Really getting into the Halloween season this year, the vivocity marche branch is decorated (down to every nook and cranny) with carved pumpkins to drum up a festive spirit. The interior is relatively spacious -there is a need for all the food stations to fit inside the restaurant itself, and the food ranges from rosti, pasta, rice, salads and pizzas to an extensive range of sweet treats including their sweet crepes and also pastries fresh out from the bakery station.

For those who have not been to Marche before, the system can be relatively daunting. You get a card, go to the food station that you want, order, and the amount for payment will be noted in your card (be sure not to mix up your card with your friends', or worse, lose your card because the penalty if $100 i think!), which you pay at the payment counter at the end of your meal when you leave!

We ordered two savoury crepes -One chicken and one mushroom at $13.50, an apple pie ($5.40) and a beef pizza (forgot the price :/) to share amongst ourselves. If you are a fan of potato, you may wanna try their specialty Rosti with sausage, or if rice is more of your thing, go for their paella!

In our opinion, the chicken crepe was wayyy better than the sauteed mushroom one. The shitake had a really overpowering taste that really took the focus away from the refreshing and delicately wrapped crepe! It tasted more of a braised Chinese dish, which was a little odd considering the fresh greens and the crepe. Mushrooms aside, the crepe is wrapped with fresh greens and comes with a creamy sauce on the side (which is good for dipping!). Do yourself a favour and go for the chicken crepe..unless you are vegetarian and don't mind shitake.

The apple pie disappointed me slightly -it was more of a layered apple tart rather than a pie, per se. The apple is thinly sliced, cooked with cinammon and sugar and layered to form a really tall pie. I liked the crust best, it was buttery and had a rich texture that would have complemented the refreshing apple ...pity there was so much of the apple and so little of the pie.

I don't eat beef, but my friends who shared the pizza told us that the taste wasn't really evenly distributed across the crust (the edges were terribly tasteless but the middle had more flavour comparatively). Also, there wasn't much minced beef
However, the contrast of fresh tomatoes and cheese proved to be a pleasant accompaniment.
We wouldn't really recommend pizzas at Marche though:/

Marche is an excellent place for a family gathering, or for friends (to save yourself the hassle of bill splitting, this place eradicates bill woes!). The food isn't extraordinary, and most dishes are either hits or misses depending on what you order. For first timers we would recommend the rosti (you cannot go wrong with potato!), sausages, and crepes -both savoury and sweet ones. Pricewise, it ranges from around $20 per pax onwards, once again, depending on what you order

Initially we wanted to order their rosti but the queue was way too long and we estimated there was not enough to catch our movie if we waited in the queue. So ended up we got this baked potato which was yummy as well. There is a wide range of food here and we will definitely come back again!

The Pork Knuckles I ordered has very crispy skin and tender, flavorful meat, goes well with their homemade dipping.
Succulent and appetizing chicken wrapped with Soft and light crepe.

Anyone who have yet to try their Rosti, please try
I really like how the Rosti tasted both crispy and soft at the same time (crispy outside, soft inside). Don't forget to eat the rosti together with the sour cream as it makes it more appetizing and less oily, since the rosti is made of potato and I saw the chef using a lot of oil to pan fry the rosti. Not to forget, the sausage is also awesome as it contains generous filing of cheese! The cheese will spurt out with every bite of the sausage! Really recommend cheese lover to try the rosti with this cheese sausage!

I also ordered the bottled root beer which was quite expensive if I didn't remember wrongly - around $4.90, but I think I can find the same bottle in supermarkets for half the price

All in all, I like the food in Marche and also like their concept of the restaurant (so unique) and they spent a lot of effort in decorating their restaurant too (very pretty)! Would definitely go again soon for my favourite rosti!

When I came here for dinner last week, I ordered a plate of fried snacks for our table to share. The dish I ordered was a vegetarian set, which came with fried flour fritters and mushrooms. The dish was really yummy, not being too greasy and being very flavoursome. The mushrooms were big juicy and fresh and the batter was crisp and light, without an old oily taste to it.

It is on one of these occasions that I find myself at Marche once again, and I decided to go for the rosti ($6.20) and a side of calamari ($12.90). The rosti at Marche is probably one of the most popular dishes since there is almost always a queue at the counter, but the chefs there are usually relatively efficient so there isn’t really a long wait. I always get the sour cream and green onions to garnish because they make the rosti taste so much better! The rosti is nicely browned and seasoned with just the right amount of salt such that it’s tasty and not overwhelmingly so. The sour cream gives it a nice tangy taste and the green onions are there because I’m a fan of them. As for the calamari, they were fried in a golden batter which was absolutely delicious and the squid inside was nice and fresh. The accompanying tartar sauce is also an added (albeit fattening) bonus.

I would recommend this place to people dining in groups for the convenience, and for everyone because there is always such a wide variety of food that there’s bound to be something for everyone! (that likes western cuisine at least.)

The Mushroom Soup at Marche is really fantastic. There are real bits of mushroom in the soup and you can really taste the blended up mushrooms that are used to make the soup. It doesn't really contain much fillers and there is not too much cream so you taste the pure yummy taste of the mushrooms alone. The soup is rather pricey though since portions are not exactly very big.

What I like about eating out at Marche is the wide variety of food they have, The food here is decent...They have some good rosti and crepes with ice cream...There are also specials everyday, and the food is decent...But the atmosphere can get a little busy and sometimes too crowded...

Their rosti. Usually, I would order the one with the smoked salmon, but wasn't in the mood for more salmon because I had salmon for lunch. Got the plain one, and I don't usually mind it being plain because we order a whole bunch of other dishes, so this is really just for the crispy potato slices.

Also, the fried calamari is an all-time fav, and the secret lies in their batter. Usually, most would pick the mayo dip for their calamari, but I personally find their oriental chili with fish sauce the best dip that Marche has to offer, and it goes perfectly with their calamari.

Really enjoy eating the rosti from this Marche outlet as the outer layer is always so crispy whereas the inner layer is also so moist and soft in texture. The shredded potato is very fragrant and goes very well with the white sauce. THe sausage portion is also quite huge and is very chewy and juicy. The portion is just alright for a person to have for lunch or dinner.

My favouritest favouritest ever place to get crepes cos of this!!!!!! I LOVEEEEE the sauce that they give although I have no idea what it is. I hate tartar sauce and was damn hesitant to try it back then when I first ate Marche crepes for the first time but it is damn freaking awesome!!! It's NOT tartar sauce it's like some cream based sauce, similar to the kind you see in cream pastas. Hahahah ok shall stop waxing lyrical about the sauce.

This is smoked salmon crepe btw which is super good. The crepe is not too soft / nua and not too hard or crispy at the same time. Smoked salmon tasted pretty fresh to me. Thumbs up times hundred!

Shared a pizza with the bf, some normal chicken pizza. Average but not worth the price. Dough was also average. Nothing much to rave about their pizzas haha or maybe I tried the wrong one? Wanted to get beef but they were out of it!

I HEART MARCHE!

I was yet again the least profitable customer at Marche. The plain rosti costed $6.20 while the bun was only $0.86. I was thirsty, but the drinks here are so painfully small. The juice of the day was Beetroot Lemonade and the sugar syrup must have worked wonders, because vege juice never tasted so good.My bill came up to be $11. I did notice that the set lunch, till 3pm,is ridiculously cheap,at only $8.90.

Marché is probably one of my most frequented restaurants, especially their Vivocity branch, which sits on the roof top garden, overlooking the harbour front and Sentosa island.

What makes this restaurant so special is their attentiveness to the details of the authentic Swiss culture - service staff are dressed in traditional costumes, a dimly-lit dining area with wooden tables and chairs, balconies and barrels, and not to mention, their lovely cow mannequins.

If it's your first time here, do approach the service staff and familiarise yourself with their paying system because Marché uses "credit payment" - where you first make your purchases with a card (valued at S$100) and pay before you leave the restaurant. Do be warned though, that if you misplace your card, you'll be charged the maximum of $100.

Now, without further ado, this is what I usually spend my credits on:

Rosti w/ Smoked Salmon (S$14.50) is an all-time favourite at Marché. Their signature pan-fried potato strips are crispy on the outside, soft and firm on the inside, and topped with their smoked salmon and a wallop of sour cream, this is definitely a must-try.

Crêpe with Blackforest Ham and Mushrooms (S$12++) was introduced to me by one of my mates when we had our little gathering some time back. How could I have missed this savoury treat! The skin of the crêpe is tender and firm, while the combination of thinly sliced mushroom and ham, dipped in their buttermilk sauce, just makes me want a second serving.

Grilled Salmon and Cream of Mushroom are two of Marché's many classics too. I highly recommend their mushroom soup as a starter to whet your appetite.

Do also grab a bottle of Bundaberg Root Beer (S$4.50) - Good Ol' Australian root beer, traditionally brewed to an old aunthentic recipe. Although overpriced (to be honest), it's one of the cheapest drinks at Marché.

Marché is a perfect place for gatherings, meet-ups, or even a romantic date. Although I would admit that the bill burns a slight hole in your pocket, Marché is still a place which I would definitely frequent again and again for it's the experience that counts, isn't it?

Tips: Do leave some stomach space for their signature ice cream crêpes and other desserts too.

In my opinion, I feel that the service was not good enough. When I wanted to change my seat as I was allocated right under the aircon, no staff attended to me. So I was left figuring my way to find another seats. When I saw that the tables in my area were all reserved, I asked the staff if they were anymore tables which were free, but he said they were all taken. It was only after I asked if there were anymore free tables further away, that he said yes, and pointed me to that direction, in which I had to figure the free tables myself again.

However, the food made my experience better. My friends and I ordered smoked salmon crepe, french garlic pork sausage rosti and pork knuckle.

The smoked salmon crepe was the best among the dishes! The saltiness of the smoked salmon is being "neutralised" with the fluffy crepe. Topped with the carbonara-alike sauce, I simply had mouth after mouth of it.
