What's so brilliant about this sushi? EVERYTHING ON IT IS GOOD!! The orange sweet sauce brings out the freshness of the salmon. The rice is wrapped nicely that you can eat it in one mouth! Arggggg, talking about it makes me want to get a piece now.

oh yeah! They have two different types of maki; 1st gen and 2nd gen. 1st gen comes with eel while 2nd gen comes with fried ebi. Personally i like the one with ebi more but the 1st taste good as well !

I mean Shiok Maki is definitely a must try at least ONCE IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE despite the long Q sometimes!
It will be much smarter to make reservation beforehand at 91803850. It will save a lot of waiting time and hassle!

Oh yeahhhh, maybe you could grab any of your friends who have passion card or sakura members to get 10% off ! I mean who doesn't want to save money !

I have been hearing a lot about the legendary shiok makis served here and was eager to try first hand to see if it lives up to its hype. I arrived at about 4pm- non peak time to skip the long queues that will eventually form outside of the restaurant. I wanted to try both generations of Shiok maki and the waitress told me I was able to order half of each to form 1 serving although I had to pay more (about $18). I wanted to try both generations of Shiok maki and the waitress told me I was able to order half of each to form 1 serving although I had to pay more (about $18). The difference is essentially the ingredients used- gen1 has grilled eel wrapped with lightly roasted salmon whereas gen 2 has crispy prawn wrapped on salmon. The secret is in the special yellow sauce they use which is so flavorful and addictive. It pairs very well with the sushi roll and ingredients. Dollops of fish roe top the sushi, which adds additional crunch and flavour. The sushi roll definitely lives up to its name- the shiok factor is definitely high with each bite.

The shiok maki is a must try!! Fell in love with it the first time I tried. Kind of ' melt ' in your mouth. Ordered the pork sukiyaki and the soup is sooo good! Other than that. We ordered the salmon belly soup. A light soup with great flavor!   The sashimi there is really fresh as well. As we went after the lunch hour and there is only 2 of us. We did not have to queue for long. Definitely is a must try!

And because you might not know what to order, based on my visit experiences, I shall recommend the following...

Unsweetened Iced Green Tea ($1.50) - With all the strong flavorful food, I prefer something that will cleanse my taste buds.

Salmon Sashimi ($8, 5 slices) - I wouldn't shout a loud "so fresh". But it would not be an exaggeration to say that the sashimi here is fresher than many sushi restaurants.

Shiok Sushi ($6 per piece) - A mouth size sushi with aburi salmon. Basically, a mini version of the shiok maki with a larger slice of salmon wrapped around the sushi.

Shirane Tofu ($8) - Fried tofu with crispy fish skin. The generous amount of sauce did not dampen the crispiness of the tofu and fish skin. The combination was so interesting and by interesting, I meant it in a weird way, but it was surprisingly delicious and refreshing. I like it.

Foie Gras Maki ($28) - Foie gras sushi roll wrapped with aburi swordfish is the BEST maki I had in Koh Grill & Sushi Bar.

Shiok Maki 2nd Generation ($16.80) - Crispy prawn sushi roll wrapped with aburi salmon is better that the original 1st generation, in my opinion. Or maybe because I prefer prawn to eel. Heehee...

Crabby Maki ($18) - Crispy soft-shell crab and seaweed sushi roll wrapped with seared swordfish belly is a must-try if you love soft-shell crab. I like that it is not oily and the crisp remained even after being left on the table while I was busy snapping photos of other dishes.

Tempura Moriawase Special ($15) - Comprises prawns, squid, eggplant, pumpkin, and soft-shell crab tempura. It would be too much and too heavy for one person. The menu also stated that it is ideal for two persons. The batter is light, thus the outer is very crispy. I like the tempura dipping sauce which added flavor to the rather plain tempura.

Grilled Salmon Skin / Shake Kawa ($4) - This is different from the common fried salmon skin. As it is grilled, there's almost no oiliness in the dish. It is lightly salted and I enjoyed it as much as I enjoy potato chips! Maybe they could rename it as Grilled Salmon Chips. Hahahaa..

Asparagus Pork Belly Maki ($3 per stick) - I'm being biased. It's one of my favorite grilled items. Hahahaa...

Beef Fillet ($12) - Comparable to what is served at The Sushi Bar (Far East Plaza) but I'll prefer the beef fillet at Koh Grill & Sushi Bar because of the sauce that comes with it. The sauce is the key that made the beef fillet so delicious. The waitress questioned me in disbelief when I ordered two of this.

The Shiok Maki at Koh's Grill and Sushi Bar is rather interesting It comes with prawns or unagi, and avocado, cucumber, and topped with flying fish roe and melted cheese. I also had the beef sukiyaki. It was not too bad, only that the soup was a little too sweet for my liking. Also, they threw all meat in before serving, so my meet was either over cooked, or cold as I had to take it out quickly before it got overcooked, instead of cooking it as I ate. I would say I have tasted better.

i was really super satisfied after that. *pats tummy* and i was really pleasantly surprised that i didn't feel SUPER full after that, despite all the rice i ate! we had 8 pieces of maki each!

so generation 1 ($16.80) was a combination of charcoal grilled eel wrapped in a lightly roasted salmon. #1 thing i LOVE about shiok maki is the sauce. the abundance of it! and its creaminess and yumminess and everything about it that makes me just want to mop it up with anything on the plate. i even ate the ginger (which i usually don't) because i just wanted to dip it in the sauce. sinful? probably. but i couldn't care less. for me, what stood out about the gen 1 shiok maki was the lovely aroma of the grill that emanated from the sushi and caressed my taste buds. it was sooo delicious, a total mouthgasm experience ^^ i could only squeal with happiness throughout the whole meal haha.

for generation 2 ($16.80), it was a crispy prawn wrapped with lightly roasted salmon. what was different about this maki, besides the ingredients, was its sauce! it has a tinge of sweetness, that kinda melts on your tongue as you savour it in your mouth. i didn't want to swallow my maki. it was SO.GOOD. haha i wanted it to stay in my mouth forever as i basked in the joy of eating it
)) haha. this totally doesn't really sound like food anymore right? i've heard reviews about its quality deteriorating, but now, typing this, im just relishing the memory of the shiokness again and i couldn't wish for more :')

i'm definitely going to come back again!! to try the crappy maki which we originally ordered and never received -.- their service staff seem a little blur... O.o after we asked for they bill, they delivered another plate of sushi to us and we were like "huh??!!" haha. i would have gladly taken it if it was free
teehee. but yep will come back for the crappy maki ;) and maybe the pitan maki since i heard it was good too?

We finally got a seat after maybe around 20 minutes. Because we were still quite full from the burger, we just got a serving of the Shiok Maki, but a mix of the 2 generations. We also got the Pitan Tofu just to give it a try.

The pitan tofu came first and although it looked quite scary initially, it was actually pretty nice! I expected the dish to have a strong century egg smell but it was just nice! There was a good balance, and the tofu was really nice and silky.

The shiok maki came not long later, and i really felt a great sense of comfort as i put a piece of it into my mouth. Not only was the sauce really creamy, it went really well with both the eel and the ebi! This shiok maki is really as good as everyone has mentioned it to be.

The textures were amazing, my mouth was in heaven. The first bite was insanely good. The hype surrounding this dish is really worth it! I also tried the yakitori, the sauce was quite good. The yaki udon was served hot and right off the griddle. Being a fan of udon, I loved the flavours and springy feeling of the udon. Thumbs up I definitely recommend the pitan tofu too! The tofu was simple but the flavours were exciting. The different elements in the dish came together really well! OISHI!

This plate of premium sushi really makes my day, and really thankful to my friend who has treated me. Inside is filled with generous amount of avocado which are very crunchy and fresh. The Japanese rice used is very fragrant and firm in texture. The seaweed rolls inside is chewy and not too dry. At $16.80 per plate, is expensive but yummy. Restaurant is comfortable with beautiful Japanese decoration around it. Service is very prompt and friendly too.

k!!! Maki ($16. They have two versions of the Shiok!!! Maki, but we had the first generation, which is combination of charcoal grilled eel wrapped with lightly roasted salmon. Roe was not the best I had, but overall this is still one dish that I could not stop with just a quantity of one... The second generation which we gave a miss, is actually replacing eel with crispy prawns.

Here's the view from the counter seat. The man in this picture seems to be the one mainly dealing with the sushi, sashimi and maki orders. No wonder it takes a long time for food to come with only one shifu (master) at the deck. This spot is also a temptation zone - look at all those delectable raw fish! Drools!

Our first dish was a plate of Salmon Sashimi ($8) and it was divine! These thick succulent slices of salmon with gorgeous marbling are super meaty and fresh! It practically melted in my mouth. A very good start to the meal and you'll be fighting for that last slice on the plate.

I think this is called the Sake Aburi ($4.20) and it's basically torched or seared Salmon topped with small fish roes. This is really addictive! The salmon has a good fatty quality to it so the meat just melts in your mouth with an almost smooth buttery taste. The fish roe gives it that pop of saltiness and texture (as they literally will pop in your mouth) and I would definitely recommend this dish if you're heading here.

We had 2 makis for lunch. This one is the Crappy Maki ($18). Yes that really is the name, I'm not trying to be funny. Hehe! It's crispy soft-shell crab and seaweed wrapped with seared swordfish belly. I like this dish as the crunchy crab plays off nicely with the soft oily swordfish, however it does slightly overwhelm the taste of the swordfish as it is a pretty light flavour fish. The swordfish itself is really fresh and delicious when eaten by itself. It's hard to bite this in half as all the ingredients will start to fall apart so take it all in one bite people! You get the full melody of all the ingredients.

Now the main star of the show - The Shiok Maki ($16.80). I love the name because it's so Singapore-esque. There are 2 types of Shiok Maki - Generation 1 and Generation 2. I think Gen 1 uses eel whereas Gen 2 uses prawns. But since most of the reviews I've read recommended the Gen 1, that's what I ordered. When it first arrived, I stared at it in awe because look at all that gooey oozing cheese! And those sexy scorched marks. I'm a bigggg sucker for melted cheese like this. The inside of the maki consists of charcoal grilled eel wrapped with lightly roasted salmon and covered with that cheese. I believe I tasted mentaiko as well which makes everything taste 10x better! Okay, I know some people complain that the taste of the cheese overwhelms the taste of the eel and salmon. Partially, I do agree. Because the cheese is quite strong, you can lose the salmon and eel flavour especially for those portion that has more cheese on it.

But hey, if you're a melted cheese fan like me, you'll overlook that. I savoured and enjoyed every bite and was sopping up the bits of "stray" cheese with the remaining rice.

But the downside is we had to wait nearly an hour for the Shiok Maki! That's pretty crazy considering if you are rushing for time! So go if you have time to spare and make a reservation in advance. Conveniently located at the level of Wisma Food Court, it's a good place to drop by for a bite after shopping!

Shiok maki!! I have been hearing about its awesomeness for ages! The queue is really long though. Me and my friend were lucky enough to bypass the long queue as we had reserved beforehand. The shiok maki is delicious! It's come in a set of 8 pieces for about $16! The sauce is awesome too! Really good! The tastiness of the eel resides in your mouth and makes you want to get another bite!

This stall does not seem amazingly good from the exterior, but i was pleasantly surprised by the quality and freshness of the food. The sushis are good, compared to other mass market sushi chains and the portion is sufficient as well (at least for me). Would recommend this salmon sushi topped with fish roe. The sushi goes well with the creamy sauce and the fish roe, making it a delightful dish.
