is very nicely done - spicy enough and it adds a kick to the hokkien mee.

Lastly, its sotong is fabulous. One of the best sotongs I have eaten from a plate of hokkien mee, and not surprising, given that its name is fried sotong prawn mee. Its sotong is chewy and very fresh. Highly recommended!

I have to say, this is the best eating experience. The noodle, which you can choose its portion size of $3/4/5, (mine was $3), has sotong, prawn, and bits of pork and fish in the mix. At first, when i started eating it, it tasted just like any other normal fried noodles. But the more you eat and chew, the taste just starts to get you and it's quite unexplainable, it's so flavorful but not as thick as curry, if you get what I mean. The process of where the flavor sticks to your tongue and builds from there on is an experience one must try it yourself. Let me know if the crescendo-ing taste doesn't work for ya.

SUPER RECOMMENDED. Couldve eaten more though, $5 for a ultra filling portion!

Cookeeatmonster, hunting for the worthy places of bringing your monstrous appetite.
