Although reservation has been made long before, we are met with a long of people waiting before the buffet start. The local high tea buffet comes with an amazing line-up of more than 50 treats.

One of the favourite station is the DIY salad station which has a variety of items and even items such as chai seeds. Great for those who are eating clean.

There is live stations for laksa and crepe.

For those who prefer traditional English style of high tea, there is scones, served with clotted cream and jam. The scone is not bad except that it is a bit dry.

There is a wide variety for the high tea buffet which comes with free flow of coffee and tea. But the time duration for the buffet is a bit limited as it is just for 2 hours from 3pm to 5pm. Overall food is not bad with wide variety such as cold seafood, smoked salmon, bak kut teh soup, rojak, salad, crepe, nacho, bread pudding and local kuehs.

Mariott Cafe offers a bit of everything. From porridge, satays, dimsum to local mains like chicken rice, prawn mee, bak ku teh, yong tau fu, mee siam, curry chicken and more. We start to find it boring but I'm sure it will be a good take for tourists. Though the dessert portion seems limited, I'm still glad that they've a bit of everything. From ice kachang to Asian desserts such as kueh lapis, malay kuehs and lastly to English sweets. Being a high tea buffet, desserts should be the highlight of it but I find it disappointing to have such a small spread of sweets.

The food quality for it's high tea buffet tasted average with plenty of local dish which I find it too 'familiar'. Overall, it's still worth a visit - $39++ per pax for high tea buffet. Read full review at http://jacqsowhat.blogspot.com/2014/02/high-tea-buffet-marriott-cafe-singapore.html

I wasn't really keen on most of the hot dishes, so I had more of the cold dishes. Food variety wasn't a lot but it was very fresh. Service on the other hand isn't as attentive as compared to my previous visit. It took them almost 30 mins to serve us ice water.

So i was quite delighted when my friend asked me out for high tea! With it's convenient location linked to MRT, it's already a plus point.

Was really hungry so I wasted no time in attacking the food! Personally i do like the spread here. A good range of different cuisine (both cold and hot section ). It was really enjoyable in this way with good food + good company. Service were pretty good and attentive during my visit.

I must specially mentioned the scones here! Appearance wise, it's not good cause it gave me a feeling that it's over baked and looks hard. After trying one, i was hooked on it! Went back for a few more even though i was getting really full.

For a weekend high tea at $39++, I will still consider coming back despite not having any discount or promotion when I was there.

For starter, Bak Kut Teh (English: Meat Bone Tea) is an excellent choice to increase your appetite. I believe the restaurant has boiled it for rather long, because there is a strong pork rib aroma in the soup. I couldn't help but notice that there are more bones than meat in the soup though, I believe the meat must have probably melted away and sank into the bottom of the pot.

My heart went all out to these three giant bowls of white prawns, because hardly anyone was eating them. Perhaps it would have been much more wise to have them all peeled, or have a service crew who helps to peel prawns..

This is the tastiest FISH I EVER EATEN, it is extremely addictive and I was torn in between gobbling down the whole piece or savouring it to the last. Thank God I didn't have to fret because it was a free-flow buffet! *dances and twirls around*
There's also a wide variety of garnish available, you can select as many lemons as you want.

The succulent and spicy Otah Otak had the smell of grilled fish in it, and it perfectly suits the tastebuds of a typical Singaporean! Most of us do have a preference for spiciness in our food, thus the Otah Otak is a popular favourite among the guests who were were eating there at that time.

Also, the Popiah (English: Spring Roll) that is prepared fresh on the spot is extremely crispy. At face value, it's one of a traditional cuisine derived from Fujian, China. I believe tourists from other continents would fall in love with this sweet-tasting, crunchy snack!

Prawn noodles have been one of my favourite childhood meals that I would eat for lunch. I couldn't help but slurp down the long strands of yellow noodles, and the soup was so thick in prawn flavour it made me squeal a little. My companion dislike the smell of the prawns, so this is a love-it-or-hate-it dish.

Dim sum such as steamed pork buns and Siew Mai is also served in the buffet. I guess as part of the buffet experience, you really must try dim sum though its' flour would make you full quite easily.

The dessert was the most exciting part of the experience because there is quite a large variety of sweet treats dedicated to chocolate. There is also a station for ice-cream and you can select different nuts, biscuits or chocolate/rainbow rice to go along with it.

Lots of Kueh in Singapore... I wish they'd label each one of them so people would know what they actually contain. I love the way they lay them out though, and I really appreciate their effort in placing the kuehs in neat rows. I was quite disappointed that there were nothing on durians, since durians is really a local dish and you must eat it when you come to Singapore. Perhaps they wouldn't want to scare the customers off with the smell, but still, it could have been like a durian crepe station or something!

With that. do note that the drinks are only limited to Coffee, Tea and water. You have to ask the waiter to serve you, and the coffee is Bon Café, thus making it relatively thick!

There is a strong local food focus in the buffet as evident in the wide selection of local dishes served. There is a Chicken Rice station complete with both steamed and roasted chicken and fragrant rice. There is also a rojak station where you DIY create your own rojak with your desired ingredients and sauces. There’s otah, satay, dim sum, Taiwanese porridge. I wouldn’t load up on carbs in buffet, but I must really commend the nice Taiwanese porridge side dishes like the flavourful braised duck, pork and fluffy oyster omelette, which are definite must haves (with or without the porridge).

For the health conscious- there is a really impressively stocked salad bar and the more ang moh pais will appreciate the bread/baguette station.

Most food items are served in chi chi Le Cruesset cookware, and you will be surprised by how many tai tais lounge around the cafe, whiling the afternoon away over coffee and cakes.

Perhaps the wide selection of cakes, pastries and freshly brewed coffee is a good reason to just sit around the cafe and catch up with the latest gossips with friends. The cakes were okay, but the chocolate puffs weren’t very appetizing.

I was pleasant surprised by the ridiculously well stocked ice cream bar. The jars contain every conceivable ice cream topping you can have. Like a sugar deprived child in a candy shop, I grabbed every ice cream flavour with a little of all the toppings available- rainbow bits, gummy bears, jelly beans, M&Ms, nuts, cranberries… sprayed with lots of chocolate fudge sauce. I initially thought the ice cream served were gelato (especially since they dressed the flavours with extra garnishing), but it tasted like normal ice cream from the tub., but with the extensive toppings, I’m not complaining. Don’t come near this station if you’re on a diet.

Did I also mention about the free flow soft drinks and fruit juices you can request when you visit? Service is really good, as expected from a five star hotel and staff are really prompt and friendly.

Food

Their must try dishes is definitely the drunken prawns, oysters and crispy pork saddle. When we step into the café, we were overwhelmed by the wide varieties that the buffet offers. My dad was especially excited with the unlimited flow of seafood. Their oysters are fresh, huge and juicy unlike most of the other buffets. We also ate quite a lot of chilli crab which would have cost us a bomb if we weren't eating this buffet.

Service

Their service was really prompt. They cleared my dirty plates every time I went away to source for new delicacies.
Overall, it was definitely worth the price with the vast selection of quality food available. Hope the deal last for some time so that I can go with my friends again.
