Recently, i had an Emily (Champagne mousse with Wild Strawberry centre, contains alcohol) and a Pink Peach Souffle. The Emily is so dainty-like and pretty, with its outer layer covered in a very thin coating of melty red-coloured chocolate (at least that is how it taste to me). Together with the champagne mousse and strawberry jelly-like centre, it is really refreshing and great for a light after-meal dessert. Initially, i assumed the cake layer at the bottom of the cake was just ordinary sponge cake just like any other japanese dessert. However, i was pleasantly surprises that it was actually an almond sponge layer, and i can really taste and bit into some almond meals in it. This really adds to how much the chef care about every detail of his cakes.

Another very popular cake at KKI is their souffle cheesecake, which is very light and good for people who doesn't like rich dense new york style cheesecake. I was lucky to get their Pink Peach souffle cheesecake that day. Thier cakes has a hint of peach fragrance and taste, though i would prefer a stronger peach taste. However, it is still very tasty! The coating of icing sugar on top adds to its melt-in-your-mouth texture!

Its difficult to choose a favourite as i love all of their cakes. There isnt one that i dont like. And i love the whip cream which is only beaten when you ordered that particular cake which i cant remember what's the name.

Looking forward to their Royal milk tea soufflé cheese cake which is coming out in December!

Being our first time there, the staff was very helpful and explained the components in each cake so that we could decide on what we wanted.

Our first pick was The Little Red Riding Hood, which comprises of 70% dark Valrhona chocolate mousse cake with a raspberry centre. I thought it was rich yet light and smooth at the same time. This would sit well with chocolate fans.

Our second pick was Emily, a champagne mousse cake with a strawberry centre. I was intrigued by its description but disappointed with the actual taste. I felt that the flavours did not really blend well together, leaving a slightly odd after taste on the palates. The mousse was overly soft, which was something I did not really enjoy as well as it felt like I was only having flavored whipped cream.

A nice place to chill out, but perhaps only once just for the experience. The items failed to impress, perhaps due to the high expectations that were pegged to the place.

The young lady was polite and soft spoken. Her smile was as sweet as the cakes! (I have not tried the cakes yet, LOL) I ordered this dome chocolate cake which tasted really heavenly. Before I took my time enjoying every bite of it, I spammed quite a few shots as the lighting was rather compromising as I sat outdoors. She gave me a glass of water too. We are also allowed
to pay after we have eaten. What a perfect looking dome! It looks too nice and cute to be eaten. I was rather reluctant to take the first bite that would spoil the perfection. Finally tried it. So creamy and sweet. Felt the sponge and crunch inside. I took my time savouring this piece of joy. By the way, there is the little drom store which shares the same shop space as k-ki. It sells many knick-knacks.

I fell in love with K Ki the moment I stepped in. It’s cosy, neat and simple. Somehow, I find that the wooden furniture gives the place a very nice, rustic feel and it makes one feel at ease immediately. Absolutely nothing pretentious here. I will definitely go back and try the Strawberry Tart, Mont Blanc, Mona, and everything else that I can get my hands on

So if you are planning to propose with a cake from K.ki, make sure you work out your timings right!

Nonetheless, despite his plans failing, I had to check out for myself what this cake place is all about! Since I worked near Ang Siang Hill, I dropped by the shop one day after lunch for a piece of cake. I wasn't able to eat there so had to take the cake away. Just looking at the way they pack the cake, the attention to detail, the little dry ice pack for my tiny cake, you know these people love their cake.

I spoke with the lady boss (aka the baker's wife), Delphine, and it's really easy to see that the k.ki folks really care about their cakes. There can only be that many cakes made each day and they care more about the quality of their masterpiece than making a few extra buck.

There is only one word to describe the taste of their cakes. EXCITING. At least the little red riding hood which is a raspberry centred chocolate mousse cake covered by a dark chocolate exterior. It's tangy and bitter and sweet and light at the same time. It is a complex cake that makes you anticipate what you're in for next.

Mind you they are closed on Mondays so don't make a wasted trip like I did!

I came to the shop about 6pm and they only had a few cakes left. So i bought a Mont Blanc instead. The outer layer tasted kind of unique as its made of coconut. However the sponge cake and crust at the bottom of the cake was fab.

Hope i'm able to get Dumo next time! Or Maya also can! Both looks so yummy! !

Though the store is really small and their display looks a bit too boring, their cakes and its taste are a miracle.

The ones I've tried and tested for all choco lovers should be Little Red Riding Hood! I'd bring this for my mom, as this is made by 70% dark chocolate. Talk about ultra bitter, and burning the fat (and other healthy impact made by dark chocolate to our body) with the smooth mousse. I'm a mousse lover, so the creamy but mixed light to give a light filling for more air was just perfect. I'm not a fan of any fruits, but since this would be much bitter to most people, the raspberry layer inside provided the balance of sweetness, like wine and steak. Ooooh lala, you must take your red coat down to ann siang hill and order this!

Prices although are really unfriendly (to well, my student pocket) I guess it does pay offbecuse f othe quality of the ingredients. Where else that serves 70% - not 50%! - of dark chocolate goodness?

Petite little cakes, each and every a delicate, perfectly assembled beauty, sitting in straight rows in the display. I had a lot of trouble deciding which to have, but I eventually settled on the Mont Blanc ($8.50).

Swirled with silky and pure chestnut puree on top of pillowy fresh cream, resting atop a sponge layer and a crumbly tart base; this Month Blanc was a very refined creation. There were bits of treasure hiding in the cream- delightful chestnut chunks!

Crumbly and buttery, K Ki's sables ($14 for a pack of 12) were really good. The coconut ones impressed with their crisp bite, but it's the lovely earthy flavor of the chocolate hazelnut ones that I'm really enamored with. Sublime!ee on top of pillowy fresh cream, resting atop a sponge layer and a crumbly tart base; this Month Blanc was a very refined creation. K-ki's Antoinette ($8) is like a white chocolate and mango molten lava cake. My friend from UK likes the taste of mango so this ain't exotic to him at all. Me? I always love An. Move over chocolate molten lava cake.

The only complaint I have about K-ki is my fave Mont Blanc is forever so difficult to buy. We were told it's an hour wait to Mont Blanc so we ordered the Cafe Dumo ($8) instead. My friend was impressed by the layers of differing texture and taste in this coffee-based cake. To him, the cake scene in Singapore is much more exciting than back home. All thanks to K-Ki.
