It has been some time since I visited Ivan porridge. Because chicken is sold out. So I ordered S$3 minced pork ball, Century Egg and Egg ($0.30). However, they totally forgotten about the century egg. I told them he didnt give me century egg, but he insisted that this is the correct order. Generous portion of minced pork ball, but the congee is not smooth enough and quite diluted. . I definitely prefer their shredded chicken & century egg congee. continue reading

Pork congee $2.50. I love the watery yet not diluted texture of the porridge. Although it was rather bland, the taste was improved after adding extra seasoning. The texture of the congee was very smooth and fine though. Yu sheng $4. freshly sliced sashimi with lots of ginger, green onions and chopped red chilli.. yummy! It may look gross but it actually tasted good even though they were thinly sliced. There was a slight "bone" texture on some slices though! Serving was also generous! continue reading

Ordered a bowl of shredded chicken porridge for $2.50. There is also a $3 portion but $2.50 is already filling enough unless you have a really big appetite. The porridge tasted quite bland, probably because I did not add any additional soy sauce. It could be more flavourful, perhaps they could improve on their broth used to cook the congee. The shredded chicken meat was plentiful however it was quite tough. continue reading

This stall used to be located in the Empress Road Food Centre, off Farrer Road. For many years, before my marriage till now I am married for years, it was the thought of the sashimi that had made me or my hubby to wake up early to feast on the sashimi! ~ The porridge was well-prepared and there are all sorts of varieties, I normally order the mixed pork porridge, minced pork porridge or the century egg-cuttlefish porridge. The fried beehoon was good as well. Most importantly as I had mentioned above, the fresh chinese-styled sashimi was the BEST I had ever tasted. We would always ordered more than 1 plate! The $4 plate of freshly sliced sashimi is garnished with loads of spring onions, fresh-cut chilies, ginger and fried shallots and the delicious special sauce (should be soy sauce & sesame oil). After so many years, the standard and quality of the food did not drop at all and this is indeed commendable. It's making drool again! continue reading
