My friend recommended me to try the pig liver mee sua & I decided to went there on Friday evening. Since is a weekday, hence there was no queue. I ordered the pig liver mee sua & was surprised to see the soup is black colour, must be they added dark soya sauce in the soup. In order to taste the softness & freshness of the pig liver, the temperature & the time to cook must be just nice else if overcooked, the texture is hard hence not nice. This stall's pig liver given in generous portion & the texture is soft & chewy. Literally, when I chew the pig liver, it basically melts in my mouth & taste SHIOK!! As for the mee sua, is cooked just nice and slipped through my throat smoothly. Overall, is a nice dish to try for all pig liver lovers !  continue reading

I brought my friend to visit Hong Lim Food Centre and by chance we found out the stall was opened in the evening for business as well. Decided to give it a try , we ordered 2 dishes and 2 bowls of rice to start our dinner . At total of $ 8.60 for 2 pax , we have problem finishing all the food . Indeed was value for money and taste was delicious too. The Braised pork leg was a big portion for 2 persons , it can even be shared among 3 persons for dinner. I liked the soft texture and chewy skin . No doubt I will order it again in future ! Very often heard from the elderly people that eating pork leg is good for the joint especially the legs. Old folk tale! The Bat Kut Teh is different from the normally seen type - peppery and white soup base. I think this is much nicer than the normal type as the taste is smooth , nice and contained herbal fragrance too. continue reading

My colleague and I happened to be around Hong Lim Food Centre one day and decided to check out this Bak Kut Teh stall. I haven't eaten at a hawker centre like this for years because I don't really like the oily and smokey atmosphere that sticks to your clothes. Anyway, I was prepared for a spicy lunch since my impression of Bak Kut Teh was that it usually has a lot of pepper. But surprisingly, the Bak Kut Teh here came in a dark soup which was sweet and not spicy at all (much to my delight). The yam rice was quite nice too with large cubes of yam. I felt that the portion of meat was too little though it was a really cheap lunch ($3). continue reading

My colleague and I went to Hong Lim Food Centre to have our lunch and we decided to try out the stall named Morning Bak Kut Teh as we felt that the herbal soup smelled fragrant and aromatic from afar. Here are some photos to share with all of you:This is a photo of the stall shop front. You can tell that this stall is hygienic as they were awarded a rating of B by National Environment Agency, which was prominently displayed on the top right hand corner of the signboard. Other than the usual Bak Kut Teh, they also offered a variety of dishes for their patrons to try. Also, I felt that their stall name is rather unique and special. For Morning Bak Kut Teh, throughout our dining session, the tables surrounding their stall were filled with patrons that ordered from their stall. Also the entire hawker centre was fully packed with people having their lunch and as the weather was also hot, hence I don't really like my dining experience as I was perspiring while eating my Bak Kut Teh.The ambience of the place was quite pleasant as the surrounding area of the shop were clean and hygienic. Here's my Bak Ku Teh set meal, which cost me $5. I felt that the price was reasonable for the amount of meat portion that was given in my set meal. Here's a close-up view of my Bak Kut Teh soup. I love the taste of the soup. It's unlike the usual traditional Bak Kut Teh soup that has a tinge of spiciness in it. The soup has a herbal taste to it and it also tasted sweet. It's so different from the usual Bak Kut Teh that I often ate, which often come with a clear soup base. The pork rib meat in my set meal tasted tender and soft. On a side note, I realized that the stall owners do help you to refill your soup base if it runs out of soup.On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 as mediocre and 10 as very yummy, I would give the overall dining experience as a rating of 7. continue reading

i went there for breakfast with my family. This food centre has been renovate before thus this place look more clean. The whole food centre was quite empty. We ordered 4 bowl of bak kut teh. The price is relatively cheap but i personally dun like the soup. The soup is those herbal soup black in colour and not the normal kind. The meat was fine, taste fresh. They have this tea set which is so vintage, it come with a kettle and a tea pot.overall i will still go back since is so cheap. continue reading
