Jamie Oliver is one of the more popular chefs around. Though he may not be a culinary legend such as Ramsay, Tetsuya, Morimoto, and Puck, his shows has probably propelled him to be more of a celebrity than the ones that I have mentioned. So is Jamie's Italian a fantastic, filling, and excellent Italian restaurant? So is Jamie's Italian a fantastic, filling, and excellent Italian restaurant? No. Is it a flop? Of course not. So what is it? I would say its good food. The problem with celebrity chef restaurants is that the hype and expectation is so high that there is a big chance of guests expecting magical food to be presented to them. And here lies the problem with Jamie's Italian, its nothing fantastic and yet the price you pay makes you want to feel it is fantastic.
Meat Plank - $15: This is Jamie's take on meat cold cuts and had a piece of prosciutto, pistachio mortadella, bresaola, and spicy soppressata. It also had buffalo mozzarella, pecorino (with chilli jam) and beet root salad. This was actually yummy but my only angst was that it should had a bit more. Maybe 2 slices of each item?
Bread Basket - $6
Jamie's Italian Burger - $27.50
Wild Mushroom Ravioli - $16: I'm a fan of ravioli and I can say that this is good. But that is the issue, it was only good. I should be saying thinks like fantastic or mind blowing or even original but unfortunately its none of those. We should have order the risotto. The other table ordered it and it looked more interesting and appetizing.
