This is an outlet that sells Japanese cuisine. I live to eat their bento set there. They provide bento set which is value for Monet. This bento cost me less than $10. There are fried chicken cutlet, fried Gyoza and 5 grain Japanese rice in the set. It takes about 10 mins waiting time for them to prepare the set and was served pipping hot. I enjoyed eating the rice as it is very delicious and healthy. The chicken cutlet cones with BBQ sauce is very juicy too. Room for improvement will be the rice

A god place to have delicious lunch set with comfortable environment.

The scrambled eggs complement so well with the tender chicken but the only pity was that I couldn't finish it because the portion is just too huge for my tummy.

Ichiban definitely serves decent japanese food!

I originally wanted to order the 7 piece salmon sashimi which costs $9.90 but when I saw the sashimi salad, I decided to order that since the price is the same and I thought it would be great to try out another restaurant’s sashimi salad to see how it compares to the one I frequently ate at Sushi Tei. Like Sushi Tei, the dressing comes on the side which is good as it gives customers the choice of how much to add. However, there is only one dressing available, unlike in Sushi Tei where there are 3. Anyway, I would say in terms of value, Ichiban Boshi definitely wins since their sashimi is sliced and I counted around 7 or 8 pieces of salmon in total, with some small cubes of tuna. Whereas in Sushi Tei, the sashimi are all cut into little cubes and I think the combined sashimi is definitely lesser than Ichiban’s. I really enjoyed the sashimi salad here and it is very satisfying – crisp lettuce with shredded carrot and cucumber, tomato quarters and sashimi, everything is very refreshing to the bite. The dressing is tangy as well and it goes well with the vegetables. I will definitely order this the next time I return!

This sashimi & sushi goen is $26.90 and there are assorted sashimi and sushi, tea pot soup, chawanmushi, appetizer and fruit. The assorted sashimi were fresh but slices were not very thick nor thin. The sushi tasted average. The tea pot soup did not have the taste that makes me want to drink more. The chawanmushi was quite good and the egg was smooth and well flavoured. The appetizer which was the tofu was quite ordinary too. I think price is around the same if you order ala carte.

mini bbq eel rice bowl: i love the soya egg which tasted good with the rice but the eel was quite little and thinly sliced. Chopped chilli padi was used in the raw salmon rice bowl which was a little weird. Assorted tempura lacked flavour but was still acceptable. Chawanmushi was good. It was served really hot and it was not salty too. Overall, this is worth a try!

This isn't my first time having a good meal at Ichiban Boshi, but this time I dragged my mom to give it a try. We went to the outlet at JEM right before the lunch rush so we could avoid any queues and the lunch crowd that was certain to swamp the place.I helped myself to a plate of Kaisen Salad which is bascially a generous portion of salad with an even more generous helping of sashimi. The sashimi was a bit disappointing however, as it was not as tasty and fresh as other outlets I have perused.

My mom went for a set meal which Ichiban Boshi is famous for in my opinon. They offer a wide range of sets that contains a mixture of dishes, enabling the undecided to have a taste of a little bit of everything. The set my mom ordered had a rice bowl with chicken, tempura and grilled salmon. Every bit of the meal was heavenly and well worth the money. The grilled salmon did not have a strong fishy smell (which my mom dislikes) and it had a nice glazed texture to it. The tempura was decently made although there was a lot of batter, and the rice bowl was delicious.

Service is quick and the staff were all very attentive and focused on their job. One issue was that air conditioner was on full blast and chilled us to the bones, especially at the tables beside the sushi conveyor belt, so feel free to request for a table change if you're not up for a fight with the cold!

these crispy sweet shrimps are a great snack and it is recommended to eat this with sake. It also goes well with the squeezed lemon.

I like the ambience here though, as compared to Ichiban Sushi.

Jewel Box: $4.20
There's premium BBQ eel, cheese, potato flakes and some fish roe with sesame seeds on top. I like the potato flakes on this sushi! It's really interesting, but I do think that they have a similar sushi called Golden Catch (dory fish instead of BBQ eel)

(They gave us different plates as they said they ran out of the normal polka dot plates they had to give, but the presentation is still there so no worries!)

Once this promotion ends, I believe that I would've found alternatives for these 2 sushis if i ever need to try them again. Then again, I do hope that they put this on the usual menu so that we are able to eat them as and when we like to!

P.S. Doing this review made me realize how costly these sushis are! If i top up about $5-6 more, I could get a full set meal! Perhaps these sushi should be eaten once in awhile only.

Tuna sushi $4.20
This Tuna sushi was EXTREMELY fresh and exquisite-tasting, and it didn't feel like anything that comes out from the tuna can. It's a great way to share if you have dining partners in group of three, so each of you can have a wide variety yet not feeling full!

Salmon Sashimi Salad $8.90 (a la carte)

In an attempt to be healthy, I tried having a salad-meal for a first time but almost vomited because the lettuce was really so fresh, that I felt like I was eating the plants from the garden in my neighbourhood estate. Anyway, the sauce was really extremely sour and I didn't know what it was. The oranges were quite acidic, but to top it off, I really love the salmon as a combination with the lettuce!

Chicken Katsu Rice - $9.90

This was quite a large portion, do not judge its' dish by its layout for it was rather filling! The sweet curry was a fine addition to the crispy pan-fried chicken, though I felt the rice was a little bit too Chinese-style rather than truly the japanese-grain. But still, it is the nearest one could ever get! I really enjoyed the whole stay with the excellent service in Jurong East Mall!
Thumbs up!

But if you go inside the resto, you would see that there’s also a sushi conveyor belt where you can enjoy the offerings there. I wasn’t really craving for sushi so I just checked the menu and decided on the chicken karaage. It just looked so good in the photo that I decided to have it for lunch.

When my order came, it was in a take-away microwavable container (even though I was dining in). Aside from three big pieces of the chicken, there was also 1 dumpling and 1 potato cake. When I took a bite of the potato cake, it was hot! The dumpling was hot too and crispy. The chicken karaage had a really crispy breading. The meat was well marinated and was very tender. It tasted like it was freshly cooked. The rice they gave was the brown version… the healthy one so I thoroughly enjoyed it, too. My meal only cost about 7 dollars so it’s pretty reasonable.

The wazen or set meal is better value than ordering the various items separately. Food was served quickly to facilitate fast customer turnover. Staff were polite if a little indifferent. Overall not bad but not exceptional dining experience either.
