First time heard about 菜頭粿, is it some kind of dumplings with vegetables or else? It made us feel curious about this so a friend bought this to us ... Oh, typically 菜頭粿 is turnip cake and in here, people use thick sweet soy sauce, garlic, bean sprouts and eggs to stir-fried with it. 菜頭粿were taste nice, the texture of the turnip cake was soft, it was depend on the balance of flour and the turnip.

Dinner with family and decided to try out and ordered the oyster omelette $6. The oyster smell is not strong enough, oyster is not enough either. There was quite a bit of egg but not well-mixed into the mixture with the oyster. The chilli is a bit sour and sweet. Overall is nice but it is like buying plain omelette rather than oyster omelette. Quite expensive for just a little bit of oyster and lots of egg.

I ordered a small Hokkien mee and fried oyster with egg for lunch last week. The hokkien mee was ok but the fried oyster with egg was very bad. The omelette was not well cooked with too much starch and too little oysters. There was also a lack of flavouring and the overall taste was not palatable.I do not recommend the fried oyster omelette at all, although the Hokkien mee is still edible. Both dishes cost $4 each.

Ordered a white carrot cake for lunch with family. The carrot cake was well cooked, with cai por included, seasoning was acceptable, not too bland, just nice. Carrot cake was well cut into small pieces, egg mixture was well spread over the carrot cake. However the waiting time was a bit long. Overall the carrot cake was still acceptable.

There aren't many stalls open at Maxwell Market after 8pm and if you're working late in the area like me, you'll need to know your options. Honestly, we can't be too choosy when there aren't many options at a late hour. I can't comment much on their signature banana leaf char kway teow. Instead, I was having carrot cake craving so I ordered their white carrot cake. The stall used to be from the Marina South in 2003 but when the area was redeveloped to the new integrated resort and gardens by the bay, they were moved to Maxwell Market. The taste was rather bland and it was just enough to fill the stomach. But it does not inspire me to want to visit them again. But it is an option for all you latenighters looking for something simple to fill the stomach!
