Currently there was a 1-for-1 promotion for the signature large fried chicken at $4.90 using the ION mobile application till 31 July 2016. One can select the flavour topping for the fried chicken. I had selected seaweed and garlic, which both smelt very good. The chicken was juicy and was not overwhelmed by the flavouring. Beware of the bones while eating. There was huge bones in the cutlet.

Finally tried the hot star original large fried chicken for $4.50. Chilli powder and seasoning were added. I felt that it was very powdery (probably didn't put the seasoning properly?). There was bone in the chicken though :/ I loved that the batter was thin and the chicken meat was thick enough to be tasted and not masked by thick batter. It was tender and moist as well. It was a very large piece and was quite filling as a snack. It's comparable to the famous shilin chicken too but i wouldn't b

Garlic Chicken - $4.50. I take away their large fried chicken, this time I opted for garlic seasoning. Their fried chicken was really large, until I had to divide my eating session into some parts haha. The only thing I dislike from Hot Star is that their chicken is not boneless. In fact, I found some cartilage inside the chicken. Nevertheless, the chicken overall was enjoyable. It was crispy, juicy, and the garlic seasoning was strong.

After my last visit to this outlet, I have recently won a $10 voucher from its facebook contest. Today I have visited the outlet again to redeem the voucher. Crispy Spicy Chicken Bites Set ($5.30)
It is served with a peach tea. The chicken is quite crispy, but also very spicy and salty to me. The chicken has a kind of tough texture, a sign of frozen meat.

Fried Mushroom ($3.20)
The mushroom is rather soft and not crispy at all. I tastes more of batter than mushroom. Barely can find any mushroom in it. And there is too much seasoning in it that overpowered the mushroom's taste.

Overall I am a bit disappointed in the choices I have made today. Better stick to its well known chicken cutlet.

Was starving in town one day and didn't really want to sit down anywhere for food because the queue everywhere were horrible. Thought of Hotstar being nearby and decided to get a chicken for my lunch! Like all the crispy chicken served here, the Lemon BBQ Chicken ($4.90) is huge! The lemon BBQ sauce reminds me of the KFC Korean crunch, not that they are exactly the same but they do taste similar, both great at different depth. This one was crispy with some good flavoured skin and flesh, love that they don't heavily coat the meat with flour like its competitors. Love it.

I ordered the Original Ji Pa just is nicely deep fried and not oily. They served the Ji Pa pipping hot but I do feel that sometimes they put too much seasoning powder on it and it's too overwhelming. I was really happy that I got a piece of soft bone inside of my Ji Pa. Really crunchy & delicious!

I ordered a set meal which consist of garlic flavor fried chicken + fries + sour plum lemonade. For Hot Star, they served the fried chicken in one whole piece, no cutting into pieces. Pretty shiok to just bite the fried chicken slowly and they fried it pretty well. Fries were a bit on the soggy side but still ok. Drink was alright, just something refreshing and cooling to complete the meal.

If you've been to Taipei's Shilin Night market, you've known that Hao Da Da has a long queue....
I remembered when I was there in 2011, I queued for this piece of chicken in the COLD WINTER.
TBH, I thought it tasted average.
Back then in Taipei, I shared the chicken fillet with my bro.
In Singapore, I shared it with my bf.
I think its just too big for myself to finish.
Anyway, I have to say that the chicken fillet was just normal.
Sure it's huge, sure the meat was not bad, but the real taste comes from the seasoning!
In fact the crispy skin didn't taste nice when I ate the part without seasoning!
-___-
The bits of bones also made it hard to messy to eat too.
Try it if you havent, but remember to drink lots of water after that

Hot star fried chicken is indeed expanding. now they even have a branch in Orchard to serve the townies. I was glad to see them open here and got myself their original chicken. their chicken is as big as ever. i like the batter they coat around the chicken. very crispy and fragrant. the chicken is very juicy and tender as well. they were kind to add quite a lot of seasoning to enhance the flavour of the chicken. it was indeed a joy eating it.
