Whenever I have craving for thai food, I will visit Jai Thai because of its reasonable and authentic thai food. Their pineapple rice was tasty and fragrant and along with the green curry was even better. However, it would have been better if the pandan chicken have a stronger pandan flavour. Lastly, it only cost $9.80 for set, thus it is definitely worth it.

This establishment is known for cheap and good Thai food! The food here is really yummy with everything I have tried being good. One dish that I really enjoy is the spring rolls. These rolls are fried to perfection and are very crispy and yummy. The filling is flavoursome, and the outside is really crunchy complementing the soft interiors. They are also not expensive costing about $5/plate.

Jai Thai is affordable Thai food in the heart of the city, only costing $6.50 for the green curry set, they also include drinks (ice-lemon tea or lime juice) as well as a dessert of the day. that day, i had a little slice of mango pudding. the dessert wasn't nice, but the main course was real authentic Thai food. the service crew was Thai, and i assumed that the chef must have been Thai too because it tasted exactly the way Thais would cook it, sour, and not modified recipes! i love the abundan

er and garlic ($6.00). Came in small chunk size, but meat is soft, making it easy to chew. Great for kids!
Pineapple rice ($4.00). Rice is quite mushy, and topped with what I think is chicken floss? Not sure if the mushy-ness is supposed to their style, but I quite like it.
Green Curry Chicken ($5.00). Curry is thick and sweet, and suitable to go with rice.

Overall their food are quite delicious, and with its reasonably priced food, it does save several degree burns off your pocket!

The crowds at this laid back and unpretentious Thai cafe attest to its popularity. Jai Thai has a reputation of serving affordably priced & fairly authentic Thai food for the masses. It serves set meals priced at $6.80+ or $8.80+ which offers a choice of beverages together with a piece of Thai dessert. The $6.80 sets are usually a noodle dish or plain rice served with either green curry or tom yum soup. The $8.80 set comprises either pineapple rice or olive rice served with four side dishes.I op

I opted for the olive rice which was served with thai style crispy fish, green curry with fried taukwa, mango salad and sauteed thai kailan. This set is good for solo diners who can try a few dishes from the a la carte menu at a price that is very easy on the pocket, with change left for $10. The olive rice was a little too mushy and bland for my liking, but scooping some of the green curry gravy over it enhanced the taste but made the rice even mushier. The thai style crispy fish was only mildly spicy, but the shredded mango salad packed a punch. The green curry lifted

Was looking for a value for money place to celebrate mummy's birthday and chose this place... i know i know.. i came here twice in a week! and managed to take pictures this time round. We ordered the family meal for 6 at $59, and added ala carte items- pandan chicken, fried platter and glutinous rice. I realised i missed out one picture of a plate of prawn.

Anyway food is good quality, huge quantity and tasty as usual, with very fast and efficient service! Let's look at a break down of the taste of the different dishes:

1. Tomyum soup- there are 2 options, the chilli paste and clear tomyum, we picked the clear one so the angmokia can tolerate it. lol. Anyway it had a lot of fresh seafood like fish and sotong and juicy prawn. =)

2. Mango salad is my favourite as usual! I think me alone finished half the medium plate! I think i can eat this salad for all my meals for a couple of days... lol..

3. Pandan chicken to me was so-so, it was grilled well but i didnt really taste or smell any pandan. Angmokia really liked this dish because of the crispy grilled skin of the chicken.. and for once even told me," if u don't want the skin you know who to give.."

4. Fried platter- it came with the prawn cakes(which was already included on our family set), otah fish cakes and fried tofu squares. Umm, as all fried platters.. nothing spectacular.

5. Chilli fish- included in the set menu.. to daddy and angmokia's delight, the really think it was a good deal-- fresh, tasty and super worth it! They let u choose how u wan the fish done, can be pepper, garlic and chilli.. so they recommended this..

6. Mango glutinuous- mango was sweet but my mum said that the rice is abit hard.. feels like the microwave it to heat it up. It has a surprisingly lack of desserts though.. would have tried red ruby of they had..

thats it! $110 to fill 6 very satisfied tummy!

Family set Meal B (3-4 pax)
1) Sweet and sour fish(whole fish)
2) Stir fry veg (cabbage & kailan)
3) Chicken stirfry with cashew nuts
4) tom yum soup with fresh squid, fish and prawns (4 person serving)
5) 4 steamed rice

We added a small mango salad(my favourite!) and a prawn omelette.

On top of that we had a drink each.
Really.. and the great thing is the portions are not frustratingly small.. to me the fish itself is the more value for money. =)

The desserts here are also very well done. The Red Ruby and Chendol was cold and refreshing, served with coconut milk.

But it is the Thai Ice Tea that was great in washing down the meal. It had a rich and strong tea flavour with milk added to it.

Will keep going back
