During morning hours, there was a long queue at this Wanton Mee stall in Clementi West Food Centre. Hence, I decided to join in the queue. The aunty manning the stall was slightly slow in serving and preparing the Wanton Mee.I ordered the Dry Wanton Mee at $2.50. The serving was quite worth with the number of Wantons and slices of Char Siew. The Wanton Mee was somewhat disappointing. The noodles seem to be over-cooked, the texture was soggy and tasted floury. It seem that there was no special sauce for dry version, just diluted soya sauce. Though the noodle was not good, the wantons were good. Big and meaty of the wantons. The Char Siew was average, handmade and not the roasted type. continue reading

Wanton noodles ($2.50): the noodles are quite soft (softer than usual, perhaps a little overcooked). There are some char siew slices in it which are not touch but dry. The wantons are quite tasty and packed with flavour. More gravy is given so that the noodles will not dry up. continue reading

FoodOrdered the chicken shredded noodle (Kway Tiao) with mushroom, S$2.50. This dish was not illustrated on the main menu above the stall and can be found from the menu stated on the transparent shelving in Chinese wordings. Ingredients given by the lady was quite generous, with chicken, mushrooms and vegetables (bokchoy). What caught me in surprise was the chicken meat. Although it was mentioned on the menu that as shredded chicken, what I received was actually some braised chicken meat. Meat was tender and coated with braised sauce similar to the braised mushroom. This plate of shredded chicken noodle tastes good with the sauce on. The red chilli will be added upon asking while green chilli was added by the customer, self service.ServiceA "one-woman-show" stall. The "ah-ma" (granny) who looks humble and skinny has the whole stall to herself and was quite capable to handle order, handling food and money all on her own. Service may be a little slow but please bear with her. Recommendation / TipsI saw a big red in color char siew boiling over her wok a few times. Try her Char Siew Noodles! continue reading
