I haven't been to Mad Jack in awhile. My last experience with their cakes were dry and I decided to give their main courses a try.They serve Halal western food that is easy on the wallet and with a wide variety, fish, chicken, beef, spaghetti, cakes and healthy fruit juices.1. Psycho Chicken & Chip $9.90+The chicken cutlet was alot bigger than expected! It was crispy all over and juicy and tender chicken meat on the inside. The chips were the fat chips kind, a big soggy. There was a side salad with a cube of green apple and red apple and some canned fruit. All in all, a decent main course, that proved to be better than expected2. Berry Chocolate Indulgence $6.40+ The cake was surprisingly good! It was so much better than the chocolate banana cake. The chocolate sponge cake interspersed with a chocolate ganache which was thick and almost like a giant chocolate bar in between and with homecooked berry compte on the top. For a post dinner snack, we decided to try mad jack! The cake display at nex was just mouth watering.. Referring to the menu, I decided to try their best seller chocolate Banana cake! It was a bit dry to be honest, but the chocolate was so rich and there were chunks of super sweet bananas in there. While I was shopping at Nex, I was craving for western food but the restaurants there mostly sells local or Japanese. When I walked pass the Mad Jack with striking signboard, I decided to go in for a try.I order the Grilled Terderloin in Brown Sauce at $22.90. The grilled terderloin came quite fast to the table and I could smell the grilled meat aroma. The serving portion of the meat was smaller than I expected.The terderloin meat was tender and juicy and easily cut, but the taste of the meat was somewhat bland. I guessed I had to dip the meat into the brown sauce to add flavour. The dipping brown sauce tasted similar to thicken KFC mashed potato sauce and I liked it. Overall, I find that the Grilled Terderloin in Brown Sauce was average in taste. I couldn't resist trying out their other desserts which were on offer at $4.90 for 2 during their teabreak hours.Wild Boy Jr I'm not a fan of caramel but I find this okay as the taste was slightly neutralized by the vanilla ice-cream. The crumble pie was served warm which made it taste even better!Banana Craze Jr fried banana fritter with 2 scoops of vanilla ice-cream! I visited Mad Jack for the first time in NEX and ordered this chicken chop.I had a good impression when I visited the Mad Jack at Jalan Kayu. The baked rice I had then was good and their sides were yummy too.However, these impressions did not tally with the chicken chop. The standard was.. non-existent. I was disappointed with the entire dish. The chicken was not tender enough, the sauce was just bad and the service was not very friendly as well. I'm really in love with this Chicken Baked Rice. Other than the pieces of grilled chicken, there are also pieces of mushrooms baked together with the rice and the cheese. The combination of all the ingredients really taste good when they are placed inside my mouth.However, it's best to serve this meal with a drink as I find it too cheesy after halfway through the meal. Mad Jack Cafe has a “Crazy Afternoon Tea” special on Mon-Fri from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. Why is it “crazy”? Well you get to choose any two items from their dine in afternoon tea menu for just $3.90! While there is GST levied on your food here, there are however no service charges so your crazy afternoon tea is effectively less than $5. You may choose from a selection of pancakes, brownies, sandwiches and drinks but being the cold, calculating, rational consumer that I am, I had to pick the items with the largest bang for buck. So I avoided the regular coffee and tea drinks and ordered a warm apple crumble and french toast with ham and cheese. Though the apple crumble served was just a square block, it was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and garnished with banana slices and swirls of caramel sauce. A delightful afternoon treat! OK, Nothing special about the drink. The soup? I didn't drink it because it doesn't look appetizing to me. But according to my friend it is a little bit salty. :X. Pasta: Abundant spaghetti but cooked a little bit to the harder side which i don't like. The meat is so so and i would very much prefer if there are more sauce loaded onto the pasta as i love my spaghetti with a lot a lot and i mean a lot of sauce. It would be perfect if the tomato cubes can be given in a more amount rather than the meat . The sauce is rich and a little bit salty to me. I called the Blue Mountain Burger the 'Leaning Burger of Mad Jack'. 5 pattys and I took 3 beef and 2 chicken. The best part of the burger was its cheese! (I loved cheese a lot.) The most crucial yet the worst was the pattys! I felt that pattys were like pillars of a structure, once they were screwed, the building would topple.
