If you grew up in Hongkong or Malaysia in the 90's, chances are that you would have enjoyed many after-school trips to Hong Kong Kim Gary with your friends. The food is unabashedly B-rate, a bastardised hodgepodge of the east and west flavours. Compound that with value-for-money sets that helped stretch a limited allowance, Kim Gary was a teenager's paradise. The Seven Treasure Cheese Baked Curry ($12.50) was laden with pork chop, squid rings, ham, chicken wing, sausage, egg, and potatoes; great for hungry hippos.

The Cheese Baked Rice with Pork Chop ($13.90) with red sauce was decent; moist and sumptuous.

The Cheese Baked Rice with Pork Chop ($13.90) with white sauce got a little cloying and heavy halfway through, although a girlfriend, who loves her cream, lapped this all up.

I much prefer the red sauce, an instant bottled spaghetti-like sauce, the Cheese Baked Rice with Chicken Chop ($13.90) and the chicken was better done than the pork. More juicy.

All the sets comprise a choice of Borsch or Sweet Corn Cream Soup. I say to get the minestrone-like borsch over the sweet corn cream, which was marginally better than a can of campbells.

From the list of drinks, I ordered the popular beverage of Mango Mosaic in exchanging the free coffee/tea with milk by topping up $3.00 due to the FLAMINGG MANGOS displayed in their menu.

Pretty generous portion of food for Asian culture in Singapore. The food quality is of good standard and also of an affordable price.

I also go for their Baked Cheese Rice with Pork Chop with their Borsch Soup. I dunno if their Borsch Soup is authentic but I really don't care, I LOVE it!!! I can drink bowls and bowls of it. It's tangy and full of vege, it's just really really nice! The baked rice itself is also quite good. The rice is essentially fried rice with egg and there is a nice taste on its own. This restaurant has sea view seats. It is very crowded during lunch and dinner time. They sell reasonable priced Hong Kong food. I ordered the curry spaghetti . The curry is baked with a layer of cheese and very spicy. It has eggs, chicken wings, sausages , pork chop or fish fillet or chicken chop depending on what you order. I had the pork chop. The pork chop is very juicy and tender. Pour the curry sauce over the spaghetti and the curry spaghetti becomes very yummy too. If you don't like pasta

My group of friends and I were searching for a place to rest after all the walking after dinner and now it's supper time for us! We settled down here and were lucky to get seats pretty fast as the restaurant was already packed with people! After us, a queue started to form. We ordered drinks and also one serving of mixed fries to share. There is not much of an ambience at this branch and the drinks and food arrive quickly. I ordered the Baked cheese chicken rice everytime I am here! It was with white sauce this time. The cheese really fills up the whole rice and the chicken was quite big in portion. It was baked well and the chicken was tender. Ordered their milk tea and the borsch soup too. The borsch soup tasted better than the cream soup.

The egg is nicely cooked, with a big piece of luncheon meat and mixed vegetables. The soup is quite tasty and it actually tasted not bad!

Filling up the Menu by ourselves, it was easy and straightforward. The Giant Toast was our order for tea-break. The desired colour and appearance was very appetizing. Milky, sweet and fulfilling, it was actually soft at the middle. I was able to cut it into nine pieces. The portion was huge, it can be dessert or a proper meal if you want. $4.50++ for this Toast, I felt the price was quite reasonable.

The fries at Kim Gary. I ordered curry and seaweed if i didnt remember wrongly. it tasted like mcdonald's shaker fries though, not veery special. But it was quite good for a person who like fries. hee(; And, my main course. It somehow look like maggi mee with lots of ingredients inside. but, i like how they present it, don;t it look just like a smiley face(: Well, maybe i chose my wrong choice of food... but i did see some other food seems quite promising^^

We came to Kim Gary HK Restaurant, known for the wide variety of food that was able to accomodate to the different variety of diets we had--weight watching for the girls, low carb-er and the guys who were just famished and adventurous to try anything.

I ordered the hot and Spicy noodles with pork chop-- quite good! Better than expected, spicy enough for me--which translates to too spicy for the common folk. Lol. The pork chop was a very satisfying addition to the noodles.

My famished bf had the cheese baked rice plus the chicken steak burger. I think the burger was larger than we had expected, which obviously was good. I tried abit of the baked rice and felt it was ordinary.

The other couple ordered a few things to share. Since Kim Gary was having a sort of 'cheese special menu', they ordered mixed veg with cheese, chicken wings with cheese, fries and then the other guy friend ordered this thing called french style fried rice. This was super funny for us because my bf is french and he didnt even hear of such a thing! So when the dish came, we were trying to find out what was so 'french' about it. So apparently mayb there was french beans? and a huge piece of ham. Other than that.. we werent too sure why it was french. =P

All in all was good value at $80 per person. The place is definitely good for gatherings as food is budget friendly and can cater to different appetite and taste/

While at the Kim Gary restaurant, I decided to order the spicy noodle that comes with dumplings and some vegetables. My first observation is that they put a lot of bean sprout into the noodle, which I simply do not like at all. The soup was also rather spicy and I doubt weak chilli eaters can withstand the spiciness of this dish. At first the noodle tasted nice but when you tasted it a few times, the spiciness nature of the dish simply make your tongue numbed. Would I recommend this dish to you?

Decided to head to Kim Gary to have my lunch and I ordered the pork chop baked rice, that comes with generous servings of broccoli and tomato, which I don't like to eat at all, and also a huge piece of pork chop that tasted great! Not to forget, it also comes with a topping of melted cheese that is placed on the rice. Overall I think the pork chop baked rice tasted delicious and it's worth giving it a try if you happen to be at Kim Gary Restaurant at Vivocity.

Fries was alright.

The rice was fragrant and well blended with the other ingredients. pork meat was quite tender as usually it's quite tough to bite.

Many of us love value for money food. Hong Kong Kim Gary Cafe is one place to visit for really budget and nice Hong Kong fast food. I have been visiting Kim Gary since its opened at VivoCity (1st branch in Singapore, recently expanded to accommodate more customers). Why do I love Kim Gary? Cheap. Generous Serving. Nice. Usual favorites - Cheese baked rice set meal from $12.90++ (regardless of toppings), borsch soup (comes with set meal), honey pork rib rice (which I ordered that day costs $8.90 for lunch set), spicy big bowl noodles (my mum ordered - cost $9.90 for lunch set), all day set meal (cost $11.90 ordered by my siblings).

Come before 6pm, you can get to order lunch set meals which come with a drink and soup of your choice. Serving is generous.

Service is prompt and staff are generally friendly. Environment is nice especially if you can get seats near to the window panels and you can see RWS and scenery.
