It is very rainy and cold these few days, so I decided to get a beancurd with tangyuan as dessert on my way home after work. There is a choice of the flavours of tangyuan, and I chose two peanut and one red bean. The beancurd still retains the heat even after I ate it one hour later which is good. The beancurd is the soft and wobbly type and it is silky smooth. As the tangyuan is sweet, I had requested for less sugar syrup for my beancurd which turns out to be the right choice when I pair it together to eat. The tangyuan are those generic supermarket tangyuans so there is nothing special about it unlike those handmade ones in some dessert stalls. Overall, it is a good choice for a cold day. continue reading

Azuki bean is more commonly known as red bean. The red bean paste used as the filling of their pancake was not those smooth and pureed type but you can still find the whole red beans inside. I like the texture of the paste and most importantly it was not overly sweet! The staff were also very pleasant and enthusiastically showing me their CNY cookies. continue reading

Mr Bean has always been favourite go-to place to get my soybean/tauhway fix when I'm in town/malls. At $1.40 a cup for the soya bean, some may argue that it's a tad pricey comparing to hawker centre stalls that also made fresh soya bean at possible (nearly) half the price. This cup of warm soya bean is smooth and milky and tastes very comforting. You also get to choose your sugar level -I chose mine at 50%, not too sweet, just nice. You would wanna try the pancakes too -with a purchase of the soya milk you get a pancake at just $1. The cheese pancake is really good (better than youd expect -full of cream cheese inside). continue reading

I was in Orchard & it was my evening tea time. I just spotted Mr. Bean & decided to hae a soya milk. I ordered for a plain soya milk, warm, with 30% sugar levels. It was super refreshing, it was lightly warm, mildly sweet & was a bland soya milk, but it was so unlike the packaged Soya milk & tasted much better & finer. It costed about 1.3- 1.5 $ only. It is an awesome choice for a light refreshing milky drink. continue reading

love the bean curds here. fresh and tasty. at times there is a powdery texture. prefer mr bean to most other bean curd places. the bean curds here are usually smooth and silky. prefer the curds in large pieces and not small pieces. friendly staff. fast and efficient. love their pastry too. wish they still had the green tea flavour - now there is only pineapple and green bean. don't remember exact price - around $1.50 for the bean curd. the photo shows the close up of the bean curds continue reading
