Before the Ghim Moh Hawker Centre went for major renovation, I went to try the Kong Shang Hua Wonton Noodle which had a long queue in the morning. The Wanton Mee cost $2.50 and the serving portion looked good. The Wanton Mee was old school traditional type without any special homemade sauce. I ordered a dry version with no chili and only tomato sauce was added.  The noodle was egg type mee kia, it was slightly springy without the akaline aftertaste. The tomato sauce gave the wanton mee a sweet and tangy taste. The char siew was lean and the wanton was meaty with crushed dried fish taste.Overall, I felt that the wanton mee tasted average, it would be better if they use a savoury soya based sauce. continue reading

Had the wonton mee here for breakfast on a weekend morning. Noodles were cooked perfectly being nicely al dente and springly. The sauce was flavorful and savory which complemented the noodles nicely. Dumplings were silky smooth and the char siew has a nice smoky flavour being sweet and salty at the same time! The whole dish came together nicely and for only 2.50 this was an affordable delicious breakfast! continue reading

Ummm....Yum....Yum....Too bad I cannot add or replicate fragrances in my reviews.Whenever I buy noodles from this stall, the waft of the fragrant sesame oil in its sauce makes me salivate even before I can settle comfortably down to eat.Though I know some people do not like too much sesame oil in their food as it may overpower the rest of the flavours, this stall does it just right. The mushrooms for the shredded chicken noodles have been braised sufficently to let all the flavours of the sesame oil, dark sauces and secret ingredients to be infused. The wanton noodles come with both fried and soup wantons. The noodles are softer than other wanton noodle stalls but it is definitely not soggy and does not have a heavy 'kee' taste. The cost of the noodles has just recently gone up to $2.50 but it was kept at $2 for as long as I can remember. continue reading
