I finally went to Le Chocolat Cafe after much deliberation - for the sake of their famous Rainbow Cake. The small boutique hotel was rather easy to locate on Ann Siang Hill, and the tiny cafe was done in clean, white shades with Neo-modern furniture. They do have many delectable looking pastries and cakes though, and I was at a loss of what to order. My colleague had already decided he wanted savoury item, leaving me to the sweeter aspects of this meal.I went for the Strawberry-Tofu Cake (SGD5.00) - a soft slab of sweet pastry with a chocolate topping and real strawberries. It was a little sweet, and the texture was a cross between meringue and marshmallows. The red gooey strawberry syrup sauce around the cake added a touch of color and sweetness to the already saccharine dessert. Now the long-awaited Rainbow Cake (SGD7.00) - I could almost smell its chiffony aroma as I am posting this picture now! This chocolate-coated delicacy was soft, and every melt-in-your-mouth layer was tasty. It was not too sweet, but retained a fragrance that was a cross between butter, chiffon and fruits amongst the rich flavor of cream. I loved it.My colleague and newfound friend had The Club Burger (SGD$19.00) - tender strips of smokey beef between crusty bread and served with crispy fries. He said it was a scrumptious burger. For more detailed information and photos, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/08/tea-break-at-le-chocolat-cafe-club-hotel.html continue reading

Remember the meme drooling rainbows? Inspired by the rainbow idea, comes the Rainbow Cake. Exclusively found in Le Chocolat Cafe, this small quaint cafe in a boutique hotel sells not only this unique cake but also several other very yummy-licious looking desserts. I decided to try out this famous rainbow cake of theirs, which costs around $7 per slice. Rich chocolate coating over the colourful layers of sponge cake really made my day It was not bad, quite tasty actually. However, Le Chocolat Cafe may want to consider giving a different flavour to each different coloured layer - just to make this cake more premium and exceed customers' expectations! continue reading

I made a trip down to Le Chocolat Cafe after seeing someone's fb post with this pretty looking rainbow cake. It may sound very strange, but because it's so pretty, I want to try it. Unfortunately, it was only pretty looking, the cake was dry and hard. It wasn't tasty in anyway. for $7 piece of cake, I had expected much more. But to be fair, Le Chocolate do serve very good chocolate cake. Therefore my advise is that if you visit them, just admire the rainbow cake from the display and go for their other cakes. continue reading

Really enjoy visiting this restaurant as the environment of it is quite and very comfortable. Most of the staffs here are very friendly and approachable. First time trying their rainbow cake and was not really happy with it. Other than the super nice and colourful appearance that impress me, the cake is abit too tough in texture and not much taste can be found from it. Morever, the price is high as well. continue reading

Looking for nice dessert around club street area after dinner.Spotted Le Chocolat cafe and was attracted by the 'Chocolat' on cafe's name.Rainbow Cake - nice looking and Unique but cake is too dry and no flavor at all, all you can taste is cream and the thin layer of chocolate ganache. The rest of the cakes we ordered is not fantastic as well, dry and crumbly; cheese wasn't smooth and the berries they use to decor the cake is not fresh. OVerall dining experience = continue reading
