Started from HK and spread to SG. They make good sushi affordable. Gone are the days when a good salmon sushi costs $1.90 a piece. At first, I was very curious about how a 40cents salmon sushi tasted like. After my first bite, it had become my must-eat. The lightly char-ed surface brought out the fattiness in the salmon and the layer of sweet soy sauce enhanced the flavor.Another interesting fact. The creator of Itacho is a sushi master in Japan and the first few non-jap buyer who over bid the jap for their Tuna! This plate of sushi costed less than S$15. Different textures and flavors obtained from the different sushi made it so interesting and appetizing to eat.  Read More

We went for the sushi promotion which starts at 9pm. Offer is $0.80 for a pair of sushi for selected flavours. If you buy more than 12 pairs of sushi you get a free milk tea. This offered good value and was filling.Pork sushi was unique but on the whole wont order it again at its normal price. Somehow the pork was not suited for sushi. We enjoyed the tuna sushi, which was glazed briefly over fire, and it removed some of the fishy smell. We also had some kind of fish on a satay stick with mango sauce- it was nice and unique. This was not part of the promotion. On a whole would come for the promotion again, very worth itRead More

Fried japanese oysters $12 were fresh and the juices were retained within even though they were deep fried. Grilled cod fish roll with beancurd skin $6 - The beancurd skin was sweet but the cod fish tasted average. The grilled salmon with spicy miso was quite thin but the flesh was tender and the spicy miso taste was quite subtle. Lastly, the milk green tea was decent! I wasn't expecting much but every sip got me wanting more. If you love bubble teas, this is worth a try Read More

As my partner and I weren't really hungry and I wanted something healthy, we decided on Itacho for dinner. We ordered some sushi to share:Roasted squid leg sushi and Salmon soya sauce sushi: The salmon sushi was only 40cents each! Really nice and cheap - something that I always order whenever I go to Itacho. Such a pity that they're only limited to 2 per pax This seared tuna roll ($5.50) was on their special menu, the heading was something like 'Bluefin Tuna Festival' with other types of bluefin tuna sushi and sashimi. This taste okay to me.. I still prefer their aburi salmon sushi.Mantis Prawn Sushi $3: This was the first time I has seen a Mantis Prawn Sushi in any restaurant. We decided to give it a try. The flesh tasted like crab with its natural subtle sweetness but the texture was more firm. Not bad!Other dishes that we ordered..Soft shell crab hand roll $4.90: Tasted like all other soft shell crab hand rolls, with the rice, shredded cucumber and soft shell crab wrapped in a piece of seaweed. The only thing which can improve for this dish would be for the seaweed to be more crisp.Salmon sashimi $1.80: We got these at 50% off! Even though there're only 3 slices, they are pretty big slices and very fresh, hence we think it's pretty worth it Have been to Itacho (other branches) before and I've never been disappointed Will definitely return for its healthy, fresh and affordable food!Read More

udon with seafood in tom yum soup $13seafood was fresh but the tom yum's taste was rather average. it was quite spicy but lacking the fragrance of tom yum. udon was springy and chewy. salmon head $3.80the salmon flesh was quite smooth, soft and tender. sauce was average tasting only. seafood salad $6.30the salad tasted very fresh but i didn't like the mayonnaise toppings on top as it defeated the purpose of eating healthy (salad)Shrimp spring roll $3the exterior was very crispy but the inside was too moist and wet which made the texture a little soggy.Food did not come fast nor slow. Overall, it was an average dining experience. Read More

Went to itacho with a group of friends during the happy hour, and we were able to enjoy great jap food at discounted prices. I got myself a small hot spring egg cold udon with sesame oil ($6.80), and it tasted GREAT! Mainly because of the unique taste and the springy noodles. Also got a number of ala carte sushi at 80 cents each! Those I can remember: mango avocado sushi roll, fish roe roll, spicy salmon roll. Also, if you buy 12 pieces of sushi, you get one free green tea or milk tea! Had a really full meal and I only spent about $13, which is very worth it for the great quality. My friends who didn't buy udon or rice spent under $10 and they ate a lot too! Great atmosphere too. There were 5 people in our party and we went into one of the private booths, where we sat for a few hours (till the last order). The disadvantage about sitting inside is that it's not so easy to catch the attention of the service staff. Totally recommend going here! Read More

Ordered a daisen set $68++ for 2 pax. this set consists of 2 miso soup and the following:assorted sashimi: fresh and was a great appetizer and start to our really filling and satisfying meal. assorted sushi roll:the vinegar taste in the rice was quite strong. sushi tasted quite meh. not worth getting steamed egg chawanmushi (2)this was good! the steamed egg was served warm and there were plenty of ingredients in it. it was not salty too. assorted tempura: consists of carrot, shrimps, oysters and mushrooms. the batter was thin enough so that we could enjoy and savour the ingredients in the batter.saba fishthe fish had lots of meat in it. the only shortcoming was that the teriyaki (?) sauce made it a tad salty.the last item in this set was the soft shell crab salad. the soft shell crab was not soggy even though it was mixed with the salad dressing. There was nothing to rave about this dish though. alacarte: eel minirice this came in a really mini rice bowl! nothing special. service was quite fast and efficient despite it being a sunday evening. Itacho is a must go place to satisfy your jap food cravings and the price is good for its value. I would definitel recomend Chawanmushi. It is a must-try at every Japanese meal you have anywhere .I really love this smooth chawanmushi that seems to slide down my throat. i have three of it they have many sushi there.Try their salmon sushi! the seafood is fresh and the rice is complement the salmon so well.Read More

This is my second time dining in at Itacho Sushi. My friend and I reached the restaurant at around 9pm and this was when one of the promotions started. We ordered 24 pieces of sushi at $0.80 each and we were entitled to 2 free drinks (12 pieces of sushi for 1 free drink). The sushi were really fresh and they were of good quality. The udon in tomato soup base is nice too. It was quite worth it due to the promotions.Read More

For full review, check out my post at http://mingmingisstella.blogspot.com/2013/06/food-review-itacho-sushi-at-jcube.html1) Udon with deep fried pork chop in curry soup ($11)The texture of their udon is just right and springy. My guy kept praising it. The udon did absorb the curry taste. However the curry is a little watery but still it did a good job. There are potatoes and carrots in it. So usually when we have curry, the pork chop is a must to dip into it. I always encourage people to taste their originality first before dipping to compare. This pork chop that we have is crispy on the outside, tender meat on the inside. 2) Deep Fried Shrimp Gyoza with Green Tea Salt ($2.40)Nothing great. It failed me this round. But instead of the typical way of having it with ginger and vinegar, they used Green Tea Salt. Quite nice.3) Small Don, Bara Chirashi ($6.80) Those who went Taiwan before or have Braised Pork Rice before in Singapore, don't you find it familiar? But anyway, those I called it minced meat on top with a small egg, when you mix it with the rice, it tastes okay only. A little spiciness is there. And the rice is a little hard. Don't like this don and regretted it. 4) Top Salmon Belly with Black Pepper ($4.50)It is totally different from what is shown in their menu even though they have side note to say that what is shown in their menu is for reference. But hey, a little extreme right? The menu never show any sauce it in. It is just like salmon only with sprinkle of black pepper, dry type but what they gave me is this and told me this is what I have ordered. This salmon belly is not fresh and not properly prepared.5) Shrimp Spring Roll ($3)This one compensate those lousy food before that. We love this. Crispy outside. The sauce matches it perfectly with a touch of sweetness. Just like having salad fried fritters but they use mayo as the dip.And then we had some assorted sushi and realized that their sushi are better than their main course. But the sushi size is a little too tiny.Judge yourself. Go try it.Read More

Last Friday, I went to Itacho Sushi again, at JCube.I ordered my favourite sashimi rice, it is called the Sake Don in the menu. The salmon sashimi on rice, served with miso soup costs me $11, exclusive of tax and service charges. It was quite expensive for a student like me, but the quality of the dish definitely makes the price worth after all.The portion of the rice was really big and sufficient for big eaters. The sashimi was also very thickly sliced, and generously served. There was about 8-10 pieces of thick sliced salmon on my rice.I was so happy that time because I am really a huge fan of salmon sashimi The dish was served about 5 minutes after I placed my order. The quality of the rice was very good, and the sashimis were very fresh.Tasted awesome with wasabi and soy sauce! Will come back again to try more dishes Read More

It was the best udon I had ever ate!The freshness and sweetness of the tomato soup made me love this dish like crazy! The soup complemented very well with the udon which was extremely spingy and chewy. The beef was just so-so.The price of this dish was $11.50, excluding tax and service charges. It was slightly expensive but you will find it worth the price after eating that!!I ate this dish 2 weeks ago, and I am now craving for it again!Service was a little slow, but good food worth the wait!! FoodFood size had strunk drastically. I dont remember getting such portion of Roasted egg. Roasted egg is plain and costs $2.40 for such few pieces. Lobster & Mango Salad Roll comes in 2. Mango is quite fresh and lobster is filled with mayonnaise and abit of wasabi. Cost $4.50.$6.80 for a bowl of seafood udon small. It is quite spicy and hot. If not for my green tea, I dont think I can survive with its spiciness. Eel rice tastes moderate. Cost $14 per bowl.Steam Egg (Chawanmushi) with Crab (Kani) costs $4.20, it comes with big shitake mushroom and I find that this dish is definitely a must try as it is quite special from other japanese sushi outlet.Swordfish sashimi is always my favourite and for this 3 pieces portion it costs me $10.50. I was kind of shocked when i see that the portion is so small. The grilled pork sushi is not bad. I find that the pork was well grilled. The green tea with rice is rather tasty. Just love the fragrance of it.For the whole of my dinner, we spent $51.45 after service charge and GST. ServiceService is normal and business wasnt as good as before. There weren't so much crowd as compared to last time.AmbienceAmbience is ok, not very japanese dinning furnitures but the atmosphere is filled with warmth due to its lightings.Price$25 each for 2 person dining is rather ok considering that we have ordered a number of dishes.Recommendation / TipsI will recommend its steam egg with crab as it is quite tasty! However I felt abit disappointed with the roasted egg and sashimi portion.I will visit this place less.Read More

First time here, and it was well, not bad. I'm not really a sushi person as you can see here. But this place certainly reminds me of the much cheaper and better version in HK.This tea is really good. You will like it if you prefer a roasted flavour in your green tea. Black pepper salmon. Can be more pepperyCrispy skin, and juicy centre. Can be better with chunkier prawn bits. This suits me well. Good sauce. Cooked just nicely.Read More

My friends and I went to Itacho Sushi for dinner on a Friday night, as a post exam celebration. Itacho Sushi is located at the far end of Jcube mall, but there is always a long queue during dinner time. The FoodI ordered the sushis there. There is this sushi promotion for orders after 9pm. This promotion reduces the prices of some sushis to only $0.80 (before service charge and GST). It is a good idea to go there at around 8.30pm, order some food and order the promotion food items at around 8.55pm. The hot green tea has a very distinct rice taste. There is free flow of drinks for more than $10 spent nett per person. The roasted salmon sushi is PERFECT. It is the best sushi I tasted in Singapore. There is a sweet, fragrant smell that leaves the diner pining for more. The sushi is flame grilled to perfection and is very tender. It is a MUST TRY.The duck sushi is very tasty as well. It is soft, juicy and tender. It definitely scores well as one of the most unique and exotic sushis which blend Chinese cuisine with Japanese food! The ServiceEfficient and polite. The staff there regularly topped up my hot green tea and was quick with orders. However, the food took some time to arrive, as there were many people in the restaurant. The AmbienceThe restaurant is a bit dark but it still offers a good dining ambience. The PriceReasonably priced. My meal usually costs around $15 to $25, depending on the number of sushis and side dishes ordered.OverallI enjoy the food a lot and will definitely come back for more!
