Signature Dishes
La Taperia was one of the many restaurants under the Les Amis group. It offered spanish cuisine, different from the other sister restaurants.Although dim in lighting, the restaurant had a warm and cozy feel, which attracted a number of family style diners here. The staffs here were friendly and easy going. The restaurant offered 3-course lunch set at $35++. Recently I found that Maybank was offering a 1-for-1 set lunch promotion and decided to take up the offer. For appetisers, there were 10 choices available. We were served crusty baguette to go with it.Chef's Signature Style Gazpachowith Hass avocado, white tuna & quince jellyThe cold soup was thick and creamy, while tasting refreshing.Pan-Seared Duck Liver (topup $6++)with muscovado glazed Calanda peaches & mesclunThe duck liver were 2 huge slabs, which simply melt in the mouth. The peach was juicy sweet. And the mesclun was tossed in a refreshing sweet dressing. There were 8 choices to choose from for the Mains.Braised Lamb Shoulderwith tomatoes & artichokesThe lamb was fork tender and melt in the mouth, especially the fatty parts. It did not have the usual gamey taste nor the tough texture associated with lamb. It was filled with chunks of carrots, but did not see any artichoke in it.Seafood Saffron Noodle Paella (topup $10++)includes prawn, squid & crab meatIt was like well braised bee hoon, soaking up the flavours from the juicy scallops, prawns and squids, served in a hot pan.Desserts, there were 6 choices to select from.Orange Crema Caramelcustard & orange segmentSimple in look, but rich creamy orange taste.Churroswith cinnamon sugar & chocolate sauceThe churros was light and crisp, without too oily.Overall the food was delicious and full of flavours. Not wonder the place was packed even for a slow lazy lunch time.

See pictures at http://thehungrybunnie.blogspot.sg/2015/07/la-taperia.htmlThe atmosphere at La Taperia is lively and convivial; fantastic for winding down after a long week at work. The menu is conservatively traditional, but extensive in variety, and absolutely scrumptious. Be sure to make reservations though, the restaurant is always a buzzy full-house whenever I pop by for dinner. We had:1) Champinones con Jamon al Ajillo ($16): white button mushrooms sauteed in extra virgin olive oil, sprinkled with garlic slivers, speckled with jamon serrano, was topped off by an organic egg confit. Absolutely must-try.2) Huevos Estrellados con Patatas Paja, Chorizo, Pimiento del Piquillo y Champinones ($18): a hodgepodge of eggs fried with iberico chorizo, piquillo red pepper, mushrooms, and straw potatoes - sublime.3) Salteado di Champinones ($8): mushrooms sauteed with extra virgin olive oil - earthy wholesome goodness.4) Gambas al Ajillo ($18): fat juicy prawns swimming in olive oil, crispy garlic and chilli flakes. Simplicity at its finest. Get bread to mop up the awesome olive oil.5) Pulpo a la Gallega ($22): excellent Galician-style octopus, and cooked to perfection, soft with a hint of bite.6) Croquetas de Jamon ($15): potato cutlets stuffed with suckling pig, bechamel and jamon iberico - creamy and balanced.7) Presa Iberica a la Parrilla ($24): charcoal-grilled iberian pork marinated in paprika and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil - luscious and meltingly tender, a must-try as well8) Chistorrado de Pollo Paella ($30): a sizzling griddle of rice dotted with sauteed chicken breast chunks, chistorra sausage, piquillo pepper and melty cheese - flavoursome and torched with just the perfect amount of smoky char

Formerly known as Terry, this was one place i really want to come and try out their food. Had one of my recent christmas meet up with a friend here and since we were not too hungry, we decided to just get 3 tapas to share. 1) GAMBAS AL AJILLO $18 - Prawn cooked with Garlic, Chilli and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Prawn was fresh and i really enjoyed the garlic bits together with it. Seems like nothing extraordinary but everything goes well together and most importantly ingredients are fresh.2) ROLLITO DE JAMÓN RELLENO DE CALAMAR $16 - Squid wrapped with Jamón Ibérico a la plancha served with fresh lime (4 pieces). This was quite interesting. First time i tried this combination and i like it. 3) Special of the day - White asparagus with scrambled egg drizzled with truffle oil $18. Another dish that is very well done! Simply yummy and i love it. I kind of like how their dishes gave a homely feel and the whole place is very cosy too even though it's not a big place. Definitely will be back again!
