This is a very "average" place - warm ambience due to lack of aircon (but I believe they were doing a replicate of an authentic American cafe concept), average service and average food. Location is a little hard to get there as well, unless you are staying in the East.Foodwise, we had the Fish & Chips and Melts (similar to pizzas), which were tasty in an average way - simply like what you would eat at any western restaurant so the impression is not too remarkable. The Melts - blackforest ham, pineapple and cheese melts, basically two thin slices of pizza. The bread portion was just nice, chewy but not too soft or too hard. Paired with the sweet and salty ingredients, the flavor was a lovely Hawaiian-pizza blend. It makes for a great, light dinner and looks appetizing on its own.I also ordered the Iced Chocolate, which was rather pale in coloring and tasted a tad diluted. This was rather disappointing. For more detailed information and photos, please visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2013/12/dinner-at-lots-gourmet-stop.html continue reading

Had their set lunch some time back and found the environment to be conducive and a nice place to chill and just sip a cup of tea. I settled for a safer choice this time round with their fish and chips; comes with a large jar of home made iced lemon tea which was a good thirst-quencher. Fish and chips was rather average though, nothing special about the batter and it wasn't too flavourful. Thumbs up for the cute decor for their restrooms. continue reading

Tucked away in the far eastern side of Singapore, it was well camouflaged in the row of old shophouses. Recommended by a friend for their brunch menu, it was really a worthy try!I was pleasantly surprised with the scoop of chocolate ice-cream that came with the milkshake. Typically not a chocoholic, I must say this managed to satisfy me with a dash of cocoa and was slightly on the milky side such that it doesn't get overwhelmingly chocolate-y. It wasn't too sweet, and the chocolate ice-cream sealed the drink with satisfaction.A fan of eggs ben, this has probably made at least one special appearance at all my brunch outings. Strongly recommended by my friend, this has got to be the most well done poached eggs I've came across locally so far.Absolutely passing the test of eggs benny, the yolk was finely contained within just the membrane. A slight poke and the golden egg yolk just kept flowing. Slightly on the watery side, it was well complemented with the crisp ciabatta bread. I liked how the hollandaise sauce had a strong buttery taste. The whole dish was slightly too fluid for my liking, but taste-wise it was still great. What's more, this is quite a value-for-money price they're having, with this costing approximately $12.This was ordered by my friend, and she was extremely satisfied with the simple pleasures. A simple combination that was well complemented and nicely done for each component! A quiet and relaxed corner, it was the perfect setting to chill over coffee and brunch. Besides the brunch items, the lunch menu looked equally tempting and we'll probably go back there to try that out too! continue reading

We went to Lots Gourmet during lunch time, it is quite crowded. You may not get a seat as the restaurant is pretty small in size. They have set lunch which includes one main dish and one drink at $14.9 ++. It is quite reasonable for a restaurant of this standard. My friend tried the portobello sandwich and she simply loves it. Tried the baked Portuguese chicken, the meat is very tender and juicy, but the only thing I dislike is the mexican rice that comes along with it. Not a fan of mexican rice. They have meat burgers which are quite huge. If you are a guy with big appetite, their burger is definitely your top choice. Just a side note, they have a lot of interesting looking ciders in the shop, like strawberry cider, not sure how it tastes like, but worthwhile to give it a try. continue reading
