There were two stalls adjacent to each other selling wanton mee, both with celebrities' photos and recommendations plastered all over the stall fronts, but for some reason there was a queue at this stall and none at the other. Following herd instinct, we decided to join the queue, albeit shamelessly. The most prominent part about enjoying this dish is that you will need to order it through a lady who for some reason is obnoxiously rude. Once you get past that and get served your bowl of beautiful noodles, after a 10 - 15 minutes queue, it is really quite a delicacy.

We especially enjoyed the generous offering of deep fried sliced shallots to give that much desired crunch and crispness to the noodles and that beautiful fragrance. The chilli sauce was spicy and delivered a solid punch of heat that cut through the savouriness of the soy-sauce based wanton noodles. The wanton (dumplings) were okay, packing a mouthful bite of fatty minced pork but nothing too impressive. The char siew was disappointing, thin, dry and lacked any roast flavour. The noodles were cooked al dente, springy and chewy but the noodles were sticking to each other, giving a rather starchy feeling to the palate.

We ordered the deep fried wanton to complement the noodles, just for that extra oomph with something crunchy and crispy. The wantons were fried perfectly to a crisp surface and golden brown delicious, but there were remnants of the oil being splattered onto the plate, probably from a rushed serving. There were barely any meat wrapped under that wanton skin, but well, it complemented the main noodle dish.

This is one of the few wanton mee stalls in this food centre. Queue can be spotted during lunch, dinner and weekends. Their smallest portion at $3 can be quite small so i usually go for the $4. It served with a few slices of char siew, wantons and some green. I always requested for extra chilli to be added even so, the level of spiciness is still pretty mild. They added in the fried shallots just before served. The texture of the noodle is what made them stand out amongst their competitors.

This is amongst one of my most favourite wanton mee stalls in Singapore. Whenever i come here to have my fix for wanton noodle, i always made it a point to order their wantons soup too. I did not exactly count how many of them served in the tasty soup with some vegetable. Their wantons have got nice fillings consists of minced meat and water chestnut wrapped in a thin layer of wanton skin. These wantons go well with their eggy noodle.

The wanton was also packed with fillings of minced meat and prawn. The wow factor probably lied with the chilli sauce. The sambal type chilli sauce complemented and gave flavour to the noodle.

I didnt expect to wait so long for the noodles so I was quite famished when I finally got my bowl of wanton mee. The char siew is the reddish type of char siew, not really my preferred kind, but I thought the long queue for its wanton won't be wrong. In the end, I guess taste is subjective. I didn't really find anything nice about the char siew as it tasted too sweet to me. As for the noodles, it soaked up the gravy too fast, so it ended up being quite dry and clumpy which made eating it quite difficult since it is hard to separate the noodle strands. I don't think I will be back even if there is no queue since their noodles don't appeal to me.

Though i stayed away for a little while after my last visit in October 2011 but still, whenever i have gotten this crazy craze for wanton mee, this stall is amongst the few other stalls that i will give a thought. My partner was there and he took away the $4.00 portion with extra chill added for my dinner.

It still tasted rather good even after 30 minutes of travelling time from the food centre to home. A reasonable portion of noodle that came with quite a few slice of char siew and a few pieces of wantons seemed good enough to fill my hungry stomach. The noodle still retained its springiness and did not lump together. After mixed it well with the chilli, it was up to my expectation.

I guess the key to the good standard of this particular wanton mee is to come during the off peak, the period in between lunch and dinner would be an ideal choice.

I told her my order in a precise manner to avoid stepping on her toes. Though i requested for extra chilli but i did not get what i wanted when i gotten my bowl of wanton noodle. She might have not heard it right as i did not receive an acknowledgement from her upon order or my order has been overlooked. I did not remember hearing her conversing the request of extra chilli to the cook.

The portion for $3.00 was not too filling, a handful of noodle served with a few slices of char siew and 2 wantons. I ended up looking for more foods after done eating my bowl of noodle.

All in all, this particular visit was a disappointing one. I might be back but definitely not too soon.

There are quite a few wanton noodle stalls at this food centre, and after trying out every one of them, this is no doubt my favourite. The noodle is springy, with really nice wanton, but the chilli is not hot enough, it would definitely be nicer if the chilli is hotter but nonetheless, this wanton mee is really nice. Even if this is not the nicest wanton mee but would definitely still be one of the top 3 in Singapore. I always go for the bigger bowl ($4.00) as the smaller bowl ($3.00) is not fil
