While I was in Tampines 1, I wonder why so many people crowding around this ice cream kiosk. Hence, I decided to take a look. The staff was actually making fresh ice cream on the spot in a cake mixer and pouring some steaming nitrogen liquid into the machine, the ice cream came out. Since the menu board put 100% original, no artificial ingredients, I decided to order the single scoop cup Strawberry flavour at $5.90. I was kind of disappointed that my Strawberry flavour ice cream was already made and there was no show to see. The Strawberry Ice Cream tasted creamy, sweet and not sourish. There was strawberry seeds in the ice cream but there was no strawberry fruit, I guessed the strawberry was blended into juice before making the ice cream.Overall, the Strawberry Ice Cream tasted good but the price of $5.90 was slightly high for a small scoop serving cup.  continue reading

Ever since this outlet open at the basement of Tampines 1, it attracted much attention and you can see a lot of people crowding around to watch the staff make the icecream. This icecream shop is different from the rest as they make the icecream from scratch! First, they will put the cream in the ice cream maker. Next, they will pour in a liquid (liquid nitrogen) from a huge tank, and very thick mists will form and rise up all over. After awhile, the icecream is ready! My friend told me about Qoo selling Just Like It vouchers at half the price! I purchased 2 e-tickets and happily went to claim it. I chose the Durian Durian and New Popcorn flavour. Both are signature flavours which require a top-up of $1 as my e-ticket is for the regular flavoured ones. There is an option to dine-in and we were served with 2 huge bowls. Well, only the bowl is huge, the icecream is the normal serving size. The first few mouthfuls of the durian durian tasted yummy and I can really taste the durian flavour. The new popcorn paled in comparison to the durian one and I expected a more caramel taste to it but there was none. I also felt there were too much popcorns inside the icecream. Both icecream tasted very light. For me, I prefer a much stronger thicker type of icecream. At the usual price of $5.90 for regular and $6.90 for signature flavoured ones, it is pretty pricey and not worth it. continue reading

Since we're at Tampines1, we went over to Just Like it! for some ice-cream after the meal at Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert. This time, the cashier (manager I supposed) asked if I wanna dine in or take-away. I remember Wendy telling me the bowl is huge, I decided to dine in to check out how huge is the bowl!Tada~~~ that's how huge the bowl is! I tried the Chill Mint Chocolate Cookies. I was expecting it to come with chocolate chips but it was accompanied with oreo cookie bites. Not what I expected, but the mint ice-cream is pretty cooling; nice. One more huge bowl w/a regular scope of Flaky Chocolate. A little rough on the texture cos the chocolate shavings. Not very chocolaty also. I still prefer the Durian flavor ice-creamWe were siting near quite near the entrance of the store & it attracts alot of curious shoppers to our table checking out the huge bowl. The 2 colleagues with me; Aunty says thee bowl is too exaggerating; 笑到见牙不见眼。。哈哈 continue reading

Just when the market is becoming saturated with gelato stores, 'Just Like It' hits our shore and redefines ice cream in a truly revolutionary way (as the store's tag line puts it 'A Revolutionary F & B!'). The interesting part of the dining experience is watching the servers clad in white lab coats, pouring in a flask of ingredient (the flask is what you would have probably seen in a chemistry class) into the mixer and adding in liquid nitrogen (which comes out with thick white smoke), resulting in several seconds of fog while the ice cream hardens. I had the chill mint chocolate flavour which is rather light in taste. The price of a scoop of regular size ice cream ranges from $5.90-$6.90. It costs $5.90 for chill mint chocolate or $6.90 for the signature flavours like Durian or New Popcorn. There is nothing to rave about the taste though I will consider going back a second time to watch the fun ice cream making process all over again. continue reading
