This market is quite crowded on a Sunday morning. The carrot cake stall is popular, but I decided to go for Indian. I ordered the masala thosai for breakfast as I haven't had it for quite some time. Although there was no queue, I had to wait quite a fair bit compared to if I had ordered other food. It was freshly made, filling and quite yummy. continue reading

Appam (Plain Hopper) at $0.90 is mini wok shaped pancake made of fermented rice flour. It is spongy in the centre and has a thin outer crust. It taste plain and best eaten with orange sugar. Thosai is Indian Crepe made up of rice and lentil. It is serves with coconut chutney, dhal (lentils) curry. It has a slight sour taste. Paper Thosai is crispy version of the normal Thosai, double in size and waffle thin. It cost only $2.20.The stall has many different types of Thosai one of which is Masala Thosai . This is spiced potatoes curry stuffed into normal Thosai. Other items sold at this store are String Hopper known as Putu Mayam. It look like woven rice vermicelli, similar to Vietnamese Bánh hỏi. This is eaten with orange sugar. This is healthy breakfast as very little oil is used and it is suitable for Vegetarian. continue reading
