This is the first time I tried Jack's place food. At first, I thought it was expensive when I walked passed the restaurant. However, I changed my mind after I ate their food. Surprisingly, they have lots of foods like appetizers, soups, rice, noodles and desserts.Baked rice with chicken - $14.80I like the rice. I love brownies & ice cream! The brownie was warm, and when you eat with the ice cream, it melts into your tongue.

The price may be expensive, but with the service and nice foods, you may not want to miss trying here! 
 It's a good experience and environment.

Jack place is known for their steak, but because i wanted to tried something else, i ordered chicken cutlet which comes with fries and coleslaw. Since it is a simple dish it is hard to go wrong. I specially like the cheese coated on top of the chicken cutlet, thats what that make the dish more unique than the usual chicken cutlet. The skin is very crispy and flavorful. I specially like the cheese coated on top of the chicken cutlet, thats what that make the dish more unique than the usual chicken cutlet. The skin is very crispy and flavorful. Also love how tender the chicken is! The fries and coleslaw are quite normal though.

My verdict - With the price paid, i would rather pay a bit more for for Jack Place's Steak instead.

Just before my show at Nex, I walked past this one - Jack's Place and they are having week day lunch meal deal - Sirloin steak and Mango Salmon.The ambience was quiet as it was around 11am. I ordered middle rare for the steak and my wife took the salmon set together with the fired calamari and some salad. The tomato soup was nice with some potato pieces in it. When the main was served, my wife mentioned that she cannot taste any mango on the salmon but my steak was tender and cook to perfection.

There are many different types of steaks. Today, Merlion Wayfarer realized that the heaviest steak may not necessarily the juiciest!

The steaks here were of 3 classifications : 180g, 250g, 350g. Feeling ravenous, she ordered the 350g T-Bone Steak - "NZ Silver Fern Farm T-Bone Steak" which was described as "A true Western favourite, a hearty 350h steak that's sure to appease your hunger" (Price : $24).

And my my, it was HUGE!

Then she realized why it was so heavy! The bone was huge and chunky and took up more than half the proportion of the entire piece!

Worse still, the steak was few of sinews and fats. And she really had to hack it with her steak knife (note, "steak knife", not just an ordinary fish or chicken knife). And each piece she had was hardly quality meat.

And the meat had a strong aftertaste. The really "beefy beef" taste. Arghz, what an introduction to the T-Bone Steak!

Oh yes, on an afternote, she had to return the baked potato to the kitchen as it was served cold on a hot place. All the rest of the items were sizzling hot, Even the vegetables leave a trail of steam in their wake. Yet the potato was served C-O-L-D! Ok, time to improve your kitchen processes, Jack's Place!

Attention to all steak lovers, this is a place to have good steak at a low costthe steak served comes with SAMBAL sauce at the side which is GREAT as it is spicy and nicethe portion of meat is just right and it very filling !what's best is that every month, jack's place offer promotion to allow you to save even more !The steak is cooked just nice and its not too hard or not too raw!The seafood platter there is also great (for those finger food lovers) and the portion is great too !Do try it out

Jack's has been around for quite a long time.
I recall that it has been around since my secondary school days.

Nowadays, the menu has been revamped to include upscale and exotic items like lobster.
However we settled for the more mundane ones as we were not adventurous enough, yet!

We started with homemade Mushroom soup with Garlic Bread.
Of course, the soup is a speciality of this restaurant and a must-have!
For drinks we got a pot of Twinings Peach Tea - full of flavour and a lingering fragrance indeed. One pot is enough for two to share.


We ordered two sides - Calamari rings and Mixed Garden salad.
The Calamari rings were great with the tartar sauce on the side. Likewise, our favourite dressing for the salad was thousand island. The salad was fresh and contains cruchy lettuce. capsicum, pineapple slices, olives and tomatoes.

I decided on something more traditional - Fried Rice with seafood.
It was ok, nothing really extra special about it, though.
Perhaps Jack's main plus is in western, and, not local foods.
The Lamb Chops did not disappoint, they were delicious and full of flavour.
The mint sauce was an added complement to the dish.

Overall the food was good and the ambience was cozy.
However, the restaurant, with its traditional decor, is looking a little old-fashioned and not as new and fashionable as a new restaurant. After all this location is quite a new one. Perhaps something could be done to spruce up the decor a little.

For the prices charged, I feel the restaurant could be made more cozy.
The staff are prompt and attentive. They are always around to assist and advise!

We love steak so we would always order the steak lunch set that cost a little more than $10 and it comes with soup of the day, a drink/tea/coffee and dessert. The beef steak was medium rare but it was not that soft when it came. However, it was still much better than Swensens, in my humble opinion. The soup, dessert and drink were normal. A visit to Jack's always presents a chance to try something new and different.The menu offers a delectable variety of mouth watering dishes.We started with the Cream of Mushroom Soup. Decided to dropby Jack's Place at Nex serangoon and ordered their New Zealand steak executive set lunch. It consist of a soup of the day, garlic bread, dessert that day was chocolate chips ice-cream and tea or coffee. Portion of the steak was of acceptable size, with baked potato and vegetables like cauliflower and green peas. The steak was medium rare and it taste nice and soft. Overall, it was value for money executive set lunch. Will definitely visit again.

Quickly, we set off for Nex since it was quite near to our house. By the time we arrived at about 12.30pm, there was already a queue. We queued for nearly an hour before we got our seats. The area was not big and they placed many tables in the small area so it was very cramp. No privacy if you want to chit chat cos the next table is just about 25cm away, unless you go those seats away from the window area.

Although crowded, we were served our soup promptly but have to wait for a while before our main dish was served. The beef was slightly overcooked, perhaps due to the overwhelming response and crowd. But then it was their opening day, so I can understand. The dessert was not bad. Maybe can give this outlet another try.
