This was my first time coming to manbok and it was full with people. we have to wait for half an hour to get a seat. So people do remember to make reservation if you are coming to this place. We ordered set b in the menu, which include 5mm of sliced pork belly, 2mm of sliced pork belly, marinated pork rib, and marinated chicken. This set cost SGD $49++The pork belly is quite hard to chew on, not as tasty as pork belly from superstar k and ju shin jung. however both the marinated pork rib and marinated chicken are very nice and tasty. We also ordered a kimchi soup which is pretty decent but a bit too spicy.Total bill came up to be $70. Will not be returning back to this place as there are much better korean bbq restaurants around and it is not very cheap here too. continue reading

We had wanted to try out 2 Days 1 Night Soju Bang along Tanjong Pagar Road for lunch yesterday, but to our dismay it was closed! So no choice we decided to settle for another Korean restaurant down the road - Korean BBQ Restaurant Manbok Galbi.Tanjong Pagar Road was pretty deserted on a non-working day lunchtime & there was no customer at all at Manbok when we went in! Nonetheless, as it was 12+pm and we were already hungry, we decided to just try our luck (a Korean guy who also seemed to be looking around for some Korean lunch followed us in too haha). We didn't really think too hard on what to eat, as I had already been craving for Army Stew ($35+) haha. Here's how it looks:The stew colour looked a bit diluted, & true enough, it was. -_-" Somehow not much "kick" in the stew which could have been more spicy. But one thing good was they were generous with the ingredients, a lot of spam, sausages, ramen & even pork belly! First time that we see pork belly in this dish though, felt a bit funny hehe. The side dishes were also not anything to wow about. We still prefer the Army Stew from Seoul Yummy. Kko Kko Nara Army Stew is also better than this. ;)In general, I think this is basically a restaurant that is like a small family eatery in Korea, the food is ok but not fantastic, just like normal home cooked food. Probably if you are just looking at filling an empty stomach this is quite a reasonable Korean restaurant to visit. We won't make the effort to go down all the way to satisfy our cravings for Korean food here. continue reading
