Jack's Place offers set lunch until 2.30pm, and they have different dishes available every day (set lunch comes with drink and dessert). On the day I went it was the chicken chop with greens and mashed potato - a very average but filling dish, chicken wasn't very tender. I also topped up $2+ for the lobster bisque, was thick and creamy. They also have student meal which is very affordable at $7.90, with a soft drink and dessert. I chose the fish fingers, which were breaded dory, not exceptional but portion was good. continue reading

Slipper Lobster and Chicken ComboSlipper Lobster are not true lobsters but they are closely related to spiny and furry lobsters.Half size of slipper lobster baked and topped with fragrant chopped garlic.Accompanied for this combo dish is a large piece of chicken chop. The chicken meat is very tender with the chicken skin in tact.At the side of the two combination is a giant baked potato with sliced celery and carrots. The baked potato goes well with Jack’s Place signature topping of sour cream, bacons chips and generous serving of diced spring onions.Priced at S$25.30.Grilled Lamb Chop with Mint Sauce. The three pieces of lamb chop which are delicate, tender and juicy. These lamb chops are rubbed with chopped herbs, garlic, salt and pepper, and olive oil and seared all over on high heat, let rest a few minutes, and serve. A lamb chop is such a lovely tender cut of meat not to be overcooked. My hubby preferred medium well for his lamb chops. Serve with some French Fries, celery roots and carrots. Topped with mint sauce which is less violent in flavour but exceptionally good.Price: S$19.40 continue reading

Jack place serves really nice steaks! As a steak lover, of course i have to try their ribeye steak priced at $28.90. Their steak was served on a hot metal plate (cow shaped). I ordered my steak to be medium and the steak was really nice! The meat was soft and tender and abit bloody red, cooked perfectly The sides were baked potato, corn with some raw onions. The potato was served with mayonise, bacon bits and spring onions. Though i dont really like potato, but it was really nice! Overall, Jack place is a good place for western cuisine especially their steak! continue reading

The FoodAs usual, I ordered Jack's Place lunch set meal for lunch and it comes with the soup of the day as starter, not forgetting the garlic bread that came with it. Love it so much, as I love to soak my garlic bread in the soup. Slurp!! Delish.Service was pretty slow as it was lunch time. My grilled fillet of fish with ginger lemongrass sauce was good and it is a healthy choice as I do not like to have a heavy lunch. The fish was soft and tasty. The portion was just right for me too. continue reading

Jack's place has always been a special place to dine for many years now.Jack's has been around for quite a long time.I recall that it has been around since my secondary school days.Nowadays, the menu has been revamped to include upscale and exotic items like lobster. However we settled for the more mundane ones as we were not adventurous enough, yet!We started with homemade Mushroom soup with Garlic Bread.Of course, the soup is a speciality of this restaurant and a must-have!For drinks we got a pot of Twinings Peach Tea - full of flavour and a lingering fragrance indeed. One pot is enough for two to share. We ordered two sides - Calamari rings and Mixed Garden salad. The Calamari rings were great with the tartar sauce on the side. Likewise, our favourite dressing for the salad was thousand island. The salad was fresh and contains cruchy lettuce. capsicum, pineapple slices, olives and tomatoes.I decided on something more traditional - Fried Rice with seafood. It was ok, nothing really extra special about it, though.Perhaps Jack's main plus is in western, and, not local foods. The Lamb Chops did not disappoint, they were delicious and full of flavour. The mint sauce was an added complement to the dish.Overall the food was good and the ambience was cozy. However, the restaurant, with its traditional decor, is looking a little old-fashioned and not as new and fashionable as a new restaurant. After all this location is quite a new one. Perhaps something could be done to spruce up the decor a little. For the prices charged, I feel the restaurant could be made more cozy. The staff are prompt and attentive. They are always around to assist and advise! continue reading
