Signature Dishes
Was here for parents' anniversary and got to try an array of dishesThe Shark Fin Soup was served hot and when sipped upon, did not feel any guilt from unwanted calories as the soup was not overly sticky and the texture was just right Lobster was served while as one of the dishes. The flavor was not overpowering and you could taste the sweetness of the meatThe duck was chopped up and served with cold cabbage. The Steamed Fish' meat was soft and supple. The picture is after the servers had separated portions for everyone. Abalone and mushroom. The abalone and mushroom was cooked to perfection. The taste was easy on the buds and easily sliced and chewed. The vegetables on the side was a good touch.Their sausage rice is supposed to be their specialty at the restaurant. The manager stopped by to describe the process of cooking and how important timing was to make sure the rice was just right. There were several selections of sausage to choose from and gravy was provided for us to add to our rice if we wanted more saltiness and flavor.Dessert was light and refreshing. This must be the best chrysanthemum and 'gou ji' dessert I've had in Singapore. Not too sweet and perfect to end the night. The servers were very courteous and when asked on several occasions for sauces of several kinds, they were served immediately without delay, nor was the request 'forgotten". Perhaps it was because they were slightly older and experienced in providing good service.

This is a restaurant which derives its business largely from regulars whom are mostly wine lovers. Not surprisingly, Jade Palace has an excellent range of stemware and the wine service is impeccable. While the restaurant has an extensive and affordable list of wines mainly from Bordeaux, Champagne and Burgundy, it does not charge corkage for customers who bring their own wines to drink there. It serves arguably the best roast duck in town. My other favourite dishes include braised fish head with bean-curd skin and bitter gourd. Both dishes goes extremely well with plain rice. Some of their other signature dishes include deep fried frogs legs with crispy ginger slices. The restaurant is also known for its claypot rice. It is sinfully good with 2 kinds of chinese sausages and preserved meats being my favourite. Another great dish which only regulars know about is the Thai claypot glass noodles with prawns. The glass noodles have a special texture which is springy and soft. When cooked with fresh prawns the combination is just heavenly. The owner explained that the glass noodles are hand made and is not available anywhere in Singapore. It is specially hand carried every month from overseas as the supplier refused to export overseas as he does not have enough for the domestic market.

I joined my girlfriend and her family for dim sum at jade palace restaurant at forum shopping mall. The dim sum there is simply exquisite. Really delicious. my favourite is their egg tarts. It is very fragrant. The pastry itself have this strong buttery taste. It crumbles at every bite, the egg custard filling is really good, smooth, creamy and most importantly not so sweet. it is really good quality dim sum. I strongly recommend the dim sum here.
