Introduction
Monster Curry is the only Japanese restaurant in Singapore to serve a “demi-glace” curry sauce, marked by a rich and deeply flavourful brown sauce. To give the curry sauce an extra kick, Monster Curry serves all its dishes at five different levels of spiciness, thanks to a hot sauce that is a concoction of chilli padi, garlic, ginger and celery. continue reading

For more reviews, visit www.umakemehungry.comMonster Curry has spreaded its wings into the western part of Singapore and I could not wait to share with you guys about the news. With this new appearance located at the 3rd level of Jurong Point 2, just beside Bakerzin, I can see long snaky queues outside Monster Curry every evening without fail.Marked by its rich and deeply flavoured brown sauce in its chosen level of spiciness (within 5 levels), Shabu Omelette Curry was a great choice in its concoction of chilli padi, garlic, ginger and celery.Rice was rather moist and covered up by the thin layer of soft fluffy eye striking yellow piece of omlette with shredded lettuce topped with roasted sesame dressing. Pieces of Shabu's flavoured were enhanced by its brown sauce. The monstrous bowl had kind of tell us the portion was big and as seen by many patrons, most of them are sharing a meal. When we received our meal, we realised that the portion was not that gigantic as what we have imagine and those patrons that we saw were having combo meals, suitable to share between 2 at least. Thus we had chicken katsu as our add on. Unfortunately, we were so hungry that we finished our main first before we can actually pair these yummy chicken katsu with it.The breaded portion was crispy and easy on the jaws. I'm more than happy for having such a wonderful meal.Between CoCoIchiban & Monster Curry in the malls, what is your take? continue reading

Breathe fire, tasty tasty fire. It's been some time since Monster Curry opened in Jurong Point (aka. the best shopping mall in the West and the reason why Westies don't go to town anymore), but I think queues are still forming for this extremely eye-catching fiery red Japanese curry store! If you have trouble finding it... just know it's somewhere beside Starbucks ;)You know how Singaporeans absolutely love new things, new shops, new shopping malls? Same goes for Monster Curry, which saw snaking queues for the first few two weeks of its opening. Unsurprisingly, I joined the queue (after days of badgering people to eat it with me), and had to wait 40 minutes before getting a booth. Luckily, our order of the Combo Curry (SGD25) of Level 1 came pretty quickly. It was humongous; it was practically the size of a face basin! There was pork katsu, fried fish, pork shabu-shabu, shrimp tempura and cheese, and then we added an omelette as a topping. It wasn't that spicy, and level 1 came in the form of a heart-shaped chilli on top of the Japanese curry, so you could easily order Level 5, mix as you go along when you don't think it's spicy enough. The curry was lovely and very fragrant. All of the components were obviously freshly prepared and cooked, I love especially the fried fish and shrimp tempura which had super crispy and thin batter and generous in the meat itself. Three hungry people finished it easily. Would I go again? Yes. Beware, it is addictive! continue reading
