Craving for satays, we headed to the Haig Road Market for some late dinner. I decided to try the Mei Mei Satay stalll where I ordered 10 sticks of satay (5 mutton and 5 pork) and rice. It costs around $7 for the plate of food. The satay were well grilled and tasted piping hot as they were freshly taken out. The meat was tender and juicy, but sadly the portion was quite small.

My son ask me to order the satay from this stall, inside I saw that they also sold carrot cake so decided to order a plate as well. I ordered the white carrot cake, it is fried into many pieces unlike the chey sua carrot cake in toa payoh where it is fried into a big piece. Here the carrot cake is more of soft and chewy. You can taste the egg bits in between. The chai poh give it a crunchy and salty taste. Ordered their satay as well, the chicken satay was good, very fragrant, the meat was sweet

I decided to try the satay from this stall, normally my girlfriend and I will order only chicken satay cos she does not like mutton taste, but here had pork satay so we decided to give it a try. The satay was pretty good, the meat was marinated perfectly, it tasted really nice. the chicken and pork were grilled well and had the charred bits. the meat was very tender and juicy. saw that they were selling carrot cake, so we stopped by. it was pretty average. not as oily as the one at airport rd which uses vegetable oil. but this one is richer since they must be using lard or something. the carrot cake pieces are a good size - not too small so you can't pick it up. it's nice to have chives on top. but the carrot cake has been pre-cooked and left sitting there, so it's not hot and doesn't taste as fresh as freshly cooked. overall it's average but not too bad. takes a whil

The satay here is also a surprising find. It's run by a Chinese. (There's pork satay here) It's tastes pretty good too. The pork satay very juicy and not over-grilled. It quite tasty actually, with the sides of the meat nicely charred. The peanut sauce even comes with pureed pineapple for a tinge of sweetness and zest, which is yet another rarity for a satay stalls in Singapore.
