I mentioned in another of my review that the same brand in the shrimp noodle shop (Le Shrimp Noodle) is very good.  So I start to get attention to this brand.  With such expectation in mind, I can't say how disappointed we were.  First, the essence of beef noodle (which is a traditional food from Taiwan) is the SOUP.  And sorry, the soup here is no taste.  This was a sharp contrast to the good taste shrimp soup in their another brand. Moreover very typically, Taiwanese noodle should come with some preserved sour vegetable.  There was none here, which tells me this is not a very authentic Taiwanese style shop. continue reading

LeNu is one of the latest ventures by Paradise group specialising in Taiwanese Beef Noodle.Moving the lens into the interior dining area, the setup is rather rustic with part of the walls in concrete and the 4 Essences from LENU are well emphasize on the wall with sprayed paint while having squares top hanged crate cover alike with track lights mounted. Looks pretty cool ya!A bowl of good beef noodle was identified by the 4 essences and LeNu has them greatly emphasize on the wall as well as printed on the serviettes. Soup broth is done based on the authentic taste of braised beef, premium well-marinated beef, their speciality noodles and not forgetting their secret dipping sauce.Choices of soup and noodles can be made upon ordering with selections fromSoup1) Authentic Braised Beef Soup(2) Braised Beef Soup with Pickled Cabbage(3) Hot & Spicy Braised Beef SoupNoodles1) Broad Noodles(2) Thin Noodles(3) Rice Noodle aka Hor FunThe authentic braised beef broth is said to have no MSG added, on top of that it requires 18 hours in making of the braised beef broth using the freshest beef marrow, bones and a variety of high-grade ingredients.Bowl was large and portion was alright. However, it makes an impression that portion is rather little with food half fill the large bowl. I had rice noodle to go along with my bowl of braised beef brisket noodle. Ipoh size Hor Fun was used here. Meat was braised to fork tender and broth was delicious though I find them quite oily and a tad salty. The style of beef noodle make me recall of Taiwan famous "Man Han" instant Noodles. I had also tried their special dipping sauce, it tasted of a mixture of fermented beans and sweet sauce, its good to have a little dab onto the meat, too much of it causes saltiness too.Having ordered the broad noodles in the beef combination noodles,it totally reminds me of "Ban Mian" (handmade noodles). We have pickles added in Beef combination Noodles and beef briskets, beef tendon as well as beef shanks were added. TThey were cooked to softness and especially its tendon, it came in a huge chewy bite. For those who are seeking for the traditional Taiwanese beef noodles, you will appreciate it as the taste is pretty close to what I had in Taiwan. However, I'm more bias towards the Vietnamese Beef Noodles style, thus this doesnt really float my boat. Review from http://www.umakemehungry.com/2014/12/lenu.html continue reading

Lenu (樂牛) is a restaurant opened by the Paradise Group, and I'm here to review it! With high expectations after some good meals at other Paradise Group Restaurants, I was hoping to get a real taste of Taiwan Beef Noodle Soup. LeNu literally means 'Happy Cow' in Mandarin. It's cute, I guess. Haha.Wide variety of beef noodle choicesMake your selection! We were shown to our seats and a menu was given to us, as well as an order form. I have to say that I'm not too fond of filling up order forms, so with my order in mind, I went straight to the counter, which is what you'll have to do anyway after filling up the form.Top ups are available at a costly price, which I didn't take up!Right beside the counter, some appetizers are on display and customers would just need to select what they want and pay for it at the counter. The SurroundingsThe 4 Essences (winning formula) for Lenu are shown on the walls. My friend ordered the dry version of the Braised Beef Brisket Noodles ($10.90) and I ordered the Braised Wagyu Beef Noodles ($16.90).Dry Version of Braised Beef Brisket NoodlesAfter mixing the noodles, you are ready to start! The noodles tasted so-so, but the beef is really tender. In my opinion, I felt the noodles could be more springy, it felt like it was neither here nor there. The dry noodles version are nice!My turn!Braised Wagyu Beef Noodles (they really like putting a huge scoop of spring onions in every bowl of noodles huh!)There are 3 types of noodles available for choosing: Thin Noodles, Broad Noodles and Rice Noodles (exclusive to Singapore only). Of course, I would try the rice noodles. It turned out to be the really thin kway teow type noodles, but I did enjoy it as the noodles were quite well cooked.I felt the wagyu beef was quite an expensive addition though. While the thinly sliced beef were easy to eat, but I felt I would have enjoyed it as much as if I were to have the normal beef slices. The soup is also a make-it-or-break-it factor for me, so I would have to say that it managed to be comforting for my tummy, but doesn't have the oomph factor. It's pretty much average, though the broth is light and doesn't taste too salty. (It is oily, though!)In summary, I felt that although it was a comforting warm meal, but the taste lacks punch to make it stand out from other soupy meals competitors.Location: Vivocity, 1 Harbourfront Walk, #02-91/92/93, Singapore 098585 (Opposite Ben & Jerry's)Tel: +65 63769039Visit their Facebook and Website to find out more.Nearest MRT: HarbourFront MRT Station (Circle Line (Orange), NE Line (Purple))My Ratings (the higher the score, the better it is!)Food: 3 / 5Ambience: 3.2 / 5Bang for your buck (Value): 3 / 5Service: 3 / 5Average scoring via my F.A.B.S rating: 3.05 / 5 continue reading

For pictures and full review, pls visit:http://madamechewy.com/2014/06/18/lenu/Paradise Group has gone from gone from strength to strength, opening a number of new outlets in recent months. Hubby and I visited LeNu (literally means “happy cow”) on a Saturday to try their Taiwanese braised beef noodles. The concept is frills-free casual dining; tick off the items you want on order sheet, then proceed the cashier for payment. Noodles will be served to your table. We started our meal with some refreshing appetizers.Chilled silken tofu with century egg ($2.90) was well-executed- delicately soft, silky tofu with a lovely combi of sweet and sour flavors. Seconds please!I wasn’t too fond of the Chilled Cucumbers ($2.90), as I found them too sweet.Since I have not travelled to Taiwan, I have no idea how LeNu’s offerings stack up to Taiwan’s iconic street dish. LeNu works on 4 “Jin” (essence), in the pursuit of perfecting authentic braised beef noodles- the broth, specialty noodles, premium beef cuts and signature dipping sauce. On every table, there is a pot of homemade dipping sauce (I believe it’s made from fermented beans), freshly prepared every morning. The sauce is meant to elevate the taste and richness of the premium beef; however, we were taken aback by its saltiness.Braised Wagyu Beef Noodles ($16.90), with fork-tender slices of beef. You can choose from authentic braised beef soup, braised beef soup with pickled cabbage, hot and spicy braised beef soup. The broth is flavorful and robust, bursting with beefy goodness, all thanks to the 18 hours of simmering. We preferred the Hot and Spicy Braised beef soup and Broad noodles over the Authentic Braised beef soup with thin noodles ($6.90). If you’d like more bite, go for the broad noodles; the thin noodles were soft and only slightly springy. continue reading

The menuSignage a bit confusing if the name is LeNu or Taiwan Beef bowlThe dipping sauce, but at the end no need to add it to your bowl of noodle. Except if your singapore or malaysian who always have to dunk to much chili in their foodchoice of noodle : thin, broad or hofan. Actually hofan is not the base choice for beef noodleBraise beef in thin noodle Braise beef with broad noodle belowmy mom order of beef shank noodle and look how thick the cut is but they are super tender continue reading
