Had always wanted to try this stall after seeing the huge plate decor just outside the stall. You choose your choice of curry rice then indicate the number of flames desired. I have to mention that they do not have very customer friendly facing staff as throughout the order i did not hear a word from the girl, perhaps it was a bad day for her. Seats are wooden platform type, nothing much to shout about. Initially when me and my other 2 colleagues sat down, i was concerned that we do not hv enough space coz i see the huge plate on the table next to us. Then i came to know the huge plate only applies to the premium items that cost >$20+. My chicken katsu curry rice was served pretty quickly (it was near to 2pm so no crowd) and were immediately greeted by the strong aroma of the curry sauce. Your flame level is also indicated on the sauce itself (the unique sign is created using garlic chilli sauce look alike). But be warned the flame level is no joke, i ordered a flame 2 and was already tamed quietly with its level of spiciness and i did not entirely mix it with the curry sauce. The chicken katsu came in a nice big slice and goes well with the dark colored curry sauce. I was contemplating how to eat it - whether to mix it all up with the rice or to add on to the rice as per desire. I went with the latter option and was glad i did that, mixing it altogether may hv made it a little too overwhelming. Anyway prices excludes gst so do rem to add 10%+7% in your consideration for food option.

Monster Curry is one of the newer restaurants to open at ION's basement. It's located just in front of the basement food court. Well, I usually have a small appetite but decided to challenge myself to the MONSTER EGG CURRY COMBO ($24)! Personally, I'm not much of a curry fan since I don't take spicy food. But like the usual Japanese curry, the curry here was more on the sweet side and wasn't too spicy for me. You can actually choose 5 different spice levels that you want (the hottest is Level 5: Monster Hot), but the service staff did not ask us for our individual spice level and probably served us the Level 1: Normal Hot one.

The restaurant is usually packed for dinner and they do not have many seats, so be prepared to queue for about 15 - 20 minutes if you decide to go on a weekday. overall, the food was good but the service staff lacked friendliness and were rather clueless/ not helpful when we asked them about our order.

The dish might have come in a very big plate, but I can't say the same for the size of the serving, so bigger eaters should take note here. But taste wise, the dish really hit all the right notes. the creamy mayonnaise on top of crispy fried chicken really went well with the sweet tones of the Japanese curry, which I just wanted to lather my rice in after the first taste.

Service by the restaurant staff was a bit sloppy - my friend's dish was quite forgotten while 3 of us happily tucked in. And the drinks we ordered were not served until we reminded the staff to do so. My biggest gripe would be the waiter not actually asking for our choice of spice level (there are 5 available), and I felt quite robbed of a full experience at Monster Curry.

Maybe the next time?

Went there to have a quick dinner before a movie that was going to start in 45 minutes time. Didn't had to wait too long for a seat for 4 persons. Big Fried Fish Curry - comes in a huge plate with a huge fish, moderate amount of rice and curry. They serve really good curry here and they have different levels of spiciness for you to choose. For me I went with the least spicy. To be honest I don't really like the batter of the fish, but the curry should be given brownie points. I'd return to try

I'd return to try their tempura ebi curry rice.

This stall had an interesting concept of serving Japanese curry rice at different levels of spicyness and in very very gigantic plates which attracted my friend and I to dine at the stall for lunch! We ordered chicken cutlet with cheese curry sauce at a medium level of spicyness. In the curry sauce, there were pieces of meat which we could not determine was beef or pork. The sauce was a little too salty and it overwhelmed the cheese flavour. It was not too spicy. The chicken cutlet was evenly fr

This restaurant which is well known for their thick curry gravy is very innovative as they have many different and interesting ranges of main course for you to choose from. Have tried their fish and steak cutlet rice and was immediately impressed by the nice presentation and also the generous portion of it. The fish cutlet is crispy and the fish meat is very fresh and juicy. The steak is not too tough and the meat is very tender and juicy too. Simply delicious and definitely craving for more
