There have been quite a number of ShengKee outlets popping up across the island. I think one can easily spot one of its outlets in any of the major shopping malls. The food choices here are not plentiful but its price is considerably affordable.Out of most of their noodle or rice items which I had tried so far, my highly recommended one would be the Minced Pork Hor Fun. Simple yet flavorful with its minced pork gravy with mushroom, the chili condiments provided added additional twist to the noodles. The chilli was really good, fragrant and not too spicy. Now I don't bother trying other items at all haha The set meal comes with a dessert and side dish of either yam cake or carrot cake by just paying a minimal top up charges. Again I enjoyed eating the yam cake with the chilli together. On the other hand, the Mango Pomelo Sago desserts was just ordinary. Other desserts options include Sesame Paste, Red bean Soup or Almond Paste which I find them all too sweet. One of the signature items is the Mango Roll. It was nothing fantastic. The skin was slightly too thick while the mango chunk was a tad sourish Overall, I would consider this as a simple yet satisfying meal. I love their chilli and I cannot do without it if I were to eat at ShengKee. continue reading

Just had my lunch in this restaurant. The environment was quite spacious and cooling. The service here is abit slow and not that friendly. Dumpling noodles portion was quite generous and noodles are very chewy. Dunplings are filled with lots of juicy minced meat as well. The dumpling skin is very smoot h and thin. Big bao has very chewy bun skin that really fragrant and not too dry. Meat inside is also very fresh and juicy. For less than $10 per meal is quite value for money., continue reading

I had eaten here before and was particularly impressed with the quality of the food even though it is a casual restaurant with no service charge (you need to order at the counter). I love the smoothness of the dumplings here and the portion is just right for me. Try it with their special chilli too!I also had the Sheng Kee Bao-- which is a bit like a big chicken bao with egg and meat. I would say.. at $2.90 a bao, just stick to the other dimsum such as the egg custard bun. I think you may even find better chicken baos at coffee shops. =P continue reading

- Steamed yam cake- OfferPassed by the nicely decorated hong kong sheng kee dessert stall and a staff handed me a flyer. There's a promo for the steamed yam cake, so I bought some home to try. The name of the yam cake in chinese was stated as 腊味芋头糕, so I anticipated the yam cake to have at least some preserved chinese sausage within. I was thus disappointed to find none of that within. There was plenty of cubed yam pieces within the yam cake and minuscule bits of mushroom but that's all. Taste-wise, I find the yam cake to be too salty, which was made worse by the salty dried shrimp added as toppings to the cake. Granted, the yam cake itself was quite soft and smooth. However, generally speaking there's nothing to shout about for this item. Perhaps it's worth a try at the offer price, but I'll definitely not buy it again at the normal price.- Stallfront- Stall deco continue reading
