I've never like my noodles to be in soups, so i will always/ or rather go for the dry kind. And i particularly like the 'ganlaolamian' from hong hu express! I reckon it might be the china kind of bak chor mee!Simple as it can be, its a dish that you can have for lunch and or dinner! And it will keep you yearning for more( trust me) Brought my mum to try the noodles ( she dont normally eat food that she haven tried or eaten before, so i have to force her to eat this) we both had the same thing. And to my surprise, she actually like it. Filled with minced pork bits in the 'ganlao' sauce which is poured over the ramen noodles and finishing off is 2 deep fried wanton and Fuzhou fishballs! Thou i would rather they wrap the wanton with more filling inside but nevertheless i still enjoyed my noodles! Their Fuzhou fishball is delicious. Basically, Fuzhou fishballs are fishballs with meat inside. And i dont know is it the nature of fuzhou fishballs or its only this stall, i could actually still find soup inside.(somewhat like xiao long bao)To sum it all up, 干捞拉面 is a noodle that you can never wrong with! (just for me) continue reading

Having lunch with colleague at this place since my colleague have craving for dumpling. I order the Pork Rib noodle instead of dry, I ask for soup base. Noodle is soft and easy to chew on and soup base is tasty. They are generous in giving the pork rib as each of them are consider big size and juicy meat. They really did a good job in braising the meat.  Mushroom is soft too and vegetable is fresh that you can taste it. continue reading

Located at 5th Floor of Far East Plaza, Hong Hu Express serves your normal Ban mee and Chinese gyozas. This is also one of my usual place to go for cheap and quick lunch.Today I ordered Fried Chicken Noodles for $3.50. The chicken is well fried, very crispy on the outside while maintaining soft & juicy on the inside. The noodles is your normal chinese you mee, however without the usual mince pork and ikan bilis, the noodle tasted really bland. continue reading

Don't be fooled by the messy look of this dish! The mee sua at Hong Hu Express is really good! One of the main thing is that their broth is very good. Flavourful, not too salty or greasy and elevates the simple mee sua. There is a generous sprinkling of ikan bilis, vegetables, minced pork and egg in the bowl plus silky mee sua. If you prefer your mee sua a bit more "al dante", this is not for you. They are incredibly soft which is how I like them. Cheap and good! continue reading

Hong Hu Express is the stall i ever satisfied for lunch at far east plaza. Offers kinds of fish soup and ramen. My favorite at there is Tom Yam Seafood Soup. Costs $4.50 with added rice bowl, will add 20cents if take away. It's just original sour and spicy tom yam soup that came with sliced fish, prawn, and usual soup seafood. The staffs are friendly and serve quite fast. A bowl of tom yam soup can make you active on blue Monday or rainy day. continue reading
