I've always wanted to try this stall as I've often seen people queuing up here. Today is too hot a day for me to try out laksa though, so I'll tried the mushroom minced meat noodles instead. It was really interesting to witness a side show of acrobatics while in the queue. The man in charge of preparing the noodles kept throwing his soup ladle up into the air every now and then and catching it back with a flourish. When he blanches the noodles in the hot water, he does it with a slight shaking of his booty, as if dancing to his own internal beat. I didn't wanna stare at him for too long for fear of being a bit rude LOL. Anyway, he seemed to enjoy himself while cooking the noodles Ok, back to the actual food review. Hmmm, the soup that goes along with the noodles is just regular msg soup with a bit of minced meat taste to it - nothing too fancy, just the usual stuff. I was shocked to see so much chili in my bowl but luckily it just looks scary, the chili is not too hot. The flavoring is not bad, with quite a lot of vinegar and chili added, although I think it's a bit heavy on the taste buds. There's one meatball, minced pork, pork liver, lean pork slices and mushroom slices (a bit bland, not braised enough for the taste to permeate the mushrooms. Ok, I'm being a bit particular) for the ingredients. Noodles themselves are cooked ok, not too soft and with no floury aftertaste. But for $2.50 a bowl, it's still alright to try if you are craving for minced meat noodles and die-die must have it. continue reading
