We were on the lookout for pancake places in Singapore when we chanced upon Little Pancakes, a little shop on the ground level of an apartment along Upper Thomson Road. To be honest, it was the cute pancake pictures that attracted us. Big Fan Of All Day Breakfast

What a mouthful! The name of the dish, that is. And it came with ten mini pancakes (side of syrup), scrambled eggs, a couple of mini sausages, potato salad and greens. The pancakes were soft with a little fluffiness and mildly sweet. Being snack sized, there was no issue of the flour being undercooked in the middle but I would have liked the accompanying syrup to be a tad thicker (tasted very similar to the hotcake syrup from McD). As for the scrambled eggs, it also tasted similar to what the golden arches serve albeit a little more moist while the sausages were well, your off the rack sausages. If that's insufficient, the creamy potato salad will fill you up real fast! Pretty decent.

Chick & Cheesy

This was essentially two layers of cheese sandwiched between two mini pancakes and topped off with mini sausage. Pretty decent and something that might appeal to your inner child. The only difference between this and the All Day Breakfast is the cheese, which comes in lieu of the scrambled eggs. Personal preference really but do note that this is slightly cheaper.

Brunch for 3pax with drinks cost just over $41, which is relatively reasonable given that there is no service charge or GST. Food quality is decent (pancakes are above average) and miles better than Batter Fluffy Flaps in my humble opinion. Worth a stop if you are in the area but I wouldn't make a trip specially to eat here.

The place is quite small. Pictures decorated on the black colored walls. Remember to collect the cutlery and water at the counter at the back of the cafe. The cafe has toilet at the back which is shared with the next door thai food restaurant.

Big Fan of All Day Breakfast ($10.90)
The first and most important meal of the day! Prefect for brunch. A set of pancakes, scrambled eggs, special glazed sausages, potato salad and greens.
The mini looking pancakes taste not bad on their own. Topped with a bit of butter and honey, it is actually quite nice. The cocktail sized sausages do not taste glazed to me. They taste like just boiled in water. The potato salad lacks of the potato texture and taste. Towards the end, I think I taste more of hard boiled egg in it. The topping of bacon bits looks the bottled type from supermarket and lacks of the real bacon's taste. Instead it give a out of place taste and texture. The greens is actually shredded lettuce and cherry tomatoes, topped with Thousand Island dressing. The scrambled eggs is the worst here. Firstly it is overcooked and quite dry. Secondly it is topped with an overdose of black pepper. It just tastes of black pepper and lacks of the creamy texture commonly found in scrambled eggs. I suspect that the scrambled eggs is made of plain eggs scrambled, lacking of butter and cream in it.

Overall I am quite disappointed with my meal here. No wonder there is no much customers around.

I got myself the Mr Bean turns Red ($8.50); pretty cute a name for a pancake. It is an Asian flavour that mixes Japanese tastes into the dollar pancakes by serving Green Tea ice-cream and Azuki beans at the side. The Dollar Pancakes were pretty impressive; thick it might seem but surprisingly light, fluffy and served warm; its just uplifting to have. The Azuki beans were sufficiently sweet, and the Green Tea ice-cream though melted a bit too quickly was thick and rich; packed with bitter Matcha goodness. Combine all of them together and all you get is a harmonious blend of sweetness, bitterness and the fragrance of the batter of freshly-made pancakes; pretty comforting.

To think that I had no idea why my dining partner settled on the Simple & Sweet ($6.50) which seemed a tad boring to me that day, but what can be more pleasing to have with your pancakes than butter and maple syrup? Its a classic option that’s not only safe, but works any time, every time.

It is situated along Upper Thomson Road and it has a direct bus stop. The building is very special because it is not by the pedestrian pavement, it is further inside with a big space and it has a very classic design from the olden English days.

With its highly recognisable icons of Mr and Mrs Pancakes as the design on the glass doors of Little Pancakes, you can be sure to press that bus bell in advance.

The menu is a few cards held together by a book ring. Everything is cute in this shop, even the girls making pancakes. They are all smiles when my friend and I entered the shop. It has a free feeling even though it's my first time there. We just sat down at a two-seater and looked at the menu without any need for assistance (unlike posh/posh-wannabe restaurants).

The shop is narrow but the distance between each set of tables is good enough. The decoration on the walls are quite nice and homely. The design of Mr and Mrs Pancake is cute too. A very good start for branding and merchandising.

The serving time was quite long in actual fact but we just chat and didn’t realise the time.

Something Blue - $8.50

I was pleasantly surprised by the size and amount of the pancakes, so cute and small, placed in stacks and on a square plate! The contrast is nice as everything's round. I especially like the placement, it's very artsy fartsy, haha! The blueberry yogurt in the shot glass is exciting with the sour and thick yogurt and the sweet blueberry jam!

It’s got blueberry yoghurt, maple syrup, butter, vanilla ice cream, blueberries and the little pancakes!! Not too sweet, very nice!!

Peanut Butter Time - $8.20

It’s got peanut butter, butter, bananas, vanilla ice cream and the little pancakes! Compared to my Something Blue, this dish seems really plain and ordinary. But for peanut butter and banana lovers, it's heaven! The placement is also nice and like the name suggests, "TIME"!

Overall, I really like the atmosphere of this little shop. Free and easy, cozy as well! I'd recommend this shop for a lazy afternoon high tea session with your friends and then chat the day away!

We visited this place after a friend's birthday dinner in an Indian Restaurant nearby. Filled with curry, naan and basmanti rice, we decided we want something sweet and a cuppa just to settle the tummy. The pancakes menu can be divided into three categories: Sweet, Savoury and Asian. For the ice cream they use the brand 'New Zealand Ice Cream'.

I ordered Going Nutella For You ($8.20), which have about 10 mini pancakes, Nutella, chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, wafer cubes, butter and maple syrup. The plating is creative and gorgeous, all the components look fun and appetizing. The mini pancakes are about bite size, and goes well with nutella, ice-cream and light clear maple syrup.

Although the pancakes are delicious, we do think that there are some areas that can be improved. The texture of the pancakes need to be more consistent, as some of them are quite dry and make it hard to swallow. They can be more generous with the portion maple syrup. We paid extra for the maple syrup, but it wasn't even filled up to the brim.

For coffee lover like myself, you will like the artisanal coffee here. I was actually attracted by their funky coffee machine before I decided on the latte. The latte is smooth, bold but with slight acidity after taste. A good coffee indeed.

The décor of the place can look simple, however it is all about having fun at this place. Service is minimal, it is all about DIY here starting from placing your order, getting water and cutlery, with the exception for making the pancakes and drinks.

Overall, if you are looking for pancakes, do give Little Pancake a try. They might not be the best, but their fun atmosphere here is just so refreshing. Pricing is very reasonable. Cheers!

This plate of Big Fan OfAll Day Breakfast which cost only $10.90 certainly has win my heart because of its generous portion and great taste. Sausages are very chewy and fresh, which are not too salty. The pancakes are very soft and light in texture, not too oily and really easy to chewy. Scramble egg is filled with the milk and butter fragrant in it, which make it very tasty. Restaurant is comfortable and staffs are friendly.

I have heard pretty good things about their ham and cheese pancakes, as well as an item called “Mr. Green Turns Red” which has green tea and azuki beans accompanying it.

Majority of the people are a fan of pancakes. That’s to the best of my knowledge. And many too, yearn to have one (or a few!) for breakfast. It’s a semi-service cafe. You take your own seats, and you place your own orders. However, you need not self-collect your course. Phew. So interestingly, while waiting for our little pancakes to make the appearance, the framed up poster caught our attention. Bet you didn’t know as well, Maple Syrup is actually a very nutritional and healthy liquid. Despite that, I’d think that it only applies to a genuine, good-quality one. Don’t go happy spamming Maple Syrup just yet.

Caramel Latte ($4): Though it has an apparent good coffee art, the Caramel Latte could have been better with a stronger Caramel taste. Otherwise, the coffee was good enough for me (note that I’m not a hardcore coffee lover). And oh, the accompanying biscuit was deliciously salted.

Going Nutella For You ($8.20): Chocolate chips, wafer cubes, almonds and a scoop of chocolate ice cream, be prepared for a sweet sweet start to your morning. The ten little pancakes are nothing spectacular and very ordinary, but that doesn’t bother me thanks to its price tag. It’s definitely edible and I have no complains.

Peanut Butter Time ($8.20): Once again, it is an classic example of a very simple dish that is just very hard to go wrong. Either you like it or you don’t. If you don’t, you wouldn’t have ordered it in the first place. It’s peanut butter, banana, and vanilla ice cream. These items are standard-tasting, and no excuses to say you don’t know you don’t like them, right.

So when people ask me if it’s worth it, I say yes, it’s worth it. Yes, we all know how cheap pancakes are. I’m just grateful that they haven’t gone the ‘I’m gonna jack the prices up sky high’ just because they can. Trust me, if they had started out with a dish costing about $12 – $13, everyone would still eat it. When people ask me if it’s nice, I say well, it’s passable, though for what I’ve paid for, it’s acceptable.

Little Pancakes gives a casual dining experience. The staff are young and lively. Watch out though – the cafe isn’t a big one (probably seats less than 50), and reservations aren’t taken. Head there early if you want to secure a seat.

You ought to know too, that they also have dishes like ‘All Day Breakfast Pancakes’, serving scrambled eggs, glazed sausages, potato salad and greens with pancakes, and ‘Singaporeans Unite’, serving kaya, butter and condensed milk with pancakes.

Note #1: All prices are nett. No service charge / GST.

My friend wanted to patronize Little Pancakes and so we were there during tea time. We got the gimme s'more oreos, basically little tiny plain pancakes topped with oreo crumbs and decorated with oreo biscuits and marshmallows. The chocolate ice cream was also not impressive. Although presentation is good and pancakes are cute, that's about it, and you can try making it yourself at home too. Their pancakes are not fluffy and tastes like the frozen ones you get at supermarkets.

We were spoiled for choice as there were a variety of pancakes to choose from. My friend and I decided to try the nutella pancakes.

It came in a set of 8 miniature plain pancakes, a cup of chocolate ice cream, maple syrup, loacker biscuits, butter at the side and of course nutella.

I have to say I was quite disappointed as I expected the pancakes to be coated with nutella and not having to dip the pancakes in the nutella. The taste was just normal.

One should not be fooled by the size of the pancakes. They may be miniature but they are very filling.

I might go back to try the other varieties and hopefully they won't disappoint.

There are lots of cafes and ice cream joints in this area, but Little Pancakes really stands out with it's cute decor - lovely pancakes as icons for the cafe. Presentation of the pancakes were also great - cute little pancakes stacked together. I tried the ham and cheese one, cheese and ham sandwiched between two round pieces of pancake, and a small lump of mashed potato. Taste-wise it's really nothing to rave about, something you can make yourself at home. But it may look so cute you only care
